    That flocked tree with glass icicles @ 3:29 is stunning! It makes me think of how peaceful it is after a snowstorm.

      Absolutely! It's my favourite look, however we have lots of warm colours at home so unfortunately this tree wouldn't work 😥🎄🎄

    Thank you for the great advice, I’ve struggled to choose a colour palette that would suit my Fir Tree and my personal preference. Jewel Tones are definitely something I’m drawn to.

    These pictures are stunning! In the US we say ornaments in general, but say "ball" ornaments, instead of "baubles". I have seen white feather boa's draped as garland on glam trees for a snowy effect that were pretty. The past two years have been stressful with covid and then shutdowns, so everyone seems to be calming down and cutting back this year due to the economy with a more simplistic look. One of the trends this year are painting ball ornaments to appear as stone (concrete). I've seen velvet ribbons and also rag-torn edge ribbons this year. There are always traditional colors of red and green, but we use ribbons of red, green & gold tartan plaid. Due to marketing, there are more trends of themed trees. We bought our children an ornament each year until they were 18 that reflected them (their hobby, their interests) and wrote the year on it. By the time they moved out on their own, they had quite a collection to start their own traditions and they have carried that tradition on to their families.

      Ahhhh thank you for clearing that up! 😅 Feather boas sound like the perfect addition to a winter wonderland tree🎄 Oooh the concrete effect is news to me, I will have to check it out! I am completely in love with your family ornament story; almost brought a tear to my eye🥹 How wonderful 🙏💓

      I definitely understood the reference 😉
      One future theme I'm slowly acquiring pieces for is "Carols." Silent Night, Away in a Manger, Angels We Have Heard on High...mostly hymns but a few secular songs thrown in such as Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls 😊 It will include instruments, musical notes, bells, angels, turtledoves, etc. It's going to take years and years and years, but as we do a different theme each year I'll eventually have enough to do that tree.
      Blessings to you, internet stranger ❤

      This gave me a bit of childhood PTSD. My mother was really religious and used to decorate our Christmas tree with dead rodent and animal skulls she’d find in the woods. She said the lord has blessed her with these “gifts” to scare evil spirits away that like to walk in and out of our realm during this time of year. It was so traumatic to look back on. She literally made us live amongst decapitated animals every Christmas.

    Hi Jacqueline! Thank goodness you're back with your Christmas decorating ideas!! I especially love all the novel suggestions for tree toppers. Here are my reflections: (1) Rustic/neutral/burlap -- attractive but I need more color; (2) Pink and white -- I have considered this, as my dining room where the tree lives is sage with dusty pink accents, but I wouldn't have a white tree, just lots of snow effect on pine; (3) Narnia -- so gorgeous when it includes woodland themes, like that gorgeous snowy owl; (4) Tartan -- pretty; (5) Organic -- this is what I did before I had any ornaments! I had a party and we all strung popcorn and cranberry garlands; (6) Candyland -- love it! I do have cupcake and ice-cream cone ornaments, so I could make them the basis; (7) Copper -- brilliant! Why restrict metallics to gold and silver? (8) Jeweltone -- I could def go here; (9) Midnight sky -- so romantic; (10) Tropical -- I never thought of this, but I have been in Florida at the holidays and found the traditional trees incongruous, so maybe this is a solution! (11) Aqua -- good if you can afford gifts that come in Tiffany boxes; (12) Gold -- not for me, but wow. Especially the one with black "baubles." Now I'm going to watch it all again!

      Gina I absolutely LOVE your analysis💓 I wanted to focus on unique trees, but in all honesty I'm a traditionalist at heart! 😁 Our tree is red and gold (although I want to add alot more burgundy to the tree this year🎄). Tartan could be an option- I feel like it's so christmassy! My mum is Scottish & Laszlo and I are actually moving to Scotland in the New year! So who knows, maybe next year I have a tartan tree 🤔🤔🤔 Sending love to you 🙏♥️

    This year, I'm thinking outside the box - literally (since I don't have a Christmas tree, hate putting a tree up, have a small living room, and have nowhere to store a tree the rest of the year). In the corner of my living room is a 6-ft artificial ficus tree. I've checked the limbs, and they seem fairly sturdy. It would make a dandy, unconventionally shaped Christmas tree (a sort of Charlie Brown Christmas tree, but a little fuller). I will string some lights, drape some garland, and hang some nice unbreakable ornaments on it. Voila, Charlie Brown! 🌱

    • @dantierandbalogh
      @dantierandbalogh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Woah Tim, that's a great idea- very ingenious👏👏 Some twinkling lights will really bring the tree to life! I agree with you about the hassle! We will only be putting our tree up in December (as I can't be bothered to get out all the decorations just yet🤣). Laszlo is Hungarian, and their tradition is to put the Christmas tree up ON Christmas Eve! ...but that's cutting it a bit too fine for me😅🎄

    Beautiful ideas, one and all. It would be nice to change up my tree themes between two or three and rotate them from year to year because there are such lovely choices. Mine would be Victorian, blues and teals and the Narnia tree. What is your personal favorite tree style? I am so glad I found your channel. I am enjoying and learning so much from it. Thank you so much. Blessings - Judith 🎭🎵

      Yes! We do a different one each year and don't care if it matches the house because it's only for that month. However, it is quite lovely when we have a year where it DOES match.

    I've gotta say, I've never liked a tree topper that exceeds the height of the tree, I either like to leave it bare or tie a bow so a bit is poking out as most tree toppers to me feel too heavy.
    Edit: also, meant to say, you have bo idea how much its appreicated seeing different types of tree not only showing the standard traditional/frosty/rustic etc would be sooooo cool to see your ideas on non-green trees!!!

  • @katie7748
    @katie7748 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I do a different theme every year, including several "non-traditional" themes. Sometimes it's just a color combination and sometimes it's more specific (nutcrackers, candies, modes of transportation, zoo animals, etc). No, we don't go out and buy all new stuff every year. This is years and years of slowly accumulating things from rummage sales, clearance sections of stores, hand-me-downs, and homemade items. I have enough future ideas that 50 years from now (I'd be in my 80s by then if I make it that far) I'll still have a different tree each year. Lots of people roll their eyes yet every year they gawk at how beautiful our tree looks. They love it no matter how much they try to "bah, humbug."

    • @katie7748
      @katie7748 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I should also mention that I reuse EVERYTHING. Not a single ornament has been/will be used just once. Even the most obscure gets/will get reused.

    • @dantierandbalogh
      @dantierandbalogh  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's so cool Katie. We have gone for a Vintage Multicolor scheme this year (and moving forward). I used to do strict themes like red and gold etc but as I get older I like buying ornaments in Christmas Markets or wherever I go, and I like to NOT have to think so much about the colour scheme- if that makes sense :D So our colors are an assortment but the theme I would say is midcentury modern (as I'm obsessed with finding vintage ornaments Shiny Brite etc) Happy Holidays Dear❤🎅🎄❄🎁
