I gave my S22U to my mother, and got the iPhone 13PM. I learned that I much prefer Android, but I couldn't justify another S22U because of the battery life - it was perfect apart from that, in my opinion. I am so pleased to see these reviews of the S23U, especially in regards to battery. I am glad to see Samsung is focusing less on grand innovations each year and more in improving and perfecting what is working so well. I'll be selling my iPhone 13PM while the resale value is still so high, and ordering my S23U later this week. So excited for the more squared off edges! I do understand why a lot of people like the iPhone, but it's definitely Samsung for me!

It's always been samsung for me, purely because I can't stand looking at an iphone screen after I've had the luxury of the flashy designs of samsung phones. My s22u somehow is brilliant for battery life. Sitting at 25 hours off the charger with 3 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time and 53% battery remaining. Not saying those with battery issues are lying, but I guess I got lucky with the silicon lottery, because my phone has not had issues whatsoever.
I agree though that Samsung seems to have made their offering WAY more reliable with the s23u. I used to think that iPhone was the most easy phone to recommend, but nowadays it's the opposite, especially with the s23u. All the reviewers say the battery life and smoothness finally matches iphone, which means that the iphone is just worse than samsung in every way except for their ecosystem of devices working together better than sammy. The iphone screen with the ugly island and lower resolution is objectively worse. The charging speed on the iphone is objectively WAY worse. The freedom to do what you want and interface with a windows computer as well as anything else is way worse. The file management is miles behind samsung. The keyboard is terrible and you can't change anything about it on iphone (No number row, yuck). The only thing that can be said about iphone is the apps are sometimes better on ios (this is changing rapidly especially with samsung partnering with the major social media apps)
It used to be a no brainer: Get the iphone. Now it's a no brainer in the opposite direction unless ios gets major changes, and apple stops using that ugly phone design that seems to be from 2007.
Sorry if I start any fanboy wars crap with this. I'm not trying to. I'm simply giving my thought process as to what I think is better. This is all my opinion and I still think if you like iphone, you're not wrong to use one.

      True.
But there is more to this.
We, asked Samsung in Germany about this issue. Their reply to the email was made public in the German Members community.
First there is GB vs GiB, and how their file manager handles this, they consider to change it. Second, like you described, by default there is the system and apps displayed bc of the lack of permission for the file manager.

Long term apple fanboy here. I've left iOS for the S23 Ultra and I really don't regret it. There are a couple of things I miss, I think the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is not as good as the Apple watch (touch sensitivity and UI design is a little unpolished in places) and I actually prefer the notifications being readable on iOS 16 on the Always On Display. However, this is pretty minor stuff. The Snap Dragon S23U is so much better this year compared to the Exynos S22U, Apple for me has kind of stagnated of late and need to break out once again, I found the 14 Pro Max a disappointing phone (products that Covid built?) and iOS 16 had far more bugs that it should have.

There is an option to make notifications readable in the lock screen on Samsung. I left Samsung for iPhone for the first time, I bought the iPhone 14 ProMax and boy am I dissapponted. Apps keep crashing and have all kind of bugs, no file system, UI is unintuitive, iOS is not optimized for big screens and so much more. It's not 56gb of storage by the system. When you see the "App" line, there is a ℹ next to it and this is to grant authorization of space
So, the 56 gb will split in two : one for the system and the other half for the app. Now, everything is in the system because you didn't grant authorization (sorry for my English, I'm French)

Yes, the camera should be a lot better (not many honest reviews about it, shutter lag is probably the weakest point of whole phone), vibration could be better (I have a lot of missed calls and notifications, upgraded from Note10+), there should be less bloatware (it's absurd that some double apps can't be deleted), but it's pretty much the best phone out there. Even if it's not the best ("best" is pretty subjective thing, I know a lot of people that could afford 10 flagships a year, but for them 200-300 bucks phones are the best). Yes, if you buy phone just because of camera - Iphone is still dominant. Don't even think about S23 Ultra. But, everything else - I think Samsung got pretty close or is probably better. In last 6-7 years I've been using Samsungs flagships, and as I'm in Exynos region I really tried to get back to Iphone (mostly because of battery life and camera results, my last Iphone was Iphone 8) and - I just couldn't do it. I guess I got used to squared display so watching media on Iphone just didn't seem as good. Operating system is perfect, but (especially with hardware Iphones have) it's shame that latest Iphone has pretty much the same features Iphone X, or even 8 has. No real multitasking, not even split screen - "it just works" just shouldn't be enough in 2023. Also, connecting Iphone with anything that's not Apple product can be real nightmare. Hardcore Apple fans should be more demanding (Samsung fans also) or we'll get pretty much the same devices year after year. So - enjoy your device (whatever it may be) and don't overthink about what to buy, what's a little better or worse - it's just a phone after all, a device that should make our life easier not give us headache or overthinking :)

@@Thatbeardedguy86 It's mostly a laptop issue. My decision to go with iPhone was based on my disenchantment with laptops in 2019-2020. I went through numerous laptop issues when I switch from my mid-2015 MacBook to Windows laptops (i.e. Dell's). When the M1 Pro/Max came out, I switched back because, well, M1 Pro/Max. It was and continues to be the best laptop I've ever owned. My Note20U was the best smartphone I ever owned but it didn't work seamlessly with my M1P: photos, airdrop, iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Also, I've had bad experiences on the Android side when it came to Support/Warranty and the lack of universal upgrade implementation drove me batty. So, when my lease expired on the Note, I decided to switch to iPhone mostly for the ecosystem. I know that in many respects the S23 may be better than the iPhone PM, but it's more than that for me. That also made me upgrade my Galaxy Watch to the Apple Watch Series 8, which I love, surprisingly, since the Galaxy Watch is no slouch. Everything simply works so well together (locking/unlocking, email-browser handoff, FindMy, etc. etc.). It's a package deal for me. Completely headache free at the moment and loving it!
PS - Having said all that, I am currently upgrading my XPS 15 9500 to the 9530 (13th gen, RTX 4070) LOL! Why? Why else? For some light gaming! MacBooks are still so far behind in this respect.

I'm a big time believer in Samsung Ultra phones. As a visually impaired man, those Zoom lenses help me in my everyday life to see things that I would not be able to on other phones. But as someone who upgrades every year, this S23 is something special. It's faster, smoother, and has way better battery life than any phone prior. And now that they've built up their ecosystem, it works great with the buds and the watch and the tablet. There's not a better experience on Android in my opinion.

The S23 Ultra is the best "PHONE" ever, not just the best Android... I've never understood what the "i"idiots see in the iphone. I've owned them, and played with the updated iterations my friends have purchased, and it's SOOOOOOO LIMITED in what you can do with almost ZERO CUSTOMIZATION. So really personalizing them is limited to the point of them all looking alike. Also, the only reason it's even remotely fast is because the software comes from ONLY one source, designed ONLY for that phone. But it's a much more remarkable feat to have a FASTER phone which can show that speed in ALL apps from all designers which were designed for multiple phones. The "slave-like" ecosystem of CRapple is also soooooo restrictive, and holds your media for ransom.
The S23 Ultra is the best all around phone on the planet, and that's an incredible feat considering how new it is. These phones tend to get better over time as slight bugs are worked out, and I believe the same will be true of this device, although it's hard to find any real "problem childs" within it. Really it's only nit picky things. There are sooooo many features I've learned about from different reviewers, that all the other reviewers didn't even know about. So I'm wondering how many haven't been discovered just yet??? For example, the S pen has massive capabilities that I've only seen a few reviewers cover. And these incredible features have taken my mindset from, "oh well I'll probably never use it", to holy smokes that is so useful and it will revolutionize my use of this device. Stay tuned...

I get the thing with bloatware too, but my experience of the phone is, it hasn't had any glitches or stutters or app crashes unlike the pixel (with 12 gb of ram remember) that constantly closed background apps, constantly glitched badly, had regular app crashes.....god i hated that phone. Samsung's actual system usage is a bit of a trick. Because of the conceptual difference between binary and decimal, your smartphone's 256GB of storage, like your computer's, actually has 238GB of usable storage, and Samsung has labeled that 18GB difference as system capacity. Otherwise, people would have complained about why their smartphone only has 238GB when it has 256GB.

It's not just for phones, it's for all electronics in existence. They convert GiB to GB and the conversion loss results in "less storage" even though you've technically not lost anything.
