That works just like my jaw rock crusher I built on back. Instead of a driveshaft I used an old trailer tire and looped a belt around it from a horizontal shaft engine. I did the eccentric the same way using pillow blocks and found the same issue, I busted the cast iron housings and eventually scrapped the whole thing after trying to "fortify" them. Looking back, that's the perfect application for a poured in place babbitt bearing with a grease fitting for lubricant. Low speed, high pressure, and plenty of width to take the loads. I crushed up a bunch of construction rubble to "pave" out a piece of driveway next to my shop to park equipment on. Worked a treat, just hard on pillow blocks.

We are trying to figure out the levers on the back of the machine. We have out springs in but something is stopping it from working properly. The rest has all been built as we can see on the video but the Spring mechanics is not shown. Can you perhaps help? Is there a spring or a rod at the back of the plate?

I about rolled laughing when you tossed the washer counter weight in there! I always knew there was another use for them but just couldn't sort it out........LOL! It's kind of hypnotic watching that bugger maliciously munching away on old concrete! It's not like there is a bunch of flying debris and dust like hammer mills. If those grader blades get too worn just get the local welding supply to hook you up with a box of hard facing rods. One bead down each blade should do you for a good while! That is fantastic, it looks like you run bricks and concrete in it, do you think it would stand up to granite or chert/flint? I am looking into doing something to run creek gravel through to size it less than 2" the screen it to get anything less than 1" out. I'd run mine on the tractor PTO though 🤣
And the bend angle of the drive shaft is too high. The vehicle should be placed a little higher 😉🔭. And there should be room for a wheelbarrow under the machine, where the product could go into, instead of on the ground, thus requiring one (unnecessary) operation more.
i would like to know how to build 1 like this crusher i have a 3x4 jaw crusher and it doesn't crush like this takes a long time just to crush 1 brick piece that i broke into small pieces
If i were to do it again id make it bit bigger like 16"x 10" and make it all adjustable, it took a bit of experimenting to get it to work this well..... good luck!

Make one! Its one of the best things I've ever built and still works great! Blades are off a loader but they weren't as hard wearing as I thought they'd be but if I did it again I'd just weld line's of hard facing up and down the jaws!
@@marktgsxr i wondering about perhaps some square bar welded to the main plate then a series of hardened bolts or something that could be used as replaceable teeth perhaps. will have to do a bit more research and see one in person before i start a build. many thanks

I did try it on a few tons of flint and about half a ton of granite counter tops.... i crushed fine but wore the jaw faces badly.... you can see why proper crushers have manganese steel jaws that work harden!
The Nutters Workshop it looks simple enought. I have been doing some concrete work and have lots more to do. I have all these chunks and have wished for something like this.

great machine, but what would happen to something soft,..? say a pair of rubber boots..??? would they just pass through..? or be distroyed..? would you have to put rocks on top of them to make them pas through...??? like to see what would happen.
the jaw is roughly 24" in length and 10" wide, the most omportant thing is the toggle plate angle as it determins the amount of movement at the bottom of the jaw!
You should toss the camera in to see how those jaws are warping space and time to make solid steel breathe more than a suspect under arrest by a cop in America.
Very nice work. I suggest coming up with a full disconnect option to perform an emergency stop within arm's reach of the machine intake for safety purposes.

Thanks! Yeh it does work really well, bottom of the moving jaw is just hinged at 45 degrees, just wish I'd made it adjustable!

Works great on the softer rocks... But how would this stand up to Granit? That would be impressive if it can.

Looks great, but i doubt it can handle real rocks, i.e. of granite
We did run some granite and it crushed without a problem but it was so abrasive it wore half way through the mild steel "fixed jaw"....

No the body was old steel angle and the jaws were loader blades... I wish I could of got hold of some proper manganese jaws from a commercial crusher!
