Well, my long ago friend ‘Bug’ here, Timmy’s nickname in college, was also my team mate for 4 weeks as a walk on at UTEP. 4 weeks is how long Haskins took to red shirt me. There was another guard there who also knew a bit about a cross over named Jeep Jackson. The starting point guard before Tim. I’m not sure how much Tim picked up on Jeep’s ability, but I know I did. Because of Jeep, I took players out of both their shoes on more than one occasion. Not kidding, stepped right out of their shoes. Haskins however, was well known for recruiting exceptional point guards.
@Leigh Ellis Thank you for sharing this video. I showed it to my son for illustration purposes. Leigh, you played that cross-over beautifully. Keep up the great work and thank you!
I remember practicing this move every day for a full summer when I was a kid and could only do it going the opposite direction. Time to go back out with my nephews and try it again!
The key to a crossover faking out your opponent is that lifting of your weight up before the first step. As you come down for that first hard dribble, the opponent does not know which way you are headed and just reacts to your body motion, not the ball.
Also finding the perfect balance of almost-but-not-quite-palming the ball. Doing so usually entices the defender to make a move. Once they have gone one way, it becomes easier to throw them off balance by going back the other way.
@@leighellis76 Yes! That skill gives you the lateral movement that bamboozles defenders! Of course now, palming the ball and carrying (I'm talking about having a hand under the ball when dribbling) is never called, so you don't have to be all that good to do what looks like a spectacular crossover.
I don't think of TH as an all time great, but he was very good and he revolutionized dribbling. We now see players using his footwork nearly every play... don't forget that someone had to invent them and figure out these movement patterns and how to implement them in game situations to make that possible.
Tim makes it look so easy but believe me that's one of the toughest crossovers to master!
push crossesand AI style cross seem easier
This move is thought
Leigh is such a killer, he busted that move right away and drained the shot lmao. Baller
I like how he still remembers his teammates and where they use to be positioned
Tim is great player and person! In 90’s he was legend
Yep, a 90s legend
Leigh is actually a pretty good player and in shape for his age.
Tim Hardaway has the same leg issues Kenny Smith has. I’m glad these guys made millions, they literally sacrificed themselves.
I’ve heard a lot of former players, like Charles Barkley who has similar issues, say that the sacrifice was worth the price.

Nice story, Ronald. Thanks for sharing.
What a classy former NBA player! Always will be remembered as a Chicago native who established the Texas two step at UTEP!
Oh yeah, he was awesome to watch.

Knees like Kenny smith 😭😭😭🤷🏽🤷🏽😊
Why does that happen to bball players knees? Derek harper has knees like that too
@@jaylchannel3392 hella explosive sport with lots of jumping. Not as advanced medical knowledge regarding tendon & ligament health.

Same. I could do it at home, but way harder to pull off in a game.
2:02 WTF? I thought there was a chicken on the top right of court for a second 😂😂
Greatest crossover ever
Legend 👏
Tim got those Kenny Smith knot knees
😆 so true
always loved to play him in nba live games.
Yep, he was a fun dude to play as no matter what the video game franchise was.
Tim Hardaway, MJ, Hakeem the Dream, Larry Bird, James Worthy! My starting five!
what about detlef schrempf?
Best cross over dribble ever 🏀
Agree, Previn.
🧢 Iverson and Jamal Crawford have better crossovers
@@lamart3857shhhhiiiidddd
He remembers Vosgon Lenard and Dan Majerle. ❤
He fed those guys for a lot of years.
Good friend of mine too...what a rush
The killa cross over! 🏀🇧🇷
@Leigh_Ellis I'm impressed you hit that jumper effortlessly!
Timmy was nice wit it!!!
Even in retirement, he's still got the handles.
We need Starters!
Leigh, Leigh!!!!!
That guy is awesome.
The Utep-Two Step is one of the greats from the 90s!
hell yeah
Get this man in the fkn Basketball Hall of Fame already.
Leigh man I miss the starters crew
Hardaway and Marbury very similar games .. both killers in crunchtime too
Man why do you have to be a tv host to get this kind of interactions with these kinds of legends,
You don't. Things can happen if you try to make them happen.

Having a crossover that devastating is great while you’re young, but it will cost you an ACL tear down the road. Lotta pressure on the knees.
Yes, but a lot of ex-players say that it's worth the price you pay to get to the NBA

Yep, and he learned from the guys before him. It's great watching the game and players evolve.
The ole UTEP Two Step
That's him!
Okay, but did you use it in the game, and how it went?
Tim is such a great guy!
I tried it a few times; mixed results.
Crazy this doesn’t have more views 👀 people must not love basketball anymore
Crazy, right?!?
Henry Hall, Pardale HS, MD
Tim Hardaway and Allen Iverson 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Two of the greats to watch.
Tim got Kenny Smith legs
Is it recorded in Melbourne?
Yes
The Utep Two Step
아직도 젊어보여
Tim move made many men
Lose there equilibrium.
I called the space crossover.
The opponent landed on 😮other
Planets
Noooooo Tim hardaway has the Kenny Smith knees
Lol, he can still move 'em when he needs to!
B-Ball was better back in the day! Bring back hand checking and physical defense!
He's 6' not short though.
How did I not now the bug was in Australia. Was he in Sydney. I flew to San Francisco to see him play in 96 my idol back then.
This was from 2019.
He’s Kenny Smith from the waist down.
Yep, the old knees are a little wonky
Tims mcl's are working overtime. Js
I think they clocked off a few years ago.
What's wrong with Tim's leg?
I guess it went a bit wonky after a million crossovers.
How does he move so fluid with knees like those?
Put a ball in a baller's hand and it's amazing how pain and discomfort just fade away!
@@leighellis76
You may have a point there.
They feel bad that shit later tho ughhh
Natural born killas
Thanks, Andy.
he always goes right.
Yep, and the amazing part is that guys knew what was coming but still couldn't stop it.
You actually think an NBA PG cant go left? lmao
My fav is his crossover on Ron Harper...

Ai crossover
Didnt know he could still do it. He stop doing it long before he retired
