    Print your image onto regular paper. Grab some cotton wool balls. Dip them in baby oil. Rub the oil into the paper and hang the paper to dry. The oil makes the paper translucent leaving the image intact. We used this method back at school when we couldn't afford to get transparencies printed. Works perfectly the only restriction is size of course.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds really messy. I wouldn't want to put oil on my screens because it will cause issues with the emulsion adhering to the screens.

    • @AnthonyMonaghan
      @AnthonyMonaghan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TshirtChick not in the slightest bit messy. You just need a cotton wool ball with literally a dab off baby oil . The paper absorbs the oil and then hang it with a clothes peg to dry. I've done this with my kids....it's kiddie proof messy! Test it out on a plane piece of printer paper. The transparent paper is dry when you use it against the screen and it doesn't effect the emulsion.

    you don't need to go that far like using vynal. All you need to do is print it on paper (but make sure it's thin) then what you should do is apply veg oil on the screen that u have made, then put that printed paper on the oiled screen and trust me ur paper becomes transparent because of oil and then you can expose it to light. Booom you got your screen.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vegetable oil will be super messy and I would hate to mess up my screens by putting oil on them. You have to degrease the screens or the emulsion will not stick to it so vegetable oil will cause issues with that.

      IDK I never thought of that LOL!! It could work but the backing is a little thicker than regular paper. I'll have to try it. I'm gonna start using my other printer the HP T120. I think this printer is just old and it's time to give up on printing film with it. I have had it before I even got in this building so it's 10 years or more old. I don't have any issues printing plain paper for some strange reason.

      You're Welcome! When you start screen printing Don't get Rid of the Yudu Right away you can use it as an exposure unit until you are ready to purchase a bigger exposure unit.

    How long do you burn your screens for?

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      With my set-up about 5 mins. Your time may be different depending on the type of emulsion you use, the exposure unit you use, etc

    You can also use vegetable oil on plain copy paper to make the paper transparent and hold the image to the screen, it works when you really need it done quick.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds really messy and I don't think it's good for vegetable oil to come in contact with you screens.

    • @EverythingByNesha
      @EverythingByNesha 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually works well. I also burn using vinyl directly on screen. It takes some time time getting each piece off but I never have an issue with it not having good contact. You do what you have to with limited resources.

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just the regular time about 5 mins or what ever the normal time you would use when using emulsion for what ever set-up you are using.

    This is nifty! Very creative! Can you easily reuse the vinyl transparency again?

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't try to remove it but I think it will be easy as long as you use the smooth side and not the side that the printer would print on.

    I tried this as well and using waterbase ink, the vinyl will come off the screen if you are wanting to use vinyl on the screens instead of emulsion.
    Also make sure your printer is on photo glossy

    • @TshirtChick
      @TshirtChick  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have used waterbased inks in the past back when I first started screen printing while using vinyl as the stencil and had no issues IDK what happened in your situation. I have some older videos that I posted where I'm using it like some of the older cringe worthy videos LOL!
