When I was a child in the 1970s, I remember being told that the milkman`s father had his tongue cut out by the black and tans. I would be interested to know if anyone else heard of such things.

Unfortunately most people don't even understand what the song is about, for example the song has nothing to do with the real Black and Tans of the WOI as its set in inner city Dublin in 1928 when the Black and Tans did not even exist and the loving English feet in the song is actually nothing to do with "The English" its about a much hated and despicable Irish women who was the song writers grandmother. So the song is not all that it seems.
