If you can't find the space for an industrial, Juki makes smaller, more domestic sewing machines like the 2010Q. I also recently purchased a Janome HD9, which is REALLY hefty. I'll be reviewing that and posting a video on it soon!

I have hand sewn a few bags people love. I have some sort of mental block on using my sewing machine, I can never seem to get my stitches straighter or master the tension on a machine. Anyway, just starting to get back into trying the machine version. I def have less tech/tools than you. But I love LOVE this tutorial. I especially loved the tips on adding the D ring with the tape. Big help! I was taught to use pins but your clips look smarter. All in all this was a great video. No way am I ready to attempt all the curves on a machine yet but I can’t wait to try. Thank you for all your hard work on the video. PS: I substitute the card holder things for a very thin zippered coin purse pocket because you are right, things just fall out of the card holder pocket but I like hiding two keys, money, ID in there if I’m just running out and don’t want to take my whole purse. Thanks again!

Very well-made and detailed tutorial. For those who think this is a beginner sewer tutorial, sorry to tell you: it's not! Curves might be tricky to sew, faux leather or vinyl might as well be, zipper tabs might be difficult to work with. This tutorial is full of tips that can be reused on several other occasions. So my score for you is : A++. You're also very funny, really enjoyable to listen to!
I've always had difficulty understanding sewing patterns and instructions that come with them. I get so frustrated that I just quit on projects. You do such an excellent job of explaining things, that I have new confidence that I get back into sewing without tantrums!!!!

I put the zipper on one side and top stitch that side then add the zipper to the other side. Then you only have the weirdness to top stitch on the second side :) I'm so glad I found your videos. I loved the tutorial and have watched over and over, step by step. I didn't put the wristlet part on, just wanted to try it. I used some vinyl I had not sure what sort. It looks really good and I'm very pleased with it but just at the end pulling it all through some of the vinyl has split and cracked.
OH NOOO!!! Do you know what kind of vinyl it was? If it was from a custom print group, those are fleece lined. You'll want to put a layer of woven interfacing on it so it won't rip and tear like that :(
No it's just some I have had for a while. It is fairly thin and just mesh on the back. I'm not too bothered it was a trial run. I have made 3 since yesterday haha. They look 👍🏽 🛍. A huge thankyou to you 🏆

I get frustrated by videos that leave out details or cut things. I try not to fast forward too much, but of course if it's the second time I've done something fairly basic, I'll speed it up.

It really depends on the thickness of the materials being used. On a domestic machine, AT LEAST a 90/14 and going up to 110/18 if I need to for vinyls. My industrial machine has a size 21 needle in it.

as far as pronunciation, my mother grew them and pronounced them with a long A in the middle and emphasis on that middle syllable. Come to find out, that isn't actually right. Dang! I really don't know how to say it now but I think I will make some of these little bags.

Yeaaaaah. I had a kind person tell me that there were a few seconds of SUPER LOUD static in the middle, so I opted to export and re-post it here while it was still early in the process. It was a pretty important thing I was saying at that point. No clue why Premiere exported static, but it's fixed now!
Not the best video tutorial and not the worst I’ve seen. It would be FAR easier to follow along if it wasn’t a flat gray interior. I had to rewind a few times to get a good look at which side was the right side and still crossed my fingers hoping I did it correctly. As a visual learner, those things are helpful. If you can handle the “quirkiness”, you’ll possibly enjoy this tutorial. That’s not my thing, so it was distracting. The end product is quite nice. It’s not an easy bag for a newer sewer.
@@Kjaz727 well, I don't think this is a 'beginner level' project. I am Italian, so English isn't my first language. I just followed the tutorial by listening to it and just took a glance at the video a couple of times. It's really easy. If you have already learnt how to make a simple pouch. A newer sewer should start from a simpler project.
Oh, no I don't. As far as I know it was a preorder. Sometimes these fabric groups only order based on preorders and have a little left in retail. You could reach out to the owner to see if she has more?
Yeaaah a wider curve is easier. Treat it like driving a car. You'll need to slow down when approaching a curve so you don't veer off the road. If you really need to slow down to a crawl, just hand crank it. I do this ALL of the time, because my industrial is a little fussy and I don't trust it on those curves.
I just have a question I have the same machine but I cannot get my walking foot to walk real slow like you can is it the foot pressure or is it the kind of motor cuz I just ordered a dial motor because I have a digital so that might make a difference thank you so much
I have a servo motor attached to my Juki. I had to slow it WAY down. Every servo motor is different. Mine came with 1 sheet in Japanese and I had to get a friend to translate it.
Where do you order your name plate from? I would've made the fabric a smaller with then my vinyl then that way when you sewed the fabric down you would have the vinyl peak out on the edges. I think that would look nicer.

I have made this bag but how do you avoid a gap at the end of the zip? There is a lot of bulk in that area. Most everything else was fine just have small holes after the zip. I don't have one to compare to so not sure of that construction and you didn't show that area.
I only stitch up to the zip ends and not to the very end of the top seam when I topstitch. So leave 1/2-2/3ds an inch of space at either side of the topstitch where you just don't stitch.

I’ve found that if you don’t have as much of the d-ring tab sticking out, it is much more secure and won’t be as likely to rip out

Not the best video tutorial and not the worst I’ve seen. It would be FAR easier to follow along if it wasn’t a flat gray interior. I had to rewind a few times to get a good look at which side was the right side and still crossed my fingers hoping I did it correctly. As a visual learner, those things are helpful. If you can handle the “quirkiness”, you’ll possibly enjoy this tutorial. That’s not my thing, so it was distracting. The end product is quite nice. It’s not an easy bag for a newer sewer.
@@Kjaz727 well, I don't think this is a 'beginner level' project. I am Italian, so English isn't my first language. I just followed the tutorial by listening to it and just took a glance at the video a couple of times. It's really easy. If you have already learnt how to make a simple pouch. A newer sewer should start from a simpler project.

Oh, no I don't. As far as I know it was a preorder. Sometimes these fabric groups only order based on preorders and have a little left in retail. You could reach out to the owner to see if she has more?

halo... im newbie and havent mastered curvaceousness yet. is the "wide" curve easier than say curved corners. ty for your time :)
Yeaaah a wider curve is easier. Treat it like driving a car. You'll need to slow down when approaching a curve so you don't veer off the road. If you really need to slow down to a crawl, just hand crank it. I do this ALL of the time, because my industrial is a little fussy and I don't trust it on those curves.
How did you put the zipper pull on and end up with the both end of the zipper closed?
You only open up one end of the zipper tape. When you put the zipper pull on, it'll close the teeth up as you pull it toward the middle.

I just have a question I have the same machine but I cannot get my walking foot to walk real slow like you can is it the foot pressure or is it the kind of motor cuz I just ordered a dial motor because I have a digital so that might make a difference thank you so much
I have a servo motor attached to my Juki. I had to slow it WAY down. Every servo motor is different. Mine came with 1 sheet in Japanese and I had to get a friend to translate it.

Yeah leather tape! There should be a link in the description? If not, it's on Amazon! Both 1/2" and 1/4". I tend to use 1/4" mostly.
Where do you order your name plate from? I would've made the fabric a smaller with then my vinyl then that way when you sewed the fabric down you would have the vinyl peak out on the edges. I think that would look nicer.

I have made this bag but how do you avoid a gap at the end of the zip? There is a lot of bulk in that area. Most everything else was fine just have small holes after the zip. I don't have one to compare to so not sure of that construction and you didn't show that area.
I only stitch up to the zip ends and not to the very end of the top seam when I topstitch. So leave 1/2-2/3ds an inch of space at either side of the topstitch where you just don't stitch.
