Tan Songyun is the best and the most talented. The drama can be re- done in any language/ country to me no one can match my little Princess Tan Songyun.
In a way it’s just not fair to compare the productions and especially the acting. It is a very special performance of all 5 leading characters as the actors wonderfully and generously form an acting family, with two dads and three non-biological children. If anything, it’s clear now to see what a classic masterpiece of acting Tan Song Yun achieves in the unique ways this actress carefully and faithfully performs all the special charms of Li Jianjian, the central character, especially blending consistently the young 16-year-old with the more mature 25-year-old. Little gestures and expressions Songyun brought to the character while interacting with her brothers, fathers, roommates, and friends were spontaneously created. Praise to the director for his faith in his lead actress to literally bring this central character to life. No matter how many times you may rewatch a favorite scene or episode it’s possible to appreciate a new Jianjian moment so subtly blended into her character that you notice it for the first time. It’s time that Tan Song Yun’s brilliance in this effort is more fully appreciated and lauded for the masterpiece it is. And we now know its uniqueness is impossible to duplicate. The other facet specific to “Go Ahead” is the writers’ exploration of the effects of filial piety and the one-child policy on family life in China, especially on single-child daughters. These concepts were highlighted through pivotal storylines of not only Jianjian and her two “brothers,” but also the families of her two young adult female roommates. The writers brilliantly blend parental characteristics with expectations from concepts adult children are fully expected to maintain because of firmly-held cultural beliefs and customs. The human toll on these children is portrayed with heartbreaking and sometimes distressful consequences when parents have demands that are selfish, misguided, and emotionally warped. In the end, in the most egregious example of parental abuse, only Jianjian’s purity of heart, nourishing fun spirit, and deep love for Ling Xiao can fully heal the trauma imposed on him by his untreated mentally ill, manipulative mother. As children, young Ling Xiao saved little Jianjian from the human traffickers so that mercifully as young adults she could save him with their love for a lifetime to come. Perhaps, lessons learned by watching this series can inspire real families to explore possible treatments and guidance to heal and bless their own families. And that’s a legacy of hope for all involved in the creation of both dramas. 😊🎭🤩🌟👏🏻🥰

Do not compare. Treat the Korean drama as a different distinct drama from the Chinese drama. It would be better if one has not seen the Chinese drama starring Tan Song Yun before watching the Korean drama. Tan Song Yun portrayal is exceptional and may place the Korean actress at a disadvantaged if one had seen the original Chinese version
