would it be possible to do the tour without a guide? Or is a guide mandatory? do you think it's doable by yourself?

it's not that hard to get around? roads well marked?

I'm not sure if they were well marked as I wasn't driving so didn't take notice. It seemed easy to get around though not many roads so it would be hard to get lost.

Hello! I will try and answer all your questions in one response.
      We stayed in Lençóis.
Lençóis is a 7 hour bus journey from Salvador.
      We were there in October.
Both tour we did were full day tours around 8 hours. If you are just asking about the cave we were only in the cave for about 20-30 minutes.
