The song written by Mark as he watched the Falklands conflict in 1982, his despair at war.
The words cut deep for all military personnel in all wars no matter what side.
Enters your soul as painfuly and easily as knife through butter.

I had a school mate in 2nd Para who shot killed two Argentinians at Goose Green Falklands War 1982. He said it was them or us.
I can't believe reading this as an old man 42 years later that Europe is at War again. As you age and become more aware you realise this is no coincidence, the 0.1% Evil Billionaires who influence our corrupt puppet government's of our planet send our less privileged Brother's WITH Arms that they have a vested interest in to War. Then send their huge building contractors in to rebuild the country all paid for by loans to those countries who will be effectively mortgaged for the next Century (The UKs 1914 WW1 debt to US was finally paid off 101 years later in 2015). The richest get richer and the poorest are sacrificed like pawns.

It's is one of the most hard hitting powerful songs that only brothers in arms can appreciate in a different way than most other people, if the hairs on your neck stand up and you feel the butterflies then you know what the song represents
      Lest we forget.

I'm a former military sniper. My best friend was my spotter. He was shot and killed next to me. The five guys shooting at us are not going to shoot anyone else ever again.
I took my best friend and buried him in a safe place so our enemies could not desecrate his body. The idea that his parents may have seen his body drug behind a truck was more than I could bear.
This is a great video and made me think of my best friend and all of the brothers I lost.

As the helicopter landed we looked inside, it was full of the broken & burnt but there was little said. We picked up a Welsh Guards corporal and lowered him onto our stretcher save him falling out onto the ground. Most of his right leg was missing. As we carried him 100m to the triage point, next to a wire fence, he joked about having to learn football as he would no longer be able to play rugby. When we put him down, he had returned to the valleys & the farms. 40 years on and this song says it all.

Im 53 and just realised these words when i was doing a work out, so googled this song which lead me to this page, i have to say that song should be an anthem for every country to seriously think about the lives and destruction they play a part of when going to war and the impact they play on human cost and destruction of families, for the greatness of greed, that is what causes war, war is GREED and POWER, we need to live in harmony, respect your fellow neighbour, try to respect culture and our diffrences and maybe we can live as ONE.

In 1985 I went through basic training at Fort Jackson. At which point they took away all of our contact to the outside world with the exception of letters. The biggest thing I missed was driving a car and of course the radio. One of my brothers in arms brought me a tape player around midnight with this song. This was strictly forbidden. I played it over and over until the sunlight came into the barracks. It has had a profound effect on me to this day. Thanks for posting this. 91 Alpha Combat Medic.

Victor, we who have been to war do so that you and others may never have to. A true warrior hopes to never have to use the skills and tools but is prepared to give all. Oddly, it’s men in suits that make war while warriors with guns make peace.

I've never served, but from the first time I heard this, back in the mid 80s, it moved me. The hauntingly beautiful melodies, and poetic imagery, is so powerful! We all belong to the brotherhood of Man. The thought of the mayhem of battle, and the desolation of the aftermath, is heartbreaking and tragic! Nothing is gained, and so very very much is lost forever. 💔 Let us wage Peace!🕊

This song gives me comfort. I was never in the military, never shot a gun anger. I am thankful for those whom did. I do not mean to steal their glory in anyway. They truly fight battles to keep us all safe. But I am in a type of battle for my life. Have advanced cancer. It is the strength of my fellow brothers and sisters in arms who are also battling cancer that helps me deal with the bad days. Praying for my fellow cancer warriors.
Update, they just found that I have an egg sized brain tumor. The tumor board told me I will need surgery to remove it. Well, on the positive side, I get to interact with a whole new group of warriors fighting meningiomas.
