You da man Buzz. I love the back and forth with old 64 goat and ARk, John not to mention the sound effects, music, Mr Dickle, and your excellent technical expertise. What an excellent way to pass some time. MUCH better than most of the CRAP on TV ! ! ! !
I know old 64 go very well bill is a dear friend doesn't live too far into his place many times to visit a great guy thank you buzz for posting such a wonderful video on the restoration of this radio I've also been to the Jewett City flea market nice place there's treasures amongst all the junk.
I do not recall commenting to this video. I’m sure many 👨 of them contain Old64Goat’s name in them, but we’re NEVER👎 short a GREAT 😊 radio 📻. RCA was much better product, then, than it is now. This must be an RVA Sparton. The speaker 🔊 appears to be permanent magnet 🧲. The circuitry was 🔝 notch. Vacuum tubes were available at your local grocery, or hardware store 🏬. These radios 📻 were made to be serviced. Speaking of vacuum tubes, these were one ☝️ user-serviceable component. If not, they probably were available factory 🏭 direct. Please 🙏 keep 🆙 with the GREAT 👍 videos. This radio 📻, and comment, is worth a couple of beers 🍻. Your friend, Jeff.
Dear Buzz, You have done an excellennt job on this RCA transistor radio, not only do you bring tube radios back to life, you can bring back transistor radios back to life as well. Nice job my friend, have a nice 4TH of July!!!
@@Buzz1151 NO, I sent it to you to keep. NO ROOM FOR A SMALL RADIO LIKE THAT?.....LOL When I send something to someone I do not want it back. Again great job fixing the radio.
Buzz, Thanks for showing a solid state repair. I don't know very much about transistor radio servicing. I would think those old dried up capacitors would've needed replacement, but that's about it. I'm glad those old transistors are still working. :-) I hope you're staying safe with all the nonsense going on in the streets near you. Be safe, Tom
Another cool fix,,, imagine that. Always fun to watch and sometimes we all learn a thing or four. Hope all is well and none of the crazy stuff has drifted your way. Stay safe my friend.
Lovely Video As Always Buzz And Really Nice Of You To Look At Bills Old Transistor Radio Ya Gotta Love Germanium Transistors he he So Nice To See You Outside Your Comfort Zone . You Know Vintage Transistor Sets Are 20% Electronics And 80% Cosmetics At Least With Me They Are Thanks For Uploading Stay Safe Regards mike.
Hackbar "postage stamps" on the package are very disturbing.👹 Thought Bill said he took a 100uF electrolytic cap out and didn't replace it. It works anyhow?🐐 Well for a while. More bad capacitors to confound you. A little work on the case and wa-la , another one saved from Bill's junk pile. 📻 Good work there Buzz. 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice radio restore and cap replacements! Um, I think Dickle needs to go to Announcers School and learn that one should try to avoid lambasting the star of the show!
Usually these 60's Japanese sets just need a recap to get them going. Occasionally you'll find a bad transistor but they are surprisingly reliable for the most part. Was that a brass gear I saw on the back of the tuning wheel? Now there;s something you won't be seeing again any time soon. Thanks for the Friday look see as always. Stay well. ATB Doug.
Those testers are from China, and work good..here is a link, this comes with an acrylic case....you can shop around and probably get one cheaper....Buzz www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Component-Transistor-Tester-Capacitor-Diode-Triode-MOS-PNP-NPN-LCR-New-NT/133133207771?hash=item1eff5b88db:g:KJIAAOSw6CJbBIrp
Why do American and UK/Europe radios of this age sound so much better than those that were imported, was it all down to cost? Big corps must have made a fortune back then with their mark up on own brand imports.
Enjoyed the video very much but it got me thinking: Why do you put up with that old gnome? My current theory includes a positive paternity test. Couple of questions: How tall is the average gnome and do you wear elevator shoes? Just wondering.
Thank you, Buzz. I ordered one....you are the best. Oh, give my regards to Dickel...he's a good opening act!!!!
👍

@@joernone Perhaps you are right..I think both of us should be tested...
Another cool fix,,, imagine that. Always fun to watch and sometimes we all learn a thing or four. Hope all is well and none of the crazy stuff has drifted your way. Stay safe my friend.

Thanks Buzz, I was waiting for the plastic dial cover to snap in half,
but your luck held up.

There’s something magic about hearing an AM broadcast on the old MW / LW bands

Sounding pretty good, nice work.
Glad you like it!😷
Very nice work. Your videos are always interesting and fun to watch.
ahh. ain't that sweet of you! 🌝
Sweet Victory on that '64 Victor!
how sweet it is,,ha
Nice work Buzz... you've brought it back to life. I think Dickel needs some whiskey - he's getting cranky :)
Dickel is indeed thirsty, but he's broke since he was scammed out of his stimulus money!
Hackbar "postage stamps" on the package are very disturbing.👹 Thought Bill said he took a 100uF electrolytic cap out and didn't replace it. It works anyhow?🐐
Well for a while. More bad capacitors to confound you. A little work on the case and wa-la , another one saved from Bill's junk pile. 📻 Good work there Buzz. 👍🏻👍🏻
It worked without the 100uf cap.. it was in series with another cap,
Nice radio restore and cap replacements! Um, I think Dickle needs to go to Announcers School and learn that one should try to avoid lambasting the star of the show!
Dickel is just mad that he got scammed out of his stimulus money and cant afford any whiskey! hahaha
Is Dickel on the wagon? He talked sense today, and even gave you a compliment!
Yes, Dickel can't afford any booze because he got scammed out of all his money!
"Yeah I Think They Can Be Fixed"
hello there..🙃
Me three, I agreed with what he said too.
Nice cameo from Goat.
Is there nothing that Buzz can't do?
Well, I can't do a good WC Fields impression...haha
Hi Buzz, good job! But you’re using a big soldering gun on that PC board? You like to live dangerously! 😎
oh brother

thanks for watching Doug
yes it was,,,the whole grille was metal too!
Great video, as usual!!! Where can I obtain a cap tester like yours? If it is homemade, are you willing to share the procedure to making it?

Yikes. A herd of old goats.
haha
Looks like a coupling cap feeding into the AF Amp ?
Yes, the one that tested bad went to the emitter on the AF Amp transistor.
Very interesting!! Why don't you give the gnome the radio 😀😀
Do you want it?
I don't think so.
Enjoyed the video very much but it got me thinking: Why do you put up with that old gnome? My current theory includes a positive paternity test.
Couple of questions: How tall is the average gnome and do you wear elevator shoes? Just wondering.
Dickel is my comedy relief! ha
"RCA Globetrotter" with a single AM band?
Who knew they clickbaited back in '64?
haha, you and me are the only ones who noticed that!
I noticed you did not do an alignment on this radio. Does that mean this types of radios don't have to be aligned??
I did one off camera...it was almost right on.....Buzz
How roach a studio giant
🍺
Genius so simple lol
👍
Reeks of the 60s? I doubt that 😂
👍
dickel i need you to paint my preamp
why?
