    For the sleep apnea machines, I would recommend using distilled water instead of regular water so it doesn’t lead to deposits.

    • @kristiphillips7783

      Yes, agree! I am surprised they never told you that. Just keep a gallon in the kids room that need the machines. All kinds of build up can happen from tap water that will make the machines work harder or not at all.

      Not sure if you will see this, but Lilee being able to show this side of her to the world while she’s at such an impressionable age is very impressive. If there was any testament to her judgement for being able to drive a jeep responsibly and not show off in-front of a group of peers to impress them this is it.

      I know you get a lot of messages just make sure you use distilled water you can’t uss sink water. I’ve had severe sleep apnea for a while but I’ve only been wearing a mask for a year straight because it was really hard for me. you’re such a great mom to go to the lengths you do to make sure that they have the right mask and everything they need.

    I also have severe sleep apnea. When tested, I stopped breathing 200+ times in 1 hour. Prior to the sleep machine, I was afraid to sleep and always tired. A couple of things that I did notice in the video is that the machine should be on a separate table close to the bed. Also should only use distilled water in the unit. Also they make special pillows for face sleepers with sleep apnea. They are pricey, but might help your kids.

    I loveee love love that you are making a video of this and just spreading awareness . I was diagnosed with sleep apnea when I was 13 and I was always so embarrassed by it when my friends would come over, or if I went to overnight camp. I didn’t know how to explain it when I was young and it made me feel different because I didn’t know anyone with sleep apnea, at one point I refused to wear it and I would wake up before my parents so they wouldn’t know.

    The machine should be placed on a table or nightstand by the bed, not on the bed. With CPAP machines with humidifiers, you need to make sure the water doesn't damage the electrical parts of the machines

    This could be an incentive towards Lilee earning her car! I think the biggest thing for her is to sleep train not on her face. I was a side sleeper my whole life and had to retrain myself at age 30ish due to nerve damage in my shoulder. She can do it!

    Sorry to correct you, love you guys so much but the machine doesn’t remind your brain to breath what it does is give constant air pressure to keep your airways open. The machine is called CPAP which means continuous positive airway pressure which as I say keeps the airways open and stops the collapse that you spoke about. Hope the new things help them wear them.x

    @cindywhiteman1236 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Sleep Apnea is also hereditary. I have used a CPAP for 23 years. I currently use a nasal cushion with a chin strap. It helps a lot.
    For those with a nasal pillow or nasal cushion, they have a chin strap that helps to keep the mouth closed at night. The ones with the cloth headgear need to watch for loosing and wearing out of the cloth. It stretches a lot and wears out fast. I did not like it. It always felt like it got too loose.

    So sorry your kids have to deal with this. I have severe obstructive sleep apnea and I have an issue with my oxygen levels so I use a CPAP and oxygen for whenever I sleep. I had been falling asleep a lot in my recliner without my machines but when I casually mentioned it to my pulmonologist he told me under no circumstances to allow that to ever happen again!

  • @Bummer1980
    @Bummer1980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I use the same mask Luke does. I’m not sure if they told you but the machines are suppose to be kept on a hard surface, like their night stands. I struggle to keep my mask on at night. I usually wake up having removed it in my sleep. I’ve had 5 sleep studies for multiple disorders. I have narcolepsy, sleep apnea and PLMD (periodic limb movement disorder). My body just has not figured out sleep. I wake around 800 times in an 8 hour sleep cycle and even with my CPAP due to my narcolepsy I never reach REM sleep. I never wake up feeling like I’ve slept. I never have energy. Unfortunately Im allergic to narcolepsy meds or have had severe negative mental health effects. So I just sleep more than the average person.

    I'm actually a sleep technician and yes sleep apnea is when u stop breathing at night. It has a lot to do with getting up to use the bathroom during the night as well. And also weight and genetics play a part. There is a scale 5-15 is mild 15-30 is moderate and anything above 30 is severe and that just means how many time us top breathing an hour!! If u have any questions lmk!!

    Hey! I also sleep on a sleep apnea machine and I HIGHLY recommend using distilled water, my doctor said it could lead to bacteria in the hose and then you're breathing that in 😬 also they sell little elbows for the back that allow for movement and it doesn't damage the hose.

    The water in the tank needs to be distilled water or you risk breathing in everything in tap water also the nasal mask doesn’t “remind the brain to breathe” it’s just another method of delivering that constant pressure to keep your airway open same as the full face mask. Benefits of the nasal mask is it covers less of your face and most people find it to be more comfortable and less crazy looking than the full face mask ❤️ also definitely find them night stands the CPAP needs to be level with the bed but NOT on the bed ❤️

    Excite is excellent for this! It’s not a machine, but just a little like toothbrush u put in your mouth. Try them out!

    I have the same res med machine .I didn't know that you could use a phone app with it. I'm going to have to figure that out. Saw that in an older video, but couldn't comment on it.
    Do they prefer the ones that are in their nose rather than over the nose? I use the over the nose one, but it slides around.

    I have one just like there machines one thing that has helped with mine with the dryness is that I got heated tubing though after seeing this it made me think about seeing about trading out for another mask I really liked lilee’s mask cause I really liked it great video and something I can show others to help explain it better when asked about it

      I use Lilee mask, I use to use the Dream wear mask which is similar. I like the Dream wear nasal cradle better, but the Reamed headgear works better for me

    I have to use a machine for light apnea and teeth grinding/clinching. Aren’t you supposed to use that certain type of bottled water? Also so it makes it easier mine goes under my bed just close enough to fill the tank and press the button. That way it doesn’t get knocked off and the tubing isn’t in the way. My dad has his in an box under the bed too
