on the equus, it's also passive tameable with berries or carrots, so it's an easy first tame. It's also the lasso mount, so you can lasso people out of holes or just haul them along with you to escape stuff, and you can pull knocked-out wilds out of the water or into your base for taming :) And the equus saddle converts it to a mortar and pestle that can use the entire inventory of the horse. So, a 300 slot mortar and pestle for set-it-and-forget-it grinding of mass quantities. One of the best early tames imo.
Even more amazing when Scorched Earth comes with adobe tier of structures, as the Equus gets something like a 90% weight reduction on sand - used for making the clay that's part of making adobe.
Iguanodons!! I fell in love with them on Aberration. They have 2 stances like the Spino. Very fast. Good harvester. You can get seeds from any berry or crop you gather. Things like that! Keep up the good work my guy 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

A buddy of mine bred spinos that can go toe-toe with melee capped gigas on a server. A pair of them could actually take on 10 melee capped gigas, as once the gigas enraged, they would start damaging each other. These spinos had 150khp, and I forget how much melee
it’s one of my favorites, it’s super fast, good weight, and is pretty strong considering how small it is, also a good harvester since it can gather meat, berries, and fiber
Otter have an oxygen stat. You can see it in this video. You just never notice this because they generally will not drown before your character does. But also, they will share your scuba tank while on your shoulder, but at zero added cost. I am pretty sure all shoulder mounts share your scuba while on your shoulder. So do not have an otter on follow, while underwater, without access to your scuba oxygen. They will die, and not save themselves by swimming to the surface since they are on follow. Tapejara also can cling to surfaces, and you can shoot from their backs while landed, or on a vertical surface. I am not sure if you can shoot from their backs while flying in ASA. Equus have a mortar, and pestle in their saddle. Since you mentioned that you could not remember.
love these guides and as a noob im learning a lot. Would love to see some videos about passive skills for all tames! (stuff like how the iguanadon cant give you seeds)
I tried to set up an organic polymer farm with a moschops leveled up in organic polymer only and it's very in consistent. sometimes I get hundreds, other times I get only dozens.
I would take Otters off the list as they are almost a requirement in single player mode for Artifact farming and I would add Beelzebufo (for farming cementing paste, caving, and general versatility) or Castoroides (for woodfarming and their smithy saddle).
Carno is definitely under appreciated and is very useful in early to mid tier game. I was able to kill a Lvl 40 Alpha Megalodon with its bleed kill. I doesn’t stack but slowly but surely it got killed.

The reason why people dont use some of these dinos is because most people play on servers with higher rates. These dinos are designed to be usefull on vanilla rates where they matter. High rate servers kinda make some of these dinos obsolete unless they have a PvP use
Most of these are under used because there's something else in game that does what they do way better. Also, your suggestion that the tapejara is just as fast as the ptera is way off. It''s somewhere between the speed of an argy and ptera, and probably closer to argy speed. Additionally, a ptera can use its C attack to move much quicker. With enough stamina on a ptera, you can C attack yourself across the map at least twice as fast as a Tapejara can do it. I like the Tapejara for building tall structures and for aerial taming with a tribemate with the passenger saddle.
