- Just got my hands on Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, which is a very very beautiful Game that runs on Unreal Engine 5. I enjoyed the Story a lot but some parts of it just felt like you were walking most of the time so I decided to make this funny meme, don't take it too seriously the Game is absolutely stunning XD
Imagine being in development for 5 years just to do walking sim for 5 hours

Man, this game makes me want to apologize to Death Stranding for saying that was a walking simulator.
That's not an insult though. Death stranding made hiking a mechanic. If you just hold forward on that game, you lose. The game has multiple loops. Big loop with planning your route and scouting the terrain, small loops in making small adjustments on what path you take and how you balance your weight. It's the only game that makes walking a mechanic instead of a brainddead thing, and it's a shame not more games copy it, since it makes travesal interesting.
Driving physics suck though and the game has other flaws, in typical kojima ways, but you can't deny that the walking isn't atleast more interesting than other games. Try and scale the snowy mountain without the snow robot legs for a real challenge.
The subjective thing is the game isn't for everyone. It's for people who enjoy hiking, and like slow paced atmospheric games. If you only like fast paced action, it's not the game for you and that's alright.

As a huge fan of FromSoftware who enjoys expansive, interconnected level design, clever environmental puzzles, fun combat scenarios and enemy placement, there is nothing more boring than endlessly walking in a straight line in a video game.
The Order 1886 is supposed to be a warning, not a guide. While i enjoy Hellblade 1 and 2, i hate that especially in 2 they forget that they're making a game not a film
The Order: 1886 is way better than hellblade 1, and people should be having that same negative criticism that they had on The Order with this hellblade 2. They complained about it being 8 hours, mostly cinematic, for full price.... Look at this "game" being basically full price advertised as a "game" and yet it is reported that what you mostly do is walk a straight line and it's only 5 hours to complete, so it should be receiving the same criticism. Hellblade 1 was their warning and guide, because this is basically the same game, they made it seem like they were going to expand on it but it turns out that they didn't.
The Order 1886 has a more interesting combat than Hellblade

Back in my days we had something called demos, kinda sort of a tutorial in which you were able to tryout a good portion of what the game was intended to be in the full version.

Instead of spend 50 buck to actually play the game, you can just watch the walkthrough with 4k60fps HDR on TV. It's still just more like a movie than a game.

I don't mind playing walking simulators as long as something different/interesting happens every so often. The Stanley Parable, What Remains of Edith Finch are the best two exemples of that.
But in this 6 hour long game you walk for 3 hours without anything interesting happens. Like.. walking isn't even worst part of the game. If any other aspects of the game was even a bit good, walking would be bearable (like it is in the first game) but it is not. Puzzles are more tedious, action sections became a QTE and story isn't that interesting anymore (I don't even know how they managed to do that).

GTA 3 indirectly did this. By making a fanstastic open world game, Rockstar opened the floodgates of developers making sh*tty open world walking sims.

I didn't play any of the two games but if I understood it correctly, that was the point. If what you said is true, they were successful in their attempt to make not a walking simulator, but a psychosis simulator.

the first one yeas definitely, the 2nd one nah hell no. with their new story line of sauna being the SPECIAL CHOSEN ONE, WITH SEEA ABILITIES. it just felt like a netflix movie about a new female Marvel protagonist.

Maybe this part shown here is a lot of walking but the game is still sitting at almost 90% positive reviews on steam, so I think it's a great worthy sequel. Also, if you played the first one you know there was a lot of walking in the first one too.

You know the best part? Gameplay mechanic in first game was barebones. But somehow, SOMEHOW in second game they made it even worse. Plus 30fps as a standard. I can believe that in 2024 someone still use argument that "30fps is more cinematic"

All reviews praising the graphics on this make me roll my eyes. You know what else has good ultra realistic graphics? Movies. This is supposed to be a game. It was understandable to be more limited in gameplay variety the first time around, I didn't complain back then, but seeing where they decided to put all the budget for the second one makes me certain I don't want to give Ninja Theory any more money if that is how they plan to use it.
+Yep and RE4R had comparable graphics... but like 20+ hours great gameplay. And if you want a game that isn't a remake and also looked great RE:8 Village.

It's not for you, but graphics are a part of games, and they do matter. But this game has both good graphics and art. There are plenty of ugly movies with terrible art direction. For many players, this artistry on display is enough of a selling point. If you're a very gameplay mechanics type of gamer, this game isn't for you, and that's fine. There are endless games in every genre that appeal to different demographics and that's good. Videogames shouldn't appeal to everyone and try to hit a wide demographic, that would counteract their artistic freedom.

These modern game devs man, they remind me of artists that throw splash paint on canvas and the whole establishment hails them geniuses.
Death standing at least you can drive in the game or do toe creative things while walking but this is just blatant walking and that’s it.

Player Agency , Exploration , Action (in any form), honing my skills , learning new approaches , being challenged . I wanna use that controller to play a game and not replace it with a Popcorn-bucket .
Modern gaming really sucks .
I can understand the annoyance of modern games hence why I’m super picky but some of my favorite games are heavy story focus like red dead redemption or the yakuza franchise but even then with those games having a lot of cutscenes and talking there are a lot of stuff you can do on those games to get hundreds of hours worth of content.
@@locodesert2 Nothing against a great story in a game that has some more lengthy cutscenes that is balanced with alot of gameplay . On RDR2's point its a sandbox western that has alot to do and there is definitly huge quality to find there.
But sadly RDR2 is an great exception . Besides the sandbox-open-world-games oversaturation its lately a lack of games that arent so lengthy and are great for their replayability and especially the focus that the story should underline the gameplay and not hog the games design more into a movie because too much focus is on the story instead of gameplay .
We can prefer what we want but videogames dont use their own strengths anymore as a medium to provide entertaiment not because the story said so but because the gameplay offers that to the players .
Stopping handholding throughout the game and instead giving gamers games that the mainpoint is the focus in the gameplay and in its freedom and possibilities in its own design and limits of the genre/gameplay.
@@locodesert2 I still waiting for great new horror games that have a good story that underlines the whole situation throughout its gameplay instead having a small trip through a themepark ride with an horror-theme tacked on it .
Even the legacy of kain games were awesome and had more than enough of gameplay too. The story was the focus but they implemented the gameplay of the setting into it instead making it a key item for one unnecessary cutscene. And these games are known for the exploration in this setting.
On the otherhand i would love to see games that are more like Heavy metal geomatrix , Spawn : at the demons hand , Rastan 3 :Warriorsblade , Extreme-G , Zombie Revenge and much more arcadey games that had a punchy gameplay and really energetic but bombastic moments that elevates the gameplay to new heights.
What i overall say is that nowadays its lacking in variety of game-designs .
We actually go only for trends instead looking at game-designs of past game and evolve it .
How often i hear about this idiocy of "outdated gamedesign" when this game-design had its own cool approach that differentiated from other games and are still fun and outstanding on its own right .
Stories in games should stop being brakes that kills the fun/enjoyment and finally but the turbo that accelerates the fun/enjoyment of the game again .

Tried to watch a walkthrough, the walk part was really emphasized. Boring game to me, I want a game to play, not a movie to see. There are also animated movies, and watching them are way more fun than listen to ASMR bull* in the background.
God the ASMR nonsense... that KILLED the first game for me. Don't get me wrong, I get what they were trying to do with the voices thing, though... "we want you to feel the pain of a schizo" is not my idea of a game per say and more of a experience or honestly should have been an animated or short movie as the combat was honestly bad. My issue was or I guess reasoning behind not liking the whole ASMR aspect was I'm very easily distracted so it was just not fun "oh but that's the whole idea" the whole idea was to be annoying... yeah okay sounds like a true 10/10 game that everyone gobbles up, nope sorry not to me, I like more game to my games.
If I want a walking sim I'll just play Abzu, Journey or something like that, this looks even worse than the first game, maybe not visually sure but it's hard to make an Unreal engine game look bad.

Whenever MS tried to do Sony exclusive type of games they just failed! This game, and it is not the first attempt by MS, is a short game where you run through narrow paths. It has no depth at all, nothing. Then dont even try to make something playable, its quite ridiculous imo.

To be honest... doesn't seem that much different from the first game. Thing is, the original Hellblade was big because it was an indie game competing with AAA titles, and looking great while doing it. But it was always more about the audio gimmicks and the story of Senua than actual gameplay (despite also providing a good experience in that regard). I believe Microsoft promoting the game as a flagship release did more harm than good. The expectations that were generated would never be met.
