Because White’s secondary plays 20yds back & is absolutely dependent on the blitz messing up the QB’s throw, the D-line can never just contain the QB. They have to blitz hard, and *that often leaves gaps for the QB to run*. Bc of that, teams with a just passable O-line can basically choose whether they want to eat us up thru the air, or beat us on 3rd & long’s with QB runs.
They’re still top 20, but our LB’s & secondary (overall) have got to get better if we want to get any better on defense.

The Blackshirts played a HUGE part in each of Nebraska’s victories this season, and aside from Illinois and Indiana games, if Nebraska had a competent and consistent offense, I believe they win the Ohio State and UCLA games as well.

Blackshirts couldn't stop UCLAs QB and so not a lot of hope they can stop good QBs that can through short and medium passes with accuracy and that are mobile.

with all their steps back, I'm not sure I'd pick them over any team

I agree that Rhule is not the same guy he was 3 months ago. He’s way more beaten down and guarded when he talks. I don’t think he expected us to be 115th on offense having to basically fire Satt mid season, it completely blindsided him.

I think our offense will look a little better but not sure what defense will show up. We are gonna try and shut down their run and so if Maiva is accurate and uses legs, we could be in trouble.

50/50 depending if this new OC can call plays that actually move the ball. sattercrap couldnt call a play that could get more then 2 yards most of the time.

I agree with yall. This game is jus bad timing w all these transitions. And usc while very flawed is very dangerous. I'm not hopeful. However I will say I do believe Dana can help exponentially right away. He may not totally change or add plays. However he CAN take the plays we have and tweek a route here n there. As apose to everyone jus tunning drag routes and fly patterns and fades. I also I believe his intuition and understanding of game flow as it's happening in game is on another level compared to Sat. As well as setting up plays better within drives and quarters. That can easily be your ten to 14 point differential all to itself.

Nebraska has never beaten USC,they are 0-4-1 against them.I don't see Nebraska winning and I think it's going to be bad.Now USC has a quarterback who can run and pass,we don't,we still have a one dimensional QB and that hurts us whether anybody wants to admit it or not.

It's not about the plays or tweeking anything.. it's about having a feel for the game, thebother team, and attack consistently building up to the money plays
Satterfield didn't have that in him.

That is just it some games they played like they had chance to beat anyone and some games they played like they could not win against anyone

Finally, someone pointing out the arm strength we saw from Haarberg! I truly think our best shot is with him at QB due to his ability to get the ball to our receivers much quicker (before windows close) and his running ability. Raiola throws a beautiful ball but I have yet to see him really sizzle one. Instead, he sees the window closing then checks down and dumps one off to a running back in the flat (for a couple yards if we’re lucky). I’m not knocking him, he’s the best freshman QB in the country… but he’s still a freshman and plays like one.
We need one more win and in my opinion, Haarberg is our best shot against USC…

Although it seems lately that under pressure Raiola has been inaccurate.

Raiola isn’t better than Austin Simmons. He won that game for ole miss against Georgia. His one td drive set the tone for the game and he looked better than Railoa ever has

USC will win and cover. Satt Mcguire were not the best choices available when Ruhle hired them. It has never been asked or explained how Satt was given top 3 Big Ten OC pay given his background. Nebraska leadership is structurally un sound.
