      @@ieatslag5947 Same. 100%. Easier to move going up and not that big of a deal to get going again. Going down and having to stop/get out of the way is a bummer. haha

      Absolutely agree. But I do feel like trail systems should be uni-directional - even if on some days its clockwise, other days its counter clockwise. It'd keep yielding to a minimum, and help the DH not have to worry if theres a rider coming at them while theyre going full speed.

    • @taylor8109
      @taylor8109 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jdowls9538 at least here in the pisgah area the need directional traffic really isn’t an issue. I prefer having the freedom to plan different routes and not be restricted to directional trails.

    I think it depends on the trail system. Pisgah area trails I agree, downhill should get right of way.
    Local, less extreme trails the opposite.

    • @SteadySpin
      @SteadySpin  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it only really comes into play on steep stuff like you said.

  • @taylorbelge5957

    Downhill should have right of way not only because you earn it, but also because if your climbing you can usually hear someone descending along time before they see you climbing.

    new subscriber! awesome video. i love and agree with the subtle "yep, that's cool" @ 8:09 lol. anywhere i've ridden, i always give way to the DH cause it's harder for you for instance to yield going at such a faster pace than climbers(also more dangerous) and easier for me climbing to see you coming and pull off to the side.

    You are ABSOLUTELY correct. DH rider should have right of way. Simply because he is carrying more speed and velocity and also has a higher chance of injury. I call it, injury to adjustment ratio. Will I more likely be injured if I have to adjust at said higher rate of speed?
    If the answer is yes, then rider who answers yes, should have the right of way. Simple logic from Hampton, Va. Love to all. I would love to get this credit if adopted in MTB. 😂

    We made our yearly trip down there last weekend, and rode Ridgeline. While I can applaud the amount of work that the crews put in, I honestly think it's just too groomed now. I felt like at higher speeds I had less grip than previously, and I miss having the occasional rock or root.... It was like carpet out there!

      I agree but it’s only a few weeks it won’t be smooth any more. Ridgeline is one of the most used trails in the area.

    So I'm 100% with you that the downhill rider gets the right-of-way but so many people and trail postings say that the uphill rider gets it. All this causes is both us to stop and look at each other like idiots.

  • @tonyb2760

    No, no, no, no. uphill should always get the right of way. If you as the uphill rider decide to give it up to a down hill rider, then that's fine but you should have the choice. I gave right of way to a couple of riders I met coming up hill and later I met them on another trail coming down and they did not yield to me. What a couple of jerks.

    Always give right-of-way to riders heading down, same with any trail user from hikers, motorcross, equestrian. The rider who can stop the fastest, should be the first to give right-of-way, it's the safest. Unfortunately, for new riders this is not well known, but we should spread the word.

  • @cujomtb250
    @cujomtb250 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why make it a 2 way trail? Trails could alternate direction on different days of the week.It's safer and more fun when people ride in the same direction IMO.
