  • Carlos Ruiz Zafón's latest novel, The Angel's Game, shares the same traits that made The Shadow of the Wind an international sensation: an ominous plot, wonderfully realized characters, and a conspicuous reverence for books and reading.

    I really hope they make a film of one of his books, that would be amazing, I wouldn't miss it for anything in the world. I can imagine seeing the cemetery of forgotten books ...

    In Angel's Game, I read along intensely enjoying the story; then I read Chapter 8's discussion between Corelli and Martin which completely stimulated my mind. I cannot shake loose of it and continue to argue points in my thoughts. This is a true challenge to intelligence, morality, and faith. I will order the third book today even though I may never be relieved of the challenge of this book.

      I just finished the book and i experience the same thing. I keep arguing points and questions in my mind trying to make sense of this incredible story.

    He's so captivating... rest in peace, such a shame he was taken away too soon.
    Absolutely adored both SOTW and TAG, mesmerizing artworks. Haven't had a chance to read the two other books but I'm sure I'll once again not be able to put them down until I've finished them!
    An outstanding author and I'm grateful to have been able to appreciate what he has created.

    This man's a GENIUS, I tell ya, A DAMN GENIUS. I feel so fortunate to be able to read his books in their original language (Spanish, I'm Mexican). I must get more books from this man.

      @@ashenone3050 I found out earlier this week. This one actually hurt, rest his soul. Like 2020 didn't suck enough already :(
      He left us incredible gifts. Let's make sure his books don't end up in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, he lives on through them, allowing us glimpses at his soul.

      Carl Mart loved what you said. He’ll live through his works for a long long time.
      And yess! Reading the books in the original language is a gift on its own. Lucky you!
      I know a little Spanish and I’m willing to perfect it further just to be able to truly grasp these 4 masterpieces.
      Which one was your favorite? (If it’s possible to have one)

      @@monikaboshkova139 The Angel's Game was probably my favorite, I'm not done with Labyrinth of Spirits though, so we'll see if I like that more or not. Also got Marina on sight, that'll be the next one!

    damn its 2024 and i already finished both shadow of the wind and the angle's game , and i really enjoyed reading them . what made me hold on for little bit and not continuing reading the other two books of the series is his death . to be honest there was something i could not understand in the angle's game book , and it was about why martin in the book is not aging , i wanted to know if martin became a devil like corllie too. and when i searched for it and i got to know the heartbreaking news that carlos ruiz zafon is dead .damn what a lose for this world to lose someone like him ....

    • @yoda9256
      @yoda9256 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think him not aging was just his delusion, as part of his mental illness. I don’t think the Cemetery of Forgotten books series really has that many supernatural elements, other than the fact AC is seen as the devil but is most likely just in David Martin’s head

    • @srkucrickk
      @srkucrickk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the same story in the three of them, regardless of the language, why do you prefer the Swedish version over the Spanish and original, or the English one? If a book is good, it will be equally fine in any language.

    • @monikaboshkova139

      Marcos Villavicencio yes but it also depends on the translator. They are able to change phrases and give them a new sounding within the same meaning so... I’ve also noticed lots of differences when I read in two different languages. I hope I’ll perfect my spanish enough so that I can truly read the writer’s words.

    I'm starting to think i missed the point of The Angel's Game. i felt like it was 530 pages of chess that ended in checkers. I loved the shadow of the wind and its one of my favorites. Please someone respond with how you felt about the last hundred pages because it didn't follow for me.

    What a shame he died so early - I used to "swallow" all his books. Excellent literature and that's why when last time in Barcelona I had to make a detour and go and see the Palau which is repeatedly an important subjec of the stories - Thank you for the splendid stories! th-cam.com/video/_rDlW1Jl-Cs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=66zaLA0xH25Pfvur

    I didn't understand how Andreas Corelli do not get old.....And why after he has left Barcelona David Martin said that "my reflection is the same as the night I left Isabella in the port of Barcelona and not a minute older". So, this means that Corelli, David Martin and Diego Marlasca do not get old..WHY? I think is something related to Corelli. Will I find the answer in the Prisoner of Haven?

    • @cris.9512

      I think David and Marlasca sold their souls to Andreas Corelli. That's why they don't age.

    This book was slapped together. To many unanswered questions. Intriguing at times, but overall very disappointing. Who is Corelli and what's the deal with Christina at the end?? PFFFT
