As a Yoruba man I'll like to share my opinion on the matter(knowledge is infinite). I don't think Samuel Ajayi Crowther translated Satan as Esu, he translated Satan as Satani (there was no direct interpretation of the word so how could he have just gotten one? The best he could do was to translate as it sounds). What he translated as Esu is the word Devil (which most people attribute temptations and mischievous deeds to; some of the things Esu is known for). The issue is not necessarily Bishop Samuel of ofcourse every other Yoruba person that got use to the word "ise Esu ni" meaning "it's the devil's fault" (which implies that they were under spell or jinx; things Esu is also known for). For me, I don't believe any Yoruba that is a Christian regards 'Esu' as 'Satan' as there is no angelic reference in the Yoruba mythology. It's just a general belief among Yorubas that anything bad is of Esu. I think the knowledge we need of you want us to be informed are those things that are good about 'Esu' that we might not know and the kinds of 'Esu' that we have. According to our mythology there's Esu Elegbara, Odara, Ebita, Ogo, Sobi etc. Thank you (just sharing my opinion).
For the record Ogun is not god of iron Ogun is a Yoruba great icon and he is never a god Yoruba really lacks documentation Ogun was called god by the British
