the expensive ice cream place in Dumbo was the gas station featured in the Banarama video for Cruel Summer. Great tour of my city - glad you had a great time!
The sea glass carrousel is meant to look like Sea glass. A very natural phenomenon when glass bottles get pounded by ocean waves. The bottles grind down to stone like pieces that are quite beautiful. You see a lot of sea glass on a beach near LA. It’s a very colorful beach but quite nice to be on.
Near LA? I looked and it’s about 10 hour drive from LA 😭 I am looking for cool things to do like that on my trip to California but unfortunately I think that’s a bit far
Glad that you two had done the Back to the Future musical, because it is soo good!! I have been to it in Londen, and it was the best performance I've ever been too!
As I’ve gotten older I have come to appreciate what New York has to offer. I never wanted to visit for years but now it’s near the top of the bucket list, hopefully one day. In the meantime this vlog was lovely, so relaxing to watch. Love it ❤️
The wife and I are going to see back to the future in London mid month, looking forward to it. We do love our theatre show, Great content, you guys do have some fantastic trips all the best
One of my favourite places in the world. If anyone is hesitant on going because it’s “dangerous” then don’t be! Everyone is very friendly and you feel incredibly safe throughout.
Its not the "danger" that puts me off. It`s the hotel prices. I priced up a trip there before covid shut it all down and was horrified to see the rates 2 years later. Basically they had increased around 50%. And Shawn was wondering why it was quiet in places.
Such wimps that say it’s dangerous. Drama queens. Has anyone been to London recently? Birmingham? Manchester? Liverpool? Glasgow? You think these are all lovely lands with lots of sunshine and candy floss for clouds? Go to these perceived safe areas and they are the most boring, soulless, and shallow places on Earth. If your version of safe is a little town filled with only middle-aged, privileged white people then good luck with this. You’ll hear the same boring chit chat, there will be a Waitrose, a Gail’s, 69 flower shops, a post office and a farmers market. Great! Predictable and cliche. More adrenaline in a retirement home. And I’m white by the way. You say it’s dangerous, I say grow a pair and stop being a coward.
They just started a North American tour of Back to the Future and I saw it in Cleveland Ohio tonight (first time). I'm so happy I saw it. One of the best shows I've ever seen!
I love the effort you both put into these travel vlogs. You are very informative with the things that you show. The bit about the app and how to get discounts on tickets for shows is very helpful... If you did get a sponsorship I wouldn't mind to be honest. Hope Charlotte enjoyed the show, I would like to see BTTFTM at some point. The movies were a massive part of my childhood and early teens.
Wow, so beautiful and lovely vlog , wonderful tour friends Beautiful place and great sharing, I enjoyed it watching this excellent and nice video Have a lovely day 💖💖💖😍👍
We got lucky when we visited just before Christmas, with bright blue skies & sunshine ☀️ we got some amazing photos! Having walked over Manhattan Bridge to Dumbo & back over Brooklyn Bridge, it’s something I would highly recommend doing for the views alone as well as the High Line 👍🏻 We saw the Christmas tree 🎄 at Rockefeller but it was crazy busy which spoiled it a little bit for us…. 😍 great vlog!
Seems like you had a very similar day to what me & the wife had when we went in March 2020 (we watched Frozen, though). Can't beat that view standing on Brooklyn Bridge looking back at Manhattan! 👌....I could walk the streets of NY all day. Love it!
The meat packing district was full of butchers and meat processing companies that supplied restaurants and other companies. There used to be a train track in the ground to transport cattle. It was also close to Chelsea market making distribution a bit easier. The entire district was revamped as a millennial haven in the 2000s. Now it’s quite hip and trendy.
A beautiful glass sea creature carousel! LOL I thought you meant Dumbo the Elephant hah. Brooklyn bridge what amazing views :) Glad you got to see Back to the Future again with the UK cast member.
Great vlog! Did you guys know that on a clear day atop the WTC it’s possible to see Kingda Ka in the distance - crazy! From the top of the ride you can see both NYC and Philadelphia if your lucky 😮
This is an awesome log !!.. I went to the same spot at night in Dumbo , fantastic view of Manhattan’s skyline and had no idea of the High Line , can’t wait to visit again Thanks guys
Another fantastic vlog both. You've really got us interested in a visit to NYC. Love how you guys do things on a sensible budget and show how it can be done and still with loads of fun!
I do love NYC and was there just after the awful atrocity 911. Three weeks after in fact. I too walked The Brooklyn Bridge although once the other side I ended up at Nevens Street subway to get back to Manhattan rather than walk it. Also went to the top of the iconic Empire State and past The Rockefeller Centre. Amazing around Times Square 24 hour life. Nice vlog guys👏🏻
An old friend played the original Biff in London! Apparently there's a rule that only one English cast member can transfer and George McFly guy is just insane. Roger Bart as well is just the most awesome actor as Doc. Gotta be one of my favourite characters in all of musical theatre - For The Dreamers and It Works are such cool songs
The seaglass looked awesome pity you couldnt ride it at night bet it looks amazing, also the highline is very well done nothing new about walking old railways, plenty in the uk but because its elevated adds something too it 😊😊😊
I’ve never been to New York before it looks really good but hope you 2 had such a great time it looks bigger lot bigger then London but keep it up by making videos 😊
Meatpacking District has WONDERFUL restaurants, high end shops, great coffee shops, etc. (but one must open their wallet). An INCREDIBLE neighborhood! Little island is a relatively new, man made island/ park, paid for by Billionaires Barry Diller and his wife, fashion designer Dionne Von Furstenburg. A GREAT visit you really should see next visit!!
Just watched your vlog we going in September definitely going to walk over brooklyn Bridge and do the high line, thanks for the ideas met you both few years ago in services on way to London such a lovely couple x
I was an English man living in NYC in the late 80's. It could be a little dangerous in some areas back then. Not like it is now. Put it this way, that Squirrel would have most likely pulled a switch blade on you and mugged you! LOL Dumbo was nothing like that back then. There was absolutely nothing there really, other than the warehouses. Not many people either, other than warehouse worker's. Whereas now, its very cosmopolitan and bustling. Guys, please Google ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA MOVIE POSTER. You'll see that same view of the Manhattan bridge sat between the buildings, in what has become an iconic poster. It's a classic movie from 1984, directed by the brilliant Sergio Leone (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) and starring Robert De Niro.
Squirrels are likely looking for food. They are so spoiled by people feeding them. They forgot their instincts and look to humans for food. Florida they tend to run from people. They actually eat pizza and hot dogs too. You see them drag entire pizza slices up trees sometimes.
Have you done the Exmoor Coaster bus ride? Done it yesterday and it was stunning! Be a good one for this channel and only £2 one way! Was £12 before before the government thing. Loving the Asia trips but just an idea for this channel if you get a breather lol. Going up Porlock Hill on a bus is summit else.
Hi Shawn & Charlotte.. I'm a big fan and enjoy watching your videos. I noticed you walked past Nelson Sullivan's home in this video of New York at the time of 32.54. Nelson was one of the first vloggers in the 80's making videos of New York City. I watch his videos a lot, which have been put onto TH-cam. He lived at 5 Ninth Avenue, Gansevoort St in the meatpacking District. I don't know if you already know about him? He has hundreds of videos which also show his home which you walked past. Sadly Nelson passed away in 1991. I just thought I'd tell you about him just incase you've not heard of him. I think this may be of interest to you? Best Wishes to you both.. from Juliet in Southport, UK
Just returned after a week in NYC…probably our 5th / 6th time. Great trip but the prices are insane! Tip on everything. Anyone visiting avoid time square and head to Chelsea / Central Park or Washington square park. 👍🏻
That thing in the Hudson is called little island and is another public park. The city is planning another park out there using the old white star docks where the titanic was supposed to land on.
If you want cheap tickets for broadway simply hit the booth under the red stairs. They sell tickets really cheap and it’s all legitimate. Basically box offices have to fill a theater and there are always a few rows they can’t fill so they use that company to fill the last seats. You can get into shows like a few minutes before they close the doors for the first showing. Usually around 2 or 3 in the afternoon the booth opens as the theater orders start coming in. I got Hamilton seats for cheap, second or third row right in front of the stage.
If u lovee special effects on stage and big sets etc youd lovee the stranger things play in london. Absolutely mind blowing. Its about the kids parents and young vecna
Welcome to New York, so nice you enjoyed your stay . . . if and when you return, there are some more budget friendly and free spaces that will let you enjoy the city get yourself 1.50-2.00 dollar slices of pizza on st. marks (don't pay those ridiculous 7 - 11 dollar fees) South Street Seaport (2,4,5 to FULTON) The Elevated Acre (55 Water street over looks the water) you can take a 4 dollar ride on the NYC FERRY and go around from manhattan to the bronx and back seeing great lands The Little Island (14th street) top of google building (also 14th street rooftop with view of city and jersey) Walk up and down 11th ave to see all the amazing piers The Manhattan Bridge also has incredible views of the city Midtown Waterfront near sutton pl Central Parks large coverage (the museums altho some pricey are worth seeing Metropolitan, Natural History etc) it's awesome

Did you know the planting design was done by the dutch designer Piet Oudolf. He did many famous things even in the UK.
For those wondering, DUMBO stands for Down Under Manhatten Brooklyn Overpass
Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass
