@@ubu8 A kpop generation has normally a time span of 7 years, however, it only changes when fans notice a big change between fashion, sound, and, idols ages. (Active idols that are 30 and idols that are debuting at 16 can't possibly be from the same gen, it feels weird).
This is why many speculate a new gen will start in 2024 or 2025, also, MNET keeps calling their BOYSPLANET group 5th gen which is confusing everyone. So it might start a little earlier, in late 2023.
Long story short: It happens when there's a shift in the kpop industry.
