I love your videos so much. I've loved astronomy since i was a child but you've taught me more than I ever thought I could learn with out formal study! And you're voice is perfect lol it sounds weird but you can tell you're so into the subject and you're not monotone at all which makes it so much more easier and even fun to keep up with what you're saying!

In 2007 , I was part of a team of people doing a volunteer construction project. We were on the Solomon Island of Guadal Canal, in an extremely remote end up on a mountain. An Einstein Cross was pointed out to me in the black of night. Of course , being on the equator Earth appears to be closer to the stars , which are completely different in the southern hemisphere. Thankyou for the video , good job in explaining gravitational lensing.

I actually saw the Andromeda Galaxy, through binoculars. It was so dim and muddy, but hot damn it was beautiful. I feel like I achieved such a great achievement.

Pegasus is so huge and observable even in the city I live in, I wish the other constellations had similar noticeable features

Hi I have seen andromeda cassiopeia, the great square of pegasus, aries, triangulam, the summer triangle, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn yesterday.
But can't see andromeda galaxy 😌.
    Thanks for you videos

A binoculars of 7x50 will be enough to see.

If you can, try to seek out dark skies. Andromeda can definitely be seen with the unaided eye if you have dark enough skies. Good luck!

I only have binoculars but thats ok for now as Im heavily into the lore aspect of the constellations. what is the music in the videos Id like to listen to it 🤗

I mostly use binoculars myself, so I definitely think it is the perfect place to start. I use the TH-cam audio library for my music. The track I used for this one is called Far Out Man, but I could not find the artist name (it is not longer listed in TH-cam library).

I never could quite visualize how the einstein cross is formed through the plane a galaxy (as seen from above or below), but very easy to visualize one being formed by a single rotating black hole though - direct source off to the side, one image each being dragged across the poles, other two images (one farther from the lens than the other also due to frame dragging) inline with the equator

If I’m using the SkyView app, what star would this be closest to? Can I see with my 100mm refractor?

    • @learnthesky
      @learnthesky  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The celestial coordinates for Einstein's Cross:
      22h 40m 30.3s, +3° 21′ 31″
I don't think you would be able to see it with a 100mm size lens

    • @rogerioppa

No. You need a diameter of 400mm.

Hubble is what they used for those in close pictures. I've only have seen it through Hubble or an observatory telescope. U of NM observatory doesn't have an 18 inch scope.

I hope that JWST looks at this object. I find it very odd that there are four images of this quasar and the alignment is almost too perfect since the object producing the image has to be exactly behind the nucleous. They say that quasars are so far away that the only thing we see of them is the material going into the black hole, but maybe JWST can see the rest of the galaxy to prove that this is actually the case.

Since making this video, I have learned that this is just one of many Einstein Crosses that have been observed. Check out this website to learn more:

In my simple mind, first things first, this is a satellite in use. Secondly, they have found a satellite, which has the shape of cross, in the orbit around our star. This means we are Pegasus? Unless this is a spaceship and looks like our satellite, or there are many similar objects.
I always wondered which is the name of our star compilation, I am tired always listening about our neighbour Andromeda.
