    Thank you for doing this, I now lot folks on forums are confused about all the different set ups, maybe you can go deeper with the other setting, the manual is pretty good, but you can lost in very easily. It time for Rossum just to release a sampler work station with sequencer, all the parts are there for it to be reincarnation of Emu. CV and Midi Control magic with the Assimila8or.

    Hey there, thanks for watching. Glad you dig. Yes, I use the Evolution whenever I can really. I dont pair it with Assimil8or too often, but if I have room, it is my go to for anything bass related. I have it in this case because I am expirementing with Paraphonic voices and Phase Modulation Basses. I'll do some vids on those topics shortly.

    Been doing this with my Digitakt for a while now. Just got lost in cables for drums and started with Digi self sequencing then moved to OxiOne to sequence everything. I love it.
    Would love to figure out a way to play multi samples on one lane like you did with the rim shots.
    I am keeping my eye out for a rack sampler, but the Digi being portable keeps bringing me back to just keeping it. If I could figure out how to change a sample bank with notes like you did, I would be very happy as that feature is lost sequencing in Oxi vs on Digitakt…..
    Nice vid. Let’s get some e subscribers in here. Always love your jams.

    Hey, thanks alot for the demo! It was also written that the locutus transfers cv to midi i guess. Are you planning to show this as well? Could mean in a hybrid setup you can sequence/ modulate from the modular into software / do even clocking? And can you let me know the Headset you are using here?
    Thanks alot!

      Thanks for checking it out and for the comment. I haven’t messed with the CV to MIDI capability at all yet. Once I get my head around it, if I find a cool use case, I’ll do a demo on it for sure. The headset is the audio technica BPHS1.

    Hello, I am interested in the capabilities of the LOCUTUS MIDI Mediator, specifically regarding the use of MIDI CC messages. Could you please let me know how many MIDI CCs are supported per channel by the LOCUTUS when interfacing with the Assimil8or? Thank you very much

      Do you mean as a CV to MIDI or for sending controls from something into the Assimil8or? I don't really know but can tell you that right now, Im using 2 entire rows of jacks for CV to midi, so 16 total, and its working great. the other 8 jacks are still being used for CV to control the assim itself. Really loving that extra feature right now.

      @@alx-106 I mean how many simultaneous MIDI CC to CV conversions per track are possible for controlling the Assimil8or's parameters with an external MIDI controller like the Hapax?"

    Thanks for the video, Alex. Silly question, but for someone that loves the A8 for its tight timing, do you think going to MIDI timing is noticeable? Do you notice the jitter in your recordings? I get it, it's probably not audible, but I'd be curious to know if you 'see' any difference. Cheers

    • @alx-106
      @alx-106  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t notice it audibly at all. I haven’t done anything clinical, but that’s not really my thing. If I can’t notice it with my ears, then I’m good haha.

    In the "I want a pony" category, it would have been rad for the Locutus to have a clock out patch point. Still looks awesome though.

      @@alx-106 I mean, I suppose we could sacrifice Ch8 to send out a pulse in a kind of nuevo Midiman hack. Just would have been nice split that out in the MIDI expander. That said, having straight up MIDI connectivity is rad. Thanks for the great video(s) on it!

    This reminds me... I gotta sell my Play. The workflow is just terrible. They should at least give you the option of making it work like a normal sequencer where each lane remembers the last note/sample you used. That nice big grid is useless because their implementation is slower than everybody else's single-row interface. Whenever you want to edit a row you need to either manually dial in the sample/channel/instrument again or else you need to long-press a step on the row to copy it into the global buffer, and if you don't hold it long enough you'll just erase the note. It's an insane waste of what could've been a great sequencer. And don't even try using it with an external keyboard. It's so bad.
