I didn't learn anything new from this particular one but I adore your presentation style and showmanship. I just love watching your videos again and again. Repetitio est mater studiorum.... Keep up doing a great job!!!
I can say. This software is amazing for ui design. It is tricky, but learning how the features work benefits a lot. I use it a lot for ui designs for games, but i also like how it even resizez images without much problem.
Really good video to get people familiar with gradients in Inkscape. Funny enough, I tried messing with those earlier today and had to admit that I do not know enough about gradients to use them properly. So thank you for reading my mind, I guess :)
Thank you for this video. I did the gold gradient using Park Lane fonts, but first, I had to change the font color to light gray/gray before applying the gold gradient.
Thanks for this and the other videos - I always learn something from you. I have watched several videos from various people on using Inkscape - everyone says to use " Z" to undo and, while this is correct, what is wrong with using the undo and redo arrows in the Control Bar ... they sit right in between the "Export" and "Copy" icons/buttons?
Thank you for all of these instructional videos. I know I'm coming in late on this but I'm following all of them to try and get my head around Inkscape. In this one, I get as far as selecting them before converting to a path, but as soon as I click Object to Path, it just changes the letters all to black. Not sure if I missed a step. BTW, this is the latest version of Inkscape (v1.3)
love that ! pretty good tutorial...i work long time with inkscape for logos (not that one here in yt but other). And i was just amazed by the "set cut path" function.
Your videos are sensational. Congratulations on the channel. Inkscape really is a very good tool to be explored and its didactics makes the process of knowledge of the tool simpler and more accessible.
I'm very sorry to learn that you're no longer offering logo design services and the decision is very logical and understandable. Just wanna say that although your educational videos are so comprehensive and easy to learn from, yet NOT all of us are borne with a designer's creativity. That's where and why, i believe in the saying, "invest your own time in whatever you're best at, and outsource everything else". Anyways, Good luck!
hey nick i have a really good idea for a new series , you kind of have random tutorials about any feature advanced and beginner mixed BUT LITSEN IF YOU MAKE A SERIES WHERE YOU TURN AN ABSOLUTELY NEW BEGINNER CAREER READY IT WILL EXPLODE! TRUST ME ON THIS!
Hi Nick, I'm a developer for a game I'm creating, with just myself working on it. Would it be alright if I could use your vector images you made through your tutorials? Like the tutorial you made on Gold Coins. I'll be sure to credit you.
Really enjoy your videos, thank you! I have a question about how to do something and not sure what is the best way to reach you. If I have say a 2-line text logo and I want to create a solid-color base for it that is the same x and y dimensions but fills in gaps from letters like C, G, D, P, B, etc. how would I do that? I would then overlay the text directly on top of the solid base in a different color. I am thinking something like an intersection of the logo and a solid rectangle? Not sure if that is the best way to describe it. I have both Gimp and Inkscape.
I have been using an OLD (very old and the Arabic version to boot) of Adobe Photoshop. I am a creature of habit. I've made all my presets and know my way around the program well, but I have recently had to completely rebuild my PC from the ground up and figure its time to bring myself kicking and screaming into this century. I love your videos I've watched today and REALLY appreciate your attention to detail, your thoughtfulness of the vantage point of your audience and they way you so clearly articulate your words! Seriously - kudos and thanks! I have a question though. I looked and found this video on making Gold text and while it is good, it pales in comparison to the text I make with Adobe - at least for my intended purposes. Mine has more fluidity and dimension to it (it is beveled). Is that possible with this or any of the programs you use and offer tutorials on? If you like I'll send you a link to some artwork with the kind of text I have in mind. Thank you for your help and really... thank you for your videos!
Im new at inkscape, but i have made some logos in Photoshop before. Love your videos Nick !!! I dont know if you have videos for beginners in inkscape, but it would be great if there were a video were you maybe explain the most common tools on both HOW you use them and WHY / What that tool does...if you know what i mean :) Im from Sweden so maybe my english isnt that great for explaining. Also my inkscape is in Swedish so its a little bit hard to follow along sometimes :) Keep up the great work Nick !!! Greetings from Sweden Morgan
Hey Nick! I want to start out by saying you are an extremely talented dude and you do everyone a great service posting these videos for everyone. My question may sound dumb. Do you have any other gradient combinations for other metals? Like silver or bronze?
Awesome tutorial Nick! I'm a second generation sign writer, and this is a great 2D visual whenever I'm designing a gold leaf design. How about a prismatic Gold leaf letter tutorial!!! 😎😎😎
I absolutely love your videos and have watched lots of them. I have a laser and I’m wondering if there is any way to create grayscale depth maps in Inkscape for 3D type engraving. Just curious... I figured if anyone would know it would be you. Thanks and keep up with the great videos.
TOPIC REQUEST: Making Guilloche borders and backgrounds for certificates and coupons. The closest I was able to find was your excellent tutorial on "Vector Smoke Effect" (17 Nov, 2017). But how to deal with rectangular constraints and seamless 90 degree corners? There was a web based product that disappeared. (Torrapp ?) Modern European bank notes have gotten absolutely stunning in their use of color and pattern. I'd like to experiment with this. I understand that there is a recent extension but I cannot get it to work under Linux. I'm sure there must be a way to do this manually.
Hi Nick. There's a website called PixelBuddha that provides lots of really cool free PSD effects (e.g. Matrix Dot Photoshop Effect). Would you be able to do a brief video please on how to use GIMP to manipulate those .psd files?
I am a big fan of you sir... And seriously i am inspired by you for GIMP... And now I am manipulating the images because of you... So I thank full to you... You can see my TUTORIALS VIDEO on my CHANNEL (Codingcreator)
Hey there, I have a recommendation for a little video series: Game Design (Buttons, UI, GameArt etc.) this would target a new audience just a recommendation tho

Thanks so much.. you are the best teacher
Hearing you type always makes me wonder, what kind of keyboard do you use? Such a nice warm analog clackety-clack!
It's a mechanical keyboard. They make those loud, satisfying clicks.
Thanks for your tutorials!
Excellent tutorial

To be able to work with individual letters: use Path -> Split path (shift+ctrl+alt+k for pc).
