Here in Florida we call plaster the white product that is used mainly on interior drywalls. Plastering a wall here means covering all the nails or screws, taping the seams and so on. I was a little confused when I saw the title and thought, Plaster an exterior wall? Need to see this. The joke's on me. Good video and good info.
Thanks for your videos, they're very educational! It was hard to hear what your parging mix is. It sounds like two buckets of [????] and one bucket of S mortar. What's the word I'm missing?
I have never used a primer but just plain Portland as a paint just like my video How I repair of fix a foundation Part 2, but I live in Pa and it makes a difference because of the freezing. so I can't comment on it. what I would do is plaster over a piece of old plywood or something to practice first.. I wish you well. it will come together for you I am sure thanks for the comment. mike
Sir, what do you call the one you are applying sand and cement and what do you call the one you are making a plane. Sir, I have mixed sand, cement and water but sand, cement had not pasted in the wall .it was falling down sand, cement in the earth?
Hi , I hope you wet the surface of what you are plastering first, usually if you do not wet it it won't stick, watch my foundation repair videos, thanks, Mike
@@MikeHaduck sir i had wet it earlier before applying.sir i had kept sand, cement in my store.sand and cement had kept for many years.is that reason sand and cement is old thats why its not stick ?
@@MikeHaduck sir which cement i used this is in open bucket i have another cement also which is in plastic bag i will use that cement then i will tell you the result
Have you had issue with the joints "telegraphing" through? I would tend to use wire mesh or crack-free mesh (plastic stuff) to help avoid telegraphing, though it's a purely cosmetic issue.
Hi cee, with traditional cement I always get some, but sometimes it will bleach out over time, or I use a white cement that hides everything, or a masonry paint, I rarely use wire unless over wood, I got a whole playlist on " foundation repair " I show all my techniques there, thanks Mike
@@MikeHaduck OK, paint will do it. I see a lot of telegraphing with block and have always wondered what I would do to avoid. I think that if the stucco has enough coverage then it's generally due to the different suction of the block vs the mortar. Maybe just more coats.
Mike. I just installed myself a dry flatstone wall. I would like to cement the capstones inplace for a better look. Do you see a problem with that? Thanks Pete
I'll be plastering my first wall at the weekend. Covering up some ugly breezeblocks. Primer on Saturday. Plaster on Sunday. Do i still need to use water if I used primer? Pretty nervous about it. Really don't want to feck it up.
Mike can you plaster over a old painted block wall, the paint is old but holding well ? The building is a garage with many patches from changing out old windows and entry door.. Thanks in advance..
+Joseph M going over a painted wall is very iffy, I will not do it unless I cut into it with a small diamond bit. check out my "How I do stucco videos" , I think they might help. thanks mike
Pardon me for asking of you, though PaddleDogC5 and G-Mack, 58, do tell me, what instructional videos you have posted? I mean, you do seem to be professed geniuses.... Cheers
@G-Mack, 58. I've been in it 16 years and we often use old mattresses etc for sponges...they're free, tight and flat and pretty handy for floating tight spaces, details and curves
I got plastered tonight in honor of you!
Thanks Mike, lol
just did my steps after watching your 3 step video-now I will learn to parge.
thanks, I hope it helps mike
thanks, it is my way of doing it. everybody has their own way. mike

Is this just Portland cement or a mix? What do you think of the stuff with the fibers mixed in, it is very pricey, worth the extra cost? Thanks!
