rice, bulgur, buckwheat, pasta- 120 g cold water- 250 g power- 600 w time- 7 min leave in the switched-off microwave for at least 10 minutes you can add a spoonful of olive oil to the pasta so that it does not stick together
my steamer arrived today... thanks for the video... i cooked rice the traditional way, and then, i bought a vacuum sealer... and discovered in the freezer it lasts a long time... i've eaten it 3 months old... it is literally boil in the bag rice... and no more waste. (500g - 8 minutes) i stirred it once at 5-6mins... yeah, perfect rice... but... and its a big but... you've already boiled the water... it's only 8 min on the gas.... now, im a sad old man, but gas is 22p a unit, and electric is 47p... (1 unit of gas is approx 850watts) its no faster, its maybe a bit cleaner, until it comes time to clean the microwave...
Good advice I must have used this rice steamer hundreds of times by now at least twice a week over last 9 years Quick boil of the kettle and 10 mins in microwave. I use kettle to boil then microwave as it just takes away the need to monitor the water boiling on the hob comes out same every time for me 👍🏻
I got one of these just a different brand and with a smaller veggie one and got it for $20 on Amazon and making it now. Tfs . This is the easiest way to make rice!! ❤
Thanks for the vid. I had an old version which I lost the lid for so I just got one of these and I’m looking forward to trying it out. Polite suggestion - your rice would be way tastier if you add a bit of salt to the water before cooking. Cheers!
Monkey2Runner adding some turmeric makes it a really nice yellow colour and it’s very healthy for you, also unless you use a ton, it’s tasteless. Usually the ratio is 1 part rice 2 parts water for 15 minutes.
I add sultanas etc. to my rice and have it for breakfast. Would I still be able to put the fruit in while the rice is cooking? Loved the demo by the way.
@@Pullum1 I've gone ahead and tried it. It worked. Yay! For 3 days of breakfast for me I use approximately ( I guess everything) 90gms long grain rice, some salt, 1 and a bit powder ginger, tsp turmeric, good dash lemon juice, handful sultanas/raisins, some cut up dried apricots or pineapple (frozen) and water. It took 13 minutes in the rice cooker and then I left it to stand while I had a shower. Perfection and no running backwards and forwards to check it's not burning on the hob 😂😂😂 (normal for me).
@@helenthornton5074 sweet sounds delicious 😋😋 I've literally just used mine to use up some brown rice I had in back of cupboard (took about 18mins) very easy to use no boiling pots to watch over
I bought a microwave about a year ago!! And used it once it hard too make rice for 2 people If i remember I put 4 cups of water too 2 cups of rice some salt and some butter turned out good left in for 10- 15 min
Got mine in the microwave now. Its the same power as your but i am using a different type of rice. Still long grain so we will see in about ..... 7 mins lol.
I know the sticker says bpa free but it should ideally show on the bottom of the product permanently. Is that the case with this product? Plus does this come with instruction manual? Looks nice and simple:)
just bought and used mine with about 200g of rice and 400ml of water, it boiled over and left tacky rice juice everywhere on the tray. Micro is 1100w I think, I might have to look at a lower power.
Further research tells me the soapy bubbles bubbling out the top of the dish is excess starch in the rice. Washing the rice beforehand is supposed to stop this. I'll have to give it a go next time.
ofc rice is rice unless u talking about casserole on a firepit rice, then it takes a bit different cause u got the smoke from the fire and wood burning
Walmart here in Canada sells it for $14.95 but I'm guessing you might be in United States so the price May differ but Walmart phone them before you go there and waste your time ask if they sell microwave rice cookers God bless you
I always laugh when people doing reviews for rice cookers don't have a CLUE on how to PROPERLY cook rice. For starters you should ALWAYS wash your rice first (in COLD water 2-3 times until the water is clear). Then use COLD or ROOM TEMP WATER... NOT BOILING WATER. Unless you are using "instant" type rice. Then after cooking, you should let it stand for 5-15 min, then fluff with paddle (or fork) and serve. BTW what was all that yucky stuff on the bottom before you even put rice in?
for best results: -[1] Rinse the rice in a sieve under cold running water until the water runs clear (unless otherwise stated on the packaging).- -[2] Use cold water when cooking.- [3] Position the lid so that the holes in the top lid and pressure chamber plate are offset. -[4] Use the easy lift tabs on the lid to safely pick up the product after cooking.- -[5] Allow cooked rice to stand for a minimum of 5mins, then fluff the rice with the rice spoon provided before serving.- for your satisfaction and safety: [1] Do not cook rice other grains at any time without water. [2] Do not add any fat or oil to the water or use liquid with fat content such as milk. [3] Do not use sharp utensils. [4] To avoid boil-over do not overfill. [5] For rice with high starch content we recommend cooking smaller quantities. [6] Remove lid with care after cooking to avoid hot steam burning hands or face. open the lid away from you using the easy lift tabs on the lid. [7] Do not use abrasive cleaners or scrub pads. Cleaning and Care: To avoid staining or blistering we do not recommend adding colouring spices to the rice, or heating foods like tomato-based sauces, beetroot, curries or foods with high fat or high sugar content. Do not use for popping corn. so my best guess Amy.. he added colouring spices or [7] of for satisfaction and safety.
Thanks for the video! I bought one and immediately lost the instructions, so this was helpful!

Btw, much better than your previous video lol.
A bit of sea kelp aka kombu would be a tasty addition, adds umami naturally.
This seems like a game changer! Cant wait to try it
Use mine almost daily 😋

Does it come out perfect all the time thinking of getting it. Need something for work

In the microwave for 10-15 min?????
My microwave 800 watt , I use boiling water in with the rice when I put in and 10 mins is usually spot on for me , basmati rice
What if you only want to make a half cup of rice, would you do less time...?
Same amount time usually , takes practice so sometimes needs little longer or shorter
I use 1 cup rice and two cups water. Cook 15 minutes.
This yields 2 cups rice.
Ugh.. didn’t even wash the rice
QueenWeezy™ real talk😭
He put boiling water on it. That would kill any bacteria.
@@MrPattoD the point of washing the rice is to also wash away extra starch my guy.

Still hard after 10 minutes.
Gave it 5 mins more and again still hard so its now in for another 5.....
Ok so it took 30 minutes and the rice was spot on. Popped an egg on top, breakast sorted lol.
I usually start with boiled water from the kettle maybe if you used cold water it's taken longer.
Always wash the rice.

Yes has it stamped into the plastic BPA free on the base

Used mine pretty much every day for the last few years haven't noticed . Maybe right at the start
It does not smell like plastic. Just wash it before first use. I've had one years
.
can get it from Sainsburys

Well I washed the rice in a sieve and still it foamed all over the place. I guess I'll have to try using boiling water and lower microwave heat.
Takes awhile to get the balance right , mine 10 mins is about right with using boiling water but I have 800 watt so guess yours if can set to 70- 80%
you need to reduce the time cause you have a higher watt microwave
Is it as tasty as stove cooked rice?
ofc rice is rice unless u talking about casserole on a firepit rice, then it takes a bit different cause u got the smoke from the fire and wood burning
Please no dip hand in rice, bad for other people, use fork or chopsticks.

Washing is for removing surface starch. He didn’t wash so added water became milky. But he was happy with his cooked rice.
