My thing is yes they are wingers these past few seasons but before he had nuno mendes and pedro Porro who are actually full backs playing the wing back so we could see full backs there not just wingers.
I completely echo your point about the midfielders role in Amorim’s system being hard to define. Weirdly, I think his “ideal” midfield 2 would suit the midfields of 4-4-2s of eras gone by. Think Keane and Scholes or Seedorf and Gattuso or Keane and Ince. One or both need to be all action box to box type players. The creativity is left to the WBs and inside forwards just like it was left to wingers of old (Beckham, Giggs etc) albeit in a different way. Amorim’s midfield is a throwback rather than the 6/8/10 combo that modern teams try to play.
Getting Alphonso would definitely be an absolute steal. Also, I think getting someone like Branthwaite can literally unlock Garnacho to become an absolute baller at LWB
Davies would be an absolute steal for us. Raises our physical floor and gives us a crazy outlet. Adding Branthwaite gives us great depth. Would really look to sell Licha and get someone who is well balanced defensively and offensively. For the Midfield, we don’t have a pace maker who is equally physical. A mixture of Case and Eriksen who is mobile and able to control games. I feel that is the midfield option that we need to prioritize. And equally playing MDL and Ugarte really takes away from any central ball playing control and delegates a lot of work on the wide CB’s. Need to have a balance there. So either a ball playing dominant CCB or a ball playing dominant CM
When u mentioned mount it just reminded me when we were signing I was harping on about how this was a disaster of a signing when people were celebrating now he’s just an after thought on high money with the number 7 and the manger who bought him is sacked fair to say it was a disaster 😅
Do you think we may be interested in Matheus Nunes? I'm curious to know if an opportunity like Nunes, who paired Ugarte at Sporting, comes up, would INEOS be tempted to move for him? Also curious if INEOS would account for "fan outrage" for going after a City player even if it's potentially the best option in the market for say $30m? Interesting thought I had, appreciate your work James.
Pythagoras In Boots, is a good TH-cam channel that does football analysis and their analysis of Jarrad is not good. And Jarrad Branthwait's fbref report on his passing is horrible. To be honest I haven't watched a lot of him but I wonder why Man United wants him?
Hands up if you got why Liverpool wanted VVD so much (or Salah; or Robertson; or City with KDB.) I'm not saying he's anywhere as good as VVD, I'm just saying maybe the people whose job it is to identify players for a set system might actually know what they're doing.
Davies is a huge upgrade. What about Jonathan David beside Bruno? He is a very smart and mobile player. Free Bruno to do his thing also. While provide a proven scorer to the team
. Kvara Gyokeres Amad Davis Mastanato Kobbie Dibling Branwaite Yoro Mazouri Onana Over 2 years worth of transfers (4 windows) we genuinely could have an insane team all getable (6 players)
After that one season where literally every Bayern player was on roids. Davies hasn’t been seen since plus bundesliga tax. Not saying hed be bad but at least with ait nouri we know what we’re getting
He is free, but not cheap. Davies on free with 10m signing on bonus and 12.5 yearly wage over 5 years cost 72.5m Kerkez for 36m with 5m yearly wage would cost about 61m. We need to be careful with giving these huge wages. If the players work, fine, but if they fail, we can't fet rid of them. Every summer we can't sell players we want to sell, because we gave them stupid wage.
Completely disagree with Mainoo fitting that all action 8. He’s really, noticeably poor off the ball and in particular when a team counters us. The phrase “parachute strapped to his back” applies.
Would A.davies coming in on £300k/week affect the changing room? INEOS are trying to move away from sky high wages. Even though it might be cheaper on the books than £40m new LWB on £100k/week over 5 years
Realistically don't see anyone touching 300k/week with the new structure. According to Spotrac: Malacia 75k/week, Dalot - 85k/week, Maz - 135k/week, Shaw 150k/week if we base if off fullbacks I could see them matching Shaw's wages or going just above it. Could also see them looking at De ligt 195k/week and Antony 200k/week as a barometer if they are going the route of "highest paid defender" or paying him like a winger. I don't see him getting more than 200k/week though. Only players at or over 200k/week are Casemrio, Rashford, Mount, Bruno and Antony.
@@paulo-g4x exactly lol. I think LCB, LWB, Mid, and MAYBE Gyokeres if Hojlund and Zirkzee continue to struggle in front of goal by end of season would be the most we do, and we aren't shifting half the roster to it hahahaha
At the price points being quoted Branthwaite doesnt really seem to make any sense. Defensive frailties may be coached out, but I'm dubious of his ability to play the type of football you described yesterday in build up. Being 6'5" doesn't really matter. I don't really see it worth the 75M price tag. There must be similarly profiled guys for much less and we don't pay Prem and english tax. That would be a weird one from management. and we should be doing more with less. Dont we already have a kid in the academy at 6'5" LOL Same goes for davies. All the 350K/week free agents....been there done that. Not needed. Maz has shown himself to be a great all rounder and maybe more valuable elsewhere but he might excel at LCB. Defensively strong. aggressive. great passer, ball carrier, etc. If we play the way James describes, Garna and Antony would love to play WB and cut inside spamming. I do worry that James said that the WB has to be a great passer in the final third. Garna has proven a pretty poor decision maker. Pumped for this weekend when all the speculation goes out the window!
Be interesting to see how highly the club rate Dan Gore because he sounds taylor make for the midfield role you described. Ive seen a bit if Hayden Hackney since you mentioned him and he seems a better fit than Rigg to me.
Branthwaite doesn't pass the eye test for me. Goes to ground to tackle too much when it's unnecessary, and his long balls are slow. Basically Maguire hardware with AWB software. I think the interest is driven mainly because he's homegrown, and we definitely need more homegrown players in the squad. If he's cheap and he can play a squad role then I don't mind, but if the club is looking for starting quality, they need to look elsewhere.
Dude the software joke is spot on. I think he might be viewed as Kyle Walker type of cover. City without prime Walker is not the same. I think this is the point of Branthwaite. If we want to play with high line, we need CB that can cover a lot of ground. Martinez is actually weak when he has to defend space in behind.
I think thats fair, and the thing is with a 3ATB you do want that physical specimen in coverage which walker often did when they were in a 3ATB build up
His passing is not elite. Pythagoras in Boots on TH-cam does a good analysis on him. Whether he can improve in that area I don’t know, but as it is, he’s levels below Martinez on the ball.
Davies linked, no thanks, MUFC don't need more big wage players, Varane gone, Casemiro no one wanted him, in summer , Rashford, Eriksen Maguire and Bruno on huge wages to.
My thing is yes they are wingers these past few seasons but before he had nuno mendes and pedro Porro who are actually full backs playing the wing back so we could see full backs there not just wingers.
Against stronger competition then possibly. We should not be playing with 5 defenders against most clubs.
We will definitely see both.

💯
Completely agree. And those players exist. In some ways it makes it easier, but the main thing is you don’t want those pure creatives in it.
Baleba at Brighton.. proper all action midfielder
Yes,he is a very good player,I like this guy.
Getting Alphonso would definitely be an absolute steal.
Also, I think getting someone like Branthwaite can literally unlock Garnacho to become an absolute baller at LWB
If we get Davies then Garnacho is not playing LWB. Unbelievable strength if we had Branthwaite at LB and Davies at LWB. Wow.

Would we still be looking at Adam Wharton? I remember a few months back on this channel he was talked about as someone that the new leadership LOVED
Yessir I actually forgot about him for this, but he does fit, perhaps a little more in the deeper role than more advanced however.
I bought him on FM24 and won the league
@@Muppetiers he not worth 100 million 😂
Palacio from Leverkusen would be a great signing for the midfield role, Quality cover for both Ugarte and Kobbie
Pogba on a free ! All action midfielder.
Lmao. Yeah, very active on the injury table.
Branthwaite is a monster dueller and ground eater. That particular transfer is inevitable despite his deficiencies in possession.
Great video James
Angelo Stiller, Rayan Cherki and Osimhen
Gyokeres over Osihmen
Disagree with not needing a deep midfielder - still think we need a 6 who can help control games through possession
We can get Angelo Stiller
Javi guerra from valencia would be sn excellent back up to Mainoo.
Can never go wrong with a Ruben 🔥🔥🔥

I still have not seen anything with him to suggest he’s worth anything over 30 mil. Apart from his height he’s bang average
@Moonmaestro11 I wonder what's the fascination with him from Manchester United? Maybe it's his height?

Bruno as one of the midfield 2 is a big possibility when I saw the last winning team training Bruno Mount Amad? Thats 3 10s unless Bruno was an 8
We can't play shaw and martinez on the left side... it's not gonna work imo
I wanted us to sign pancho or hincapie but we’ve allowed him to move to PSG
You know at the end off the day no matter how you try to dress it up clubs do get players for managers. It's just people didn't like ETH choices 😂😂
If Leicester and Wolves get relegated I wouldn't mind getting Ndidi (DM) and J.Gomes (CM) as cheap cover for the midfield
I still would want Soumare > ndidi, we don’t need a destroyer anymore we’ve got Ugarte.
