Baby parrots seized from smuggler cared for at RSCF

It has been a very busy 2 months here at RSCF. We have been caring for 25 confiscated parrots smuggled to Miami from Nicaragua as eggs. These refugees of illegal wildlife trade are thriving here and our dedicated staff have been working round-the-clock to keep them happy and healthy. While their ultimate future is uncertain at the moment, we will keep you updated as we explore all options for their long term care--including re-export and repatriation.
Poaching for the pet trade has decimated parrot populations in Central America, with over 90% of nests robbed. Most of these babies die in the process.
We will post more as we go--these critically endangered birds deserve the very best future we can provide.
