When I lived in Mexico we had these in our backyard from time to time. I lived in Canada so I am not used to these huge tarantulas. However, they are SO CHILL! They leave you alone or even run away if they see you. Much better than the scorpions.
She's a beauty. I have been considering getting my own pet tarantula for some time, ever since I cured myself of my lifelong arachnophobia, but it's the feeding that worries me. Not too keen on feeding it live bugs.
Thank you. Feeding is not anything difficult. You can buy the crickets in a pet store. If it bothers you, get the exact amount you plan to feed, open the lid, and empty the bag with crickets in. You don't have to touch them.
Feeding was a little annoying as I found it hard to get a good grip on those speedy crickets with my tweezers but after the 3rd feeding I was able to get better at it
I can imagine catching crickets with tweezers would be tricky. I never tried that. It's a lot easier to shake what you need in to a small cup and then just empty that in to your tarantula enclosure.
@@Kids_Scissors There is no need to drop it close. They will catch it sooner or later. I usually just check the next day to see if the cricket is gone. If they are hungry they catch it.
Well, I love spiders. Do you like cats? Do you wonder how people can be so calm petting a cat? Technically, the cat is dirtier than a tarantula, can give you flees, and their saliva has bacteria that can cause serious infection. Also, have you seen their teeth? Their bite hurts! So do their scratches. Cats tend to scratch and bite just for fun. Tarantula bites only if it thinks it is in danger and is trying to save its own life. I wonder how people can be so calm petting a cat and be so uncomfortable holding a tarantula. 😁

@@cattleya4996 yeah that might be a good idea. But that makes it hard to drop the cricket near the tarantula sometimes so they can actually sense it

I really don't understand how people can be so calm with a spider on their hand. If it were me, that spider would already have been slapped away
