Originally, the 'mouth light' went through a piercing in his cheek (he is a punk by nature). It became a no-go after infection set in. I am enjoying your discovery of Rammstein, the big deal for me is that Till (the singer), is as much an actor as a singer. He always writes lyrics in the 1st person, he is playing the role of the character - the more distorted the better it seems! I dare you to go for 'Buck Dich' live in Berlin! (you won't).
I knew he had his cheek pierced to use the light for a video, I was hoping he got talked out of it for tour. In the making of for the video one of the other members (I forget which one) was talking about how painful it was and then said "you know Till has to have pain"
Hearing this as the opener when I saw them was one of those experiences thats hard to fully describe that riff in person ripped my fuckin face off blew the roof off the stadium cant believe it was 10 years ago already
You can see how happy they are to reconnect with their American fans. They quit the US after 9-11 because they thought the country had gone mad with hysteria. Then came back almost ten years later for ONE concert in MSG and- a German and German singing NDH band sold out MSG in 18-20 minutes. This is the concert were Iggy Pop relates how they offered him earplugs saying "You will need these", and how it was still too loud "My whole body was shaking". Stephen Tyler said he could roast marshmellows- and he was not in the front row, and Chad Smith became a hero by getting tickets to his teenage son who loves them. And where either he or the guy from Amthrax says "Rammstein is everything we Americans think of Germany- it just runs like a well-oiled machine", and it does; as you said, they are really good musicians. Even though Paul, Richard, Oliver and Kristoph never shows off in flashy solos, they NEVER make mistakes, and Flake is just... Flake. You want to watch the documentary of their relationship with America culminating with this concert, it is also a beautiful story of how six punks from behind the Iron curtain struggled to win America, gave up, and won it anyway to come back and shine in MSG.
Look up the concert in Russia, there were over 2 million people attending that concert. You won’t believe your eyes. People as far as the eye can see!!
I always thought of Rammstein as being the perfect "rock-machine" They are so tight together ...Solid in their execution. This is the Band that makes me want to slam my head through a wall, and keep going!! It all works together quite nicely, wouldn't ya say?

Hey Guys, I'm from Germany and a big fan of this Band. I saw them live multiple times by now and they amase me every time. The best video to understand the messages of their songs is in my opinion " Man gegen Man". There is a live Video from Paris to it. The song is about the discrimination of the gay society and how they have to hide in some parts of the world. This band speaks out what some people fear to say. They earned a lot of critic for this but they just don't care. I think everybody should speak out as free as they do. There is a video of the singer with two flame throwers one malfunctioned antecedently setting fire to one of the band members who still playing rushed off stage clothing on fire where the crew used fire extinguishers to put him out. Not sure if went to hospital or came back on. After that they did it again but deliberately making it so good. If notice the bass and guitarist never move that is they are the right distance away from things when using the pyrotechnics. I think they are the only band that gives credit to their manager as part of the band. My favourite was putting the keyboard player in a huge pot and cooking him what fun they all were.

Youd love "ich will" live, the hurricane festival recording is pretty good, but there are so many versions its hard to pick the best.

Yesss, I think because they band is so on point it's often overlooked how difficult it is to make those very rigid riffs sound clean and so insync.
