  • Fall River is the largest spring creek system in the country, home to one of the healthiest populations of native rainbow trout in the west. The underground aquifers that percolate to the surface in the Fall River Valley are rich with nutrients, providing a wide variety of food to the resident rainbow trout. This combination allows these fish to feed and grow year round.
    Fall River itself is roughly 15 miles long, with numerous other springs that feed into this system. The result is a variety of cold, clean water that’s perfect to explore and fish. Our favorite time of year is May through October, when the hatches are strong and the fish are on the feed. Crystal clear water can make fishing here on the more technical side, but still incredibly rewarding. A day of trout fishing on this magical spring creek is something that should be on every serious anglers bucket list.

    My grandparents lived on Fall River (grandpa decided to retire there since he was trout obsessed). I was very fortunate to spend at least a month there every summer, swimming and fishing every day. My grandparents ashes are at the springs. It is such a special place. So spoiled to grow up fishing there - catching fish from 3-5lbs from the time I was 4. My first fish on a fly rod, when I was 12, was a 5lber. Fall River is magic.

    Does the hex hatch move up toward the head of the river? or is it mainly down by caltrout? also, do you ever throw any streamers up there?

    • @acflyfishing1540
      @acflyfishing1540  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mitchell, the Hex hatch is mostly down on the lower river. They eat a slow stripped or swung streamer on the Fall River sometimes as well as nymphs.
