Phil, no matter which video I watch for information about my chickens, I always return to yours. The best by far!

I bought a plastic Ecoflex coop and will be using it over the winter in a well ventilated but protected run in Canada. I have 6 chickens, all but one is a banty, most silkies. I'm actually concerned about the condensation over the winter. The three roof slates slide so they can be opened up. Hoping this is enough....

I think that I would look to insulate your plastic house over the winter in Canada. Condensation will be your greatest issue and Silkies are not the most robust of birds for that climate.

How do you prevent condensation if you buy a plastic or pvc house?

I would say, sell it and buy a wooden one, :), but if you already have it I would use lots of Stalosan and Diatomaceous earth which will help to absorb the moisture and reduce the mould spores.

What do you think of Easicoops, they are made from High Pressure Laminate, I hear they are very good?

still plastic. I would imagine they are made in China. But I don't really know.

@@flytesofancy HPL is resin impregnated paper under high pressure, so its wood product but much more durable and eco friendly. Made in Italy. Bit like very thick formica. Some flooring is low pressure laminate (not very durable).

@@emilybevan3424 That looks interesting. I have not seen this product so I am afraid I cannot pass an opinion.

Plastic is better. Easy to irradicate any problems. Too many places in wood to hide. Pricy products to kill mites which u have to buy all the time, basically a loosing battle with wood.

There are things that plastic is better for, such as paddling pools etc but for chickens not!. Also we are supposed to be reducing our plastic usage.

Think plastic hen houses tend to fade and warp over time.
