A pithy comment I once read was "Stalingrad determined the Nazis would not win. Kursk determined they would lose."

"Nazis would not win" actually started after the battle for moscow in 1941

Stalingrad was a strategically idiotic decision. All because of the whole 'Stalin' part of the name.

Kursk (Coo-r-ss-k) is a city, with a nearby village of Prokhorovka (Pro-ho-row-ka), that was a stage for the biggest tank battle in history. Front itself was known as Kursk's Arch, given strategic map look.
And it was a place of the last german offensive in the Eastern Front, operation "Citadel".

2nd biggest. The Soviets lost the biggest in 1941.

This and The Final Countdown are both considered Power Metal. Hence the similarity in style.

I really like that you made a connection between this and The Final countdown, cause the subject matter (Battle of Kursk) can be described at the beginning of the end for the Third Reich, the start of a final count down for the nazis

If you want an awesome live song with Sabaton, you should react to en livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) live Scandinavium Gothenburg 2020.
The album Carolus rex that they had released during that time is about a part of Swedish history referred to as the era of great power (stormaktstiden in Swedish) from when Sweden was one of the ruling nations with ambitions of expanding.
The album was released with both a Swedish and English version, the difference being that the Swedish one tells the story from our / a Swedish soldier's view while the English are more from an outsider's view.
It is the Swedish version they played that night so be sure the subtitles are on, I was at that show and all I can say is that you won't regret it.

4:13 well, that's not entirely true - a common misconception composed of disconnected pieces of information. There were such things as order 227 and barrier troops, but the essence of the order is that unauthorized retreat was prohibited (which tended to backfire if command hesitated for too long or communications were disrupted), and the barrier troops were effectively a rear guard that not only supposed to prevent an occasional counterattacks, but also attemts of saboteur infiltrations in a heat of the fight, retrieving or redirecting the disoriented soldiers and units, but with an emphasis on preventing of panic withdrawal or deliberate fleeing. However, even in a latter cases there was no such thing as down mowing the retreating troops (as seen in "Enemy at the Gates", alongside with lots of other ridiculous nonsence), since most times those who've been arrested while leaving the battlefield where simply put back to their regiments, sometimes assigned to penal units, rarely court-martialed, and in a very unlikely and exceptional cases executed by a firing squad (e.g. if tried to break through the lines by force or directly caused deaths of his fellow soldiers/loss of critical equipment while making their escape). In 1944, when Red Army was already on offense outside USSR borders, those measures were discontinued (while Wehrmacht had to employ a similar ones in their turn, while fighting on their own soil).

I would love to see reactions to the animated story videos (crucial!) of No Bullets Fly and Night Witches and I'd love to reafirm En Livstid I Krieg live in Gothemburg suggested below. Also, Swedish Pagans live in Wacken 2019 with Tina Gao would be awesome.

It still mind boggling for me that history teacher never told one of the biggest heroes in ww2 not only did the soviet had the highest casualties they manage to corner the nazi up to berlin think about it if the soviet wasn't there the allied may not been able to swoop in for the win
But what really led to the nazi defeat was when soviet won the battle at berlin its still a mystery to me why history teachers all over the world never mentioned this the real heroes of ww2 isnt the allied but the soviet they were the ones who did the killing blow
I believe credits should be given to those who earned it
And honestly since i was young i was told the us and the allied defeated the nazi but in reality its not yes the allied did a part operation to operation but the soviet has the biggest role in the nazi defeat

The Soviets were able to last against the 1941 invasion due to lend leased equipment and materials from the US and UK.

well it makes sense why in western countries ww2 is taught like that. It largely excludes Soviet Union's huge contributions, mainly because of the cold war that followed right after and lasted for much longer. In the cold war the Soviets were the enemy, so... kind makes sense. What doesn't make sense however, is claiming that Red Army won because of the cold winter, or the lend lease of western Allies (both are totally false and pure propaganda).
The Allies (meaing the US) did beat the Japanese practically by themselves though, credit where credit is due.

How about another Sabaton song? I recommend from the old Art of War, Firestorm or Midway. Alternatively, from the latest album Dreadnought.

Greatest tank battle in the history of mankind - and i think will remain as such forever, because of evolution of war technologies, huge blobs of tanks no longer viable idea, their means of use changed towards city battles and support role for infantry
