- Chopin and Mendelssohn's funeral March, Played on the procession of Queen Elizabeth II.
The March was played on 19. Sep 2022, by the band of the Scots Guard and the band of the Grenadier Guards, which carrying the Queen's coffin from Westminister to the Wellington Arch and again played in Windsor Castle.
Rest in peace Queen, God save democracy.
These 2 marches are the Mendelssohn funeral march from his piano pieces 'Lider ohne Worte' (Songs without words), arranged for wind band, and Chopin's Piano Sonata no. 2 opus 35, mov 3 which is also a funeral march, arranged for wind band
Thank you! This tune has been stuck in my head all day, had no idea what it was. I recognized Chopin, but not the other one.
me too...it really stucked in my head for 3 days...Rest in peace queen
yes it's the two mentioned, Chopin and Mendlessohn.
some music in other videos is by Walch, marches 1, 2 and 3
Me too… And I am so sorry for this.🙏🏻🥀
I legit rewatch the procession at least once a day. I love the beat, big Ben chiming... The feathers, diamonds, horses, I loved the British folks crying as she drove by💝 it was a beautiful Ole National event, for the world to see👌
Same
I get it.
mental illness that is
@@deadly103 it's GOT TO BE
@@deadly103 how is it mental illness? It’s music
I watched every moment of the processions through Scotland and finally through London and to Windsor. This music is so beautiful but it’s deep ominous nature still haunts me.
I don’t know why, but this march is a march of an empire, a march of strength, endurance, perseverance, and longevity. RIP to the Queen.
TH-cam:ROBERT SEPHER mit "QUEEN OF ISLAM" ELIZABETH2 👍
Thank you for adding this exact version. What a gift! I have been moved to my core watching the procession with the mighty Big Ben in the background. I can't thank you enough for this gem!
RIP HM The Queen.
It's two days that it is being played on back ground of my PC.
@@pridemiix I completely understand. The piece and entire procession was like nothing I have seen in my lifetime. Pure glory and magnificence.
It wasn’t Big Ben tolling. It was the tenor bell at Westminster Abbey.
Actually there seem to be conflicting reports about which bell it actually was tolling. 🤷♂️
Definitely the best played by the marching Massed Bands.....BEST rendition I've ever heard! So, fitting for our darling Queen! 🙏😪💕
The band of the Royal Marines did a similar job approaching St Paul's Cathedral at the procession of Lady Thatchers funeral 🙏
i will always find this beautiful though solem, a ressurection of empire to see our glorious Brittanic Majesty to her final rest. God bless her Majesty, and God save the King.
Thanks for this. Been looking for this piece of music everywhere!
I am so tired trying to find info about the funeral marches played during the processions…instead I keep getting info about music inside the Abbey and Windsor Chapel.
Yeah not really much information on that.
The main march throughout was simply Beethoven's Funeral March.
I believe you're talking about the scotish traditional music
Same. There one song they played a few times thatbis just stuck in my head. I can't find it anywhere.
The algorithm is getting better at showing the videos requested. But yea, on one of those 4 hour, real live streams of the broadcast, someone typed out all the music and the timestamps. So hopefully that comment will guide the algorithm better. I will check back in 3 or 4 days in this user account cause I may have to edit and post some myself, just in honor of the queen and her band. The choir at the church sounded HEAVENLY. Lone bag piper... All valid videos that should quickly be made
Thank you for posting this. Couldn't stay to hear more when the funeral was going on. Wanted to hear the whole piece.
Magnificent and the people get to see true culture...
Thank you for putting this up, I just wanted to hear it again I am so so proud of oue armed forces.
When legends fight back tears
3 weeks to find this music !!! Oh my god finally !!!
Rest in peace.
Queen Elizabeth II.
The best queen in the world
You are my favourite queen and always will be.
Something about having her coronation picture displayed while playing this is just very visceral, a beautiful juxtaposition.
You are a legend dude
When the announcement was made here in the UK, I just burst into tears......🥺😭😭😭😭🇬🇧 My children were .......what's happened???
Makes me cry just listening to this
Thank you for representing me rest in peace.
I don’t know why I’m listening to this….. but I am!!
So am I! Absolutely enthralling..
Got it in my head since funeral!
I love this music
As @GeorgGotts correctly advises below, this March was composed by Johann Heinrich Walch but it was - for some reason - named the "Beethoven Funeral March". It's a rather fitting piece for the British Royal Family as Walch was choral master to the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, of which Victoria's husbane, Prince Albert was a member. Bertie even "claimed" a few other marches that it turns out had been written by Walch.
It seems to be very hard to find! Not on iTunes or Amazon.
@@ecbush Have a look at the article on Walch I wrote for Wikipedia. It explains everything about this march, and gives links to Walch's music on Wikipedia. Important. Anyone can write articles on Wikipedia and they should!
What is the piece at around 2:15 please? Does it have a name. I remember it from many of the of black and white films from early on.
Not these ones mate, these are Funeral Marches by Mendelssohn and Chopin respectively. The Mendelssohn one is originally one of his Songs Without Words for piano, and the one by Chopin is from one of his piano sonatas. The funeral march by Walch falsely attributed to Beethoven is not featured in this clip.
Actually @Georg Gotts - I've finally worked out what the confusion is and what's confusing everyone. This clip starts out part-way through the Walch piece and then, at 1:30, there is a break and the band then starts on the Chopin Funeral March!!
Ah thanks for the Infos :)
Thank-you for that
Sorry to see are queen go today you will be missed she the rock of UK 🇬🇧
Beautiful piece
When I was hearing this music I loved it. Doesnt feel like a doom and gloom kind of music to me.
Title incorrect - beginning of the clip is Mendelssohn and then Chopin at 1:33 as others have said. There is no Beethoven or Walch in this excerpt.
here's that one: th-cam.com/video/CREJFQGAQOo/w-d-xo.html
@@coprario1 yea you're right, from 1:33 is Chopin. is this one the Walch's? yea it was played, I thought they're the same piece. thank for letting me now.
She really was quite a strikingly attractive young woman. I mean that in a respectful, non-leery way.
Same, she looked stunning in her youth with sharp eyes and a mature expression.
@scabthecat Cheers, I just didn't fancy the PC fascists beating down my door.
Seems like different channels had different versions of clean audio, so please look around and clip as much as you can. Make cool slideshows, I can help you and send you more photos and stuff. The music was played so powerfully and I am awe inspired . I want to hear all the music from across the 10 days. Will you be making a series or anything? I will sub and wait for you to do the edits.
the main one was the one at the beginning of this video. It's originally for piano solo from ' lieder ohne worte' composed by Mendelssohn

great download, how did you manage to record it without the sound fading out or getting mixed up with other stuff going on during the march?
It was actually the Bands of the Coldstream & Scots Guards in front of the Gun Carriage,
😢😢😢😢😢 Beethoven Funeral March also amazing
There were three marches attributed to Beethoven:
March No 1. March by Johann Walch.
March No 2. March by Beethoven, based on his Paino Sonata No 12 Op 26.
March No 3. March of unknown composer, possibly Beethoven or Walch.
@@peace-now I’ll check them out one by one
The greatest queen
too much ppl like this kinda of music thanks
I think it might have been better had Priness Anne become the next British Monarch after Queen Ekizabeth II. Yes I know order of succession and all that; just sayin'
did the Queen personally choose this and the other piece to be played during the progression? or did the royal family decide on this?
It was played during processing of Georg VI und Prince Philipp as well
This was Chopin's funeral march, but they played Beethoven's march too
This one isn't even Beethoven's. In fact, by Johann Heinrich Walch. Chopin's one is also very beautiful.
I'm confused. This seems to be described as Chopin's, Mendelssohn's and Beethoven's. Did they play all three as the coffin passed from Westminster Abbey to the Wellington Arch? It sounded like just one piece on a loop?
@@joeybarber5273 I saw in the plan they're gonna play, didn't see it all, just saw like half an hour which this one was being played repeatedly.
@@pridemiix But isn't this the same music, here described as Mendelssohn's? th-cam.com/video/rMuiWZC_xSo/w-d-xo.html
And marcraider seems to think this is Chopin's...
th-cam.com/video/XF71TKKgcwY/w-d-xo.html. Attributed to Beethoven, but written by Walch. It’s the funeral March also played on Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph .
Dos this composition go by another name? Can't find it in apple tunes
What were the other funeral marches on the procession?
The entire procession walk exchanging the funeral march from Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Chopin. There is a special arrengement piece for the brass band from Johann Heinrich Walch.
@@israellopez6989 Also Handel's funeral march from Saul.
Can you choose this march song for a funeral or is this exclusively for the royals?
Of course it can be played, but you will not get an orchestra or military marching band, that which makes this such an epic piece.

Did they play this at the Queen's funeral procession?
yes. It's the recorded sound of the procession. You can hear the bells too.
@@pridemiix thanks. Could you tell at what point of the procession this was? I'd like to watch it on video too
@@francescovaudo6401 pretty much the whole thing. It was repeated I think.
