King Charles Becomes Royal British Legion Patron Following Review

- King Charles has become patron of the Royal British Legion, the UK’s leading armed forces charity. It follows a major review of royal patronages, the first of its kind since Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022. More than 1,000 patronages were earmarked for review, and the full results will be revealed in the coming week. The Royal British Legion are thrilled to welcome the King. The King takes over from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was the previous patron of the RBL. The review also concluded that King Charles will remain patron of the Samaritans, while Queen Camilla will succeed Queen Elizabeth as president of the Sandringham branch of the Women’s Institute.

Wonderful news! My father was promoted to Lt. Colonel at age 29 after joining as an enlisted man. He taught himself 5 languages to work with troops in the M.East (British 8th Army) and my mother was also attached to the 8th Army as an RN. They met when working in the Sahara Desert and my father's incredible sense of direction led him to located Rommel on several occasions, never getting lost in the barren desert! Luckily I inherited his sense of direction and am faster than any GPS!
