    Here is a link to the Instant pot that I use amzn.to/3Io0BIo
    In this video, we'll show you how to make crispy and delicious jicama fries using an Instant Pot! Jicama is a root vegetable that's low in carbs and calories, making it a healthy alternative to traditional French fries. With the Instant Pot, you can cook the jicama quickly and easily, and the results are amazing! We'll guide you through every step of the process, from peeling and slicing the jicama to seasoning and cooking it in the Instant Pot. Whether you're looking for a healthier snack or a new side dish to serve with your meals, these jicama fries are sure to satisfy. If you are able to get your hands on jicama I highly recommend you try this, you will not regret it. And if you try one and are not a fan keep trying them and you will soon become a fan and the whole plate will be gone without you realizing it! That's how I got my sister addicted to them! If you have left overs you and pop them in the air fryer for about 8 minutes and boom they taste just like they were just cooked! Let me know if you like this recipe and if there are any other ways you would prepare this dish! So grab your Instant Pot and let's get cooking! Thanks for watching!
    Instructions:
    -peel jicama with a potato peeler.
    -clean thoroughly
    -add one cup of water per jicama in the instant pot
    -cook on normal high pressure for 1 hour
    -quick release or natural release pressure then sit in a cold bath until you are able to handle them without being burned.
    -slice into fry pieces
    -fry for about 8 minutes in a 320 degree deep fryer or until golden brown. You can also use an air fryer to cook these to make them even healthier!
    -season, let cool, and enjoy!

    The instant pot for jicama is great! I cooked my fries in air fryer with avocado oil, smoked paprika and cumin! I added salt after they were done. Amazing! Thank you for the video!

      What temperature and how long did you air fry your jicama fries.....we don't do deep frying. Also, were they tender inside? I've had difficulty getting mine tender, but will try the pressure cooker method the next time. Thanks in advance.

    Just found this. I have been making jicama fries by pot boiling them for 30 minutes and then letting them air dry.
    I NEVER thought of doing 3 jicama at once in the Instant Pot! That would make it REALLY EASY to make alot them and freeze prep for later.
    I too freeze my jicama fries for later by blanching them 1st (325 degrees for 2-3 minutes). Then you can freeze them for later.
    Will try your method tomorrow and let you know my thoughts.

    Jicama is my new favorite too. I like them raw too. I read that the smaller ones are sweeter. Going to try your instant pot way. Thanks.

    Thank you so very much for the recipe! I'm going to be making it this way from now on. I usually boil, drain, and then cook. The instant pot gave it a great consistency and took out enough of the moisture that it was able to crisp up without cooking down too much. I didn't deep fry it but I did use the Instant pot method and put one batch in the oven and another in the air fryer. The oven batch turned out a tad crispier than the air fryer. Thanks again.

    I’ve made my chili with boiled jicama but on the stove it took 3 hours to boil. I’m excited to see how this works this weekend.
    I plan on attempting to make a faux ham and beans, maybe some faux potato salad. I have done the potato salad before but again, boiling alllllll day lol.
    Thank you for sharing.

    I didn't try the instant pot until today, and while they were cooking your video popped up on the screen!! These are really good; made a batch to finish off tomorrow in the oven. Yours look awesome deep fried; I just have to keep my fat grams low. Thanks for the instructions; I never thought of cooking them before cutting them into strips! Might be easier that way. The worst part is peeling the darn things, lol.

    I have so many questions! Firstly thank you for this!
    I cut mine into fries raw, is that bad? Haha. Is it still the same pressure cook time in the instant pot? And 2…can I air fry em? Will they be terrible? Haha

    • @ImPeanutKate516
      @ImPeanutKate516  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried them air fried yet and the cooking time might be different if they are already cut never tried that before either

    Have you ever tried cooking them in the instant pot with the peels on and then peeling them afterward? I'm thinking the skin would come off more easily.

    • @DaddyKoolPop
      @DaddyKoolPop 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One thing to note: the peel/skin is very bad for us. So I am not so delicate (maybe it's a lack of patience)with peeling them. I "hack" the peel with a sharp knife. I would recommend peeling them prior to cooking because "Not only is the outer skin thick and fibrous, it also contains a toxic compound to protect the tuber from underground predators" But other than that they are great (even raw)

    • @ImPeanutKate516
      @ImPeanutKate516  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always peel before cooking

    • @maiiabakhova2474
      @maiiabakhova2474 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The skin is toxic. It is not too poisonous to kill, but can give troubles to a person. If cooked, the toxic stuff will perpetrate inside.

    • @BeastlyGamer

      Yes, they do work in the air fryer after the pressure cooker.

    • @ImPeanutKate516
      @ImPeanutKate516  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried them directly in the air fryer right after the instant pot but I do use the air fryer to "reheat" them the next day and they come out great just be carefully not to over cook them.

    I tried this and I do not like it at all. It taste nothing like French fries. It has a smell and taste that literally made me feel sick to my stomach. It's like a combination between a potato and pear. It has a sick sweetness to it. I recommend you try it, but, try it knowing that this does not taste like French fries. You may like it, but, I did not like it at all. We are going to dump the oil we used to fry these in because of the smell.
