Good info. Thanks. While I prefer not to negotiate my productized service (explainers), I've found myself "grandfathering" in lower, older pricing for repeat clients. This can be bad if our rates never go up, but can also be a way to reward repeat customers. Always appreciate your insights!

This is such a great mindset around being 'stuck' on lower pricing for previous clients... "Reward repeat customers" I like that! Thanks so much for your comment!

My current strategy is to get new clients and raise my rate with them, that way should I loose my old (spoilt) clients I have the new ones to rely on...
But also here in Spain, the rates are all over the place. A work mate offered to take over a project of his, I asked him how much he charged (Using C4D and AFX). 100€ he said.
I told him that's much too low and just decided it won't even be worth ...negotiating with them.

@@MotionHatch can you also plan to make detailed video on how to get hight paying client from behance, because I don't have a personal website to showcase my work that's why I am using behance as my motion design portfolio from last 2 years, moreover what one can do to get their projects featured on behnace, what's the eligibility criteria for it?

Helpful video. Thanks Hayley! The 1,2,3 pricing tier makes a lot of sense to me.

I'd love to hear your perspective on value-based pricing. Specifically though clients who either can't or won't disclose the profits they expect from the project. Chris from The Futur Academy once mentioned that he's wrestled value-based pricing from a client by agreeing on a percentage of their profits per that project. There are a lot of great clients that probably wouldn't know how much they're about to get due to lack of experience or because it's a new sales strategy, etc. Then there are going to be people that refuse to disclose for anything from legal reasons or beyond.

Great question, I'll consider this when creating the VBP video. I appreciate your comment.

The biggest thing that helped me create great work was asking for 50pc or 100pc on my invoice upfront depending on my relationship with the client. This really allowed me to stop worrying about my income and focus on the client's needs.

    • @MotionHatch

I have heard of lots of people doing 50% upfront but not usually 100%. It's cool you can ask for that. How do you make it so the client is comfortable with it?

    Hey Hayley,
I used to be really motivated to learn after effects and C4D through tutorials.
But now with AI and new tools,
Is learning after effects, C4D is still a better option to be a better designer?

    • @MotionHatch
      @MotionHatch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think it's less about the tools but more about how you develop your style and craft. Because more people are working remotely I don't think that studios are necessarily requiring you to use same tools as them. For me it's always been more about learning more communication and business skills plus upgrading technical skills and working on your positioning in the industry. Does that help Tarun?

I have a different problem, where it seems like I can get new prospective clients to agree to pretty much any rate, but instead of negotiating they ghost me before we even begin. 🙃
Just the pitfalls of playing the game, I guess.
