    Excellent explanation, could you provide the spreadsheet. And on the other hand you will be able to explain the principle of compatibility and interchangeability between the different sensors, signal conditioners and extension cables.

    Hi Jim. Truly an avid fan of your work! Just wanted to confirm on the core resistance criteria on your spreadsheet as I am creating my own. I believe that the lower range should be 0.84 and 1.14 from the 0.99+/-0.15 right?

    • @jimdiggins101
      @jimdiggins101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The easiest way is to figure out how much resistance per meter should be offered by each conductor. This information will be available in the manual. For the 3300 the core should produce .22/meter and the jacket .0667/meter. The problem is, most basic meters will round up to a tenth ohm. When you build your pass fail condition you have to account for that. I have a video of how to build this spread sheet, I could upload it if you want.

  • @ЕвгенийБелоцерковный
    @ЕвгенийБелоцерковный 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you have CORE RESISTANCE lower-0.84 and upper - 1.14 in the begining video. And then CORE RESISTANCE lower- 0.8 and upper - 1.2 in end of the video?))

    • @jimdiggins101
      @jimdiggins101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to get an accurate measurement of resistance this low, is to use an instrument with a 4-way bridge. Since most basic multi-meters are two wire measurements and round up to the tenth ohm, the accuracy isn't sufficient for this type of measurement. Even when you use the delta button on your meter to eliminate the test lead resistance, a .1 ohm resistance float can exist since the resistance value is changing constantly. To avoid false failure indications, I open the tolerance a little bit. This problem is less of an issue if you stick to measuring the entire circuit resistance (core, jacket, & probe). If you have a precision ohm meter, this will not be a problem.

    Why -vtg is used insted of +ve for proximity probe

    • @jimdiggins101
      @jimdiggins101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The negative voltage is used by Bently Nevada because of the design of their proximitor. During the initial design, the cost of one transistor over the other was a consideration and they went with negative bias voltage due to the availability of PNP transistors. That is the answer I got years ago when I asked the same question.
