EXO is the most unfiltered group I've ever seen. Their friendship is not for show, they keep it very raw and honest. This is the reason why even when they meet almost every other day, they don't click too many photos or post it on sns, they value privacy a LOT. Yes in the past when they were young they've said or done things that may have hurt each other's feelings but they themselves said that they speak it out over a few drinks and get it solved. But all this is not so much visible to the people who are not too much into them, for them they'd seem like they're not so close, but we Exo-ls know how much they love each other and how real their friendship is !

But the truth is they are too close to acting lovey dovey. They are like real siblings who fight, disagree, have friends outside of the group, and maintain those perfectly but in the end, they understand each other value each other, and love each other.
when you get to know EXO more, you will see that these men treat each other as family/siblings more than friends. Thus, they can sound blunt with each other. One of the things that make EXO different from other BGs is that they are actually way closer with each other behind the camera which they do not usually put on social media and we just find out from other people.

If I am always nice to the person, I know I am not that close to them. The closer you are, the more you know about your friends quirks and idiosyncrasies. This is usually what I tease my friends about, and I expect them to do the same to me. It's about knowing a person's limits, how far you can push, and knowing that they know it is all in good fun. So to me, EXO have always seemed to be super close.
it's so funny because sometimes I watch old Exo interview and when asked about who is closest sehun always chooses suho and it's still relevant to this day I don't know it's just satisfying to know they're still there for each other! and chanyeol talks about hanging out with sehun from time to time and we can see he still does today through his channel! Chen didn't lie when he said sehun is a very loyal friend
