  • On Labor day weekend 2019 we were able to take the scamp out for the first time. We headed to the last dog friendly camp site at Bass River State park in nj to spend our first night in the scamp...and figure out how everything works. This was in preparation for our week long Fall camping trip that was coming up the following week! #scamp #rv #camping

    You guys need to get a "Hitch Lock" so that your Scamp stays put whilst your not at the camp. Much to easy for someone to back up, hitch up, then drive away, less than 2 minutes. A hitch lock makes it much, much harder for them to take not only your Scamp but everything inside.

    • @LetNewAdventuresBegin
      @LetNewAdventuresBegin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      we have a hitch lock on the Scamp as well as our Tiny House- it is just too easy to hook up otherwise. Patrick also got a wheel lock for extra security if we are away from the Scamp for a longer time- can't be too careful! 👍

    Camped at Bass river all my life. That and Godfreys bridge in Wharton state forest. Being in Brigantine gave me an escape from the island and i was camping in the woods in a half hours time.

      We go to Brigantine beach frequently- Patrick was a lifeguard there for many years at south jetty/ Sandy Lane and we take Redford to the north end to run around on the beach!

      Web Browne that is a very true statement! We just leave things to the very last minute so we can see what the weather wants to do & then figure it out. As we get more comfortable with the scamp in the future I think we will just wing it and see what happens- always makes for an interesting experience

    Change grease in wheel bearings and new seals. lubricate all metal, check springs. Check any small cracks especially around bolts on fiberglass. Check window seals.

      @@judysuprtrkr3423 I am sorry to hear that Judy- it is risky buying a used trailer, especially when you are not exactly sure what to look out for as someone that is new to the RV world. Can you still use the camper? Is there any way to fix it?

    I was really glad that we were able to do this little practice trip with the Scamp before our 9 day trip... just to get a little practice in, even though we didnt get to try the hookups- but we got to play around with that on the next trip

    Hey just found your videos I’m from north jersey Dover Rockaway area if your familiar with that but anyways I was wonder where you got that long leash for your pup I’ve been looking around and haven’t found any like that thanks

    • @LetNewAdventuresBegin
      @LetNewAdventuresBegin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I grew up in north jersey & Rockaway had the best mall around- as soon as I could drive thats where I went with my friends 😁 we use a 30 foot training leash for Redford when we are at camp- gives him some space to move around, but keeps the rangers happy that he is still on a leash- we got it on amazon, just have to be careful he doesnt try to chew it because he can get through a nylon leash in a second

      Hi William, yes finding a spot to park is the biggest challenge, but it is worth looking. We really love living in a tiny house and it would be even better where you live because the hardest part is getting through the winter here!

      we got ours used just before the pandemic so lots of things have changed in the used RV market- best thing is to check fiberglassrv.com to see prices. We have a Jeep Cherokee which is not an ideal tow vehicle, but we are making it work 👍

    Hey, love the vlogs. Would you say there was alot of displacement when the scamp was in motion and if yes why? Also what are the pros and cons compared to tent camping
    Thank you and keep maximizing on you guys!!

    • @LetNewAdventuresBegin
      @LetNewAdventuresBegin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the scamp does not have any suspension so things move around a bit, we had some things fall out of the cabinets when going through the mountain of west virginia, but fixed that quickly with a hair tie 😁The good thing is that there are fewer things to break and then fix without a complex suspension (that is really important to us). As for making the switch to an RV from a tent- that could be a whole video! we are still tent campers ( I just put up a video from our recent tent camping trip in Florida) the tent gives you access to remote locations, but the RV gives you comfort and extends the season. Thanks for the great questions 😁👍

      @@LetNewAdventuresBegin Did not consider the suspension aspect of it. Thanks for sharing and insight.

      the previous owners got the scamp from the factory & I believe they added the canopy a few years later (we figured that out when we were trying to set it up using the scamp videos on the website and ours was different) I think I have the paperwork somewhere- I will see if I can find it
