Trevor Noah probably has a similar experience with his mother going through being short in the head and his mother is Pat short for Patricia. He chose to not exert that story into Ms Pat's story and let her tell her story without interfering with it. That takes discipline and awareness of letting someone shine without interfering with that person's glory moment. Powerful to watch.
I hadn't thought about that at all while watching this (although I've read Trevor Noah's [excellent] autobiography AND heard him speak about his mother's experience). I so agree with what you said.
“When I could forgive the people who harmed me, I could start to live…Once I forgave them, I found happiness.” That last question should’ve been a whole segment onto itself! I’d love to hear her give a whole motivational speech about how to be resilient and how to forgive. 💜

The vibe of the Ms. Pat Show reminds me of the first season of Roseanne. It’s a lighthearted comedy but it has heavy topics. It quirky and relatable for contemporary families. The lead character is a strong opinionated woman who makes raunchy jokes. I’ll keep watching it
Ms. Pat is so right, forgiveness is so powerful for your OWN ability to get closure and move forward. It’s a hard road, but it’s worth the effort. Ms. Pat, I wish you all the success and happiness you can possibly have for this part of your life ❤️
