Thank you, I have just started this. I watched first read the comments which answers one of my questions before I went and asked it. You are brilliant at teaching and I love listening to you, it sounds like you are sitting next to me, can even hear you tell the dog to "Leave Momma whilst she does this bit!"
Ty already in process of making one. Definitely caffeine and stitching! I love your bablings so ramble on! It's like listening to a good friend when I turn on your channel.
Welcome to the world of "Shawl in a Ball", Spider! I've done a few shawls using it and also Caron Cakes, although l like Shawl in a Ball a bit better, due to not having to piece colors together. Can't wait to try this scarf with Shawl in a Ball! Thanks for your wonderful tutorials!
Thank you! Great idea, just love it when people think outside of the box! If you can some how connect the beginning with the end in a seamless fashion, now that would be neato!
I have just made your boomerang shawl and now I want to make this one! Now I just have to find some gorgeous yarn for it. Thank You so much from Sweden. 🌞🌝🌞
I just discovered your channel & this is the first tutorial I've watched of yours.... I enjoyed the explanation & the choices you gave.... Not many videos give you the choices you gave... I just subscribed to your channel, now I'm going to go discover what other tutorials you have.... Definitly making this one as soon as possible.... Thanks again for the most unusual but beautiful scarf I've seen in awhile
Fiber Spider You are my brother from another mother, you and I work so much alike I love this and will totally do this, if I was able I would just give you one big hug thank you .
I adore this pattern and just found it ! Yes, very beautifully delicate and lacy......Going to try crocheting it and I have shawl in a ball as I like using the thinner weight even tho they say 4, it feels like a 3.
I love this pattern, as I say of all your tutorials, but so true. I understand what you mean by the single crochet making the turns "bunch up" a little, and the doubles making it a bit "too lacy" . I tried doing a Half-Double Crochet after the turn and I think it might be just the compromise you were looking for. Less bunching AND less lacy. I'd be interested to know what you think. Thank you for all you efforts. Love your work!!
There's an excellent yarn yardage calculator on the Joy of Motion crochet website. Frankly, it depends on many things: the size of hook, the weight of yarn and your tension. You'll do a test square of your pattern and then input the stitches per inch etc. The labels on yarn skeins are very careful to indicate how many stitches per inch on a specific needle too. Labels help, but it all comes down to test square and math. It's all explained very well at that website.
I found it!!! I'm making a table runner with this using double stranded size 10 crochet cotton thread using a size E (I believe a 4.0 mm crochet hook, mine doesn't have the mm measurement on it.)
Good Morning Fiberspider,I was wondering ,I’m working on the shawl now, then I will this. But have you done one in a wrap,or can it even be done. Thanks for all you do.Your my first go to on TH-cam.
Hi can I crochet more than four double crochets in a row to make a piece of art for the wall instead of a scarf please comment and let me know it's so beautiful I would love to have it hanging on my sister's wall thank you Sean black
It really depends on what yarn/hook you are using, and how wide you want the piece to be. Just create a strip of arches as long as you want the piece wide, realizing that 4 arches will be eaten when you turn the corner, and then go for it 😉☕🕷
Sorry start with 20 sets of 4 to make a scarf with shawl in a ball and size E needle? Size I needle for regular worsted yarn? Is that right? Love the pattern it's different for a scarf.
No problem, size G hook for shawl in a ball yarn - otherwise all correct. Keep in mind everyone's gauge and tension is different so do what feels right for you. 😊☕🕷
I'm trying to do it a lil bigger like yours with 20 at first. do i do 6 after or would it be 10. since in the swatch you initially started with 12 then 6 i was figuring that is half. but when i did half of the 20 out don't look right. please clarify
Ah, gotcha. Okay, so with the initial piece I did, I made about 20 arches total then grabbed the 4 on one side to make the curve. I didn't add the 6 arches to the 20 on the first pass. The beginning number of arches is arbitrary, however you will need at least 4 arches on one side of the strip in order to do the "grab". After you do the clustering grab, and connect your additional straggling arch loops, then you make 6 arches straight up and unconnected to then be able to make the u-turn. I hope this clarifies things a bit 😊☕🕷
I don't see any reason why not. However you may need to make adjustments when making turns. Try it out, be adventurous, it's how we grow and learn by trying new methods! 😉
Have you listened to Eric Hoffer who was a dock worker who wrote books? Very interesting. Ten books. He was a moral social philosopher "The True Believer" his stuff is on you tube for free.
Love your tutorials!! Thank you for another awesome one.😊🥰🥰😊
I've wanted to try this for some time, but thought it too difficult. Hahaha. Thank you for showing me the err of my thoughts. You are loved.

Fantastic.
I have done 4of ur shawls and going to do these one
I stumble On a pattern like this for a cardigan, looks nice also.
i would love to make it into a wrap not sure how to do it as you mentioned
I started making this stunning scarf... i am wondering if after blocking it will hold better?
I used “shawl in a ball” - cleansing quatrz
So cool!
Good Morning Fiberspider,I was wondering ,I’m working on the shawl now, then I will this. But have you done one in a wrap,or can it even be done. Thanks for all you do.Your my first go to on TH-cam.
love this pattern
How do I send you a pic with some tweaks on this stitch you so graciously put out?
Hi can I crochet more than four double crochets in a row to make a piece of art for the wall instead of a scarf please comment and let me know it's so beautiful I would love to have it hanging on my sister's wall thank you Sean black
This is a beautiful pattern. If I wanted to make a shawl how many arches would I start out with?
It really depends on what yarn/hook you are using, and how wide you want the piece to be. Just create a strip of arches as long as you want the piece wide, realizing that 4 arches will be eaten when you turn the corner, and then go for it 😉☕🕷
its very nice
Have you ever used Hobbii yarn?
Thank you!
to make bigger than 12 rows or wider how would i go about that .
What have you done to finish off the ends of your scarf? Do you just stop??
Yup, you stop on a straightaway omitting the curve ☺
Fiber Spider I experimented and have joined it up to make an infinity scarf. I am very proud of my effort, it is hard to tell where it joins
Way to go, I tried that and had a lot of difficulty. Would love to see what you have done!
how do I add a photo?
You can visit my community page on Facebook also under Fiber Spider, lots of people share pics and ideas there 😉
What other kind of yarn can i use i don't what to use Red Heart Super Saver
You can use whatever you like really. I just used super saver for the tutorial because I had it on hand and that it would be easy to see. 😉

Fiber Spider is there any way you could do a tutorial for it
So you started 20 sets e for shawl in a ball, I weighted worst? Right!
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean exactly. 🤔
Spider is there a written pattern for this?
Uhm never mind...it might be more confusing!🥴
could we make this bigger? I mean, instead of 4 dc's, we could use 6 or 5 or so on instead?
I don't see any reason why not. However you may need to make adjustments when making turns. Try it out, be adventurous, it's how we grow and learn by trying new methods! 😉
