Layne was the original baritone before Scott porter left then Geoff taught Layne basics of beatboxing so Geoff or any of them could have taken over while Layne sang. They filmed this way because Mykal had to catch a plane to his next gig and they wanted to get out stand by me before he had to leave

Stephen King's was growing up in Maine - Stand By Me was the film reset in Oregon. Ben E. King did the song in 1962. Mykal was one of the original group with Earl, Geoff, and Layne. They went through a couple of group names - 4theLove, after high school changed it to 4:2:Five when they went for 4 members to adding Scott Porter as the beatboxer. A few years passed and Scott went to Hollywood for an acting career and Mykal went to Broadway. Both have had really good careers. When Scott left, Layne gave up the baritone and Geoff taught him what he knew and Layne took off. VoicePlay usually saves the vertical formats for shorts/minis, but with this one it was full length and the title Stand By Me was the reason they chose the vertical format. Both VoicePlay and Geoff dropped videos Friday 12/8 - Zat U Santa Claus and Geoff's Carol of the Bells.
