You can make the surface smoother where their claws cannot get a hold and roost. They will find a better spot elsewhere.

I may try that, Allan. I have some sheet metal scraps in my "stash" of stuff that should work for that....

I can attest to this! I have a small pest control biz. We usually staple up some aluminum flashing.

Chuck just my personal experience. Btw Ive had a small pest conttol biz for a while. Im very happy you arent okay with hurting it!
But odors generally dont work or if they do its only short term. Once the bat recognizes the odor is not any threat they ignore it.( Thats generally the mouse electronic plug ins dont work)That has been my personal results anyway from many years of trial and error! Now we usually staple up some flashing(just make sure top edge of flashing is tight to roof/house so bats cant grab) Then we hang up a bathouse nearby in a tree or shed/garage.
Also noise or sudden light motion deters them as well. Good luck✌️
Thanks for your incredibly entertaining videos!

Thank you, Betty! Yeah....I don't want to hurt it, I just don't want it right there. I don't know how long bats live, but this has been going on for several summers now, and I keep thinking that it won't come back....but, sure enough, it does. Thanks for the feedback and for the kind words about my videos!

I'm not sure how effective this is but it's worth experimenting with . Hang aluminum foil - another inexpensive way is to hang aluminum foils. They are flashy and emit light which bats cannot stand long during their roosting periods.
Install a mirror- installing a mirror will reflect light. Since most of the time bats brood in dark isolated places, installing mirrors can be a smart trick to push bats away only if you know how to place them correctly for light reflection.
Good luck with the Bat saga 👍

Hello! I hope it works 🙏 ... I know using natural products they dissipate quicker and need reapplied more often.. as when using earth friendly products to clean something baked, caked or sun fried on lol it requires a lil elbow grease so to speak, but it adds that touch to keep things natural lol... Anyways i have had a couple ideas come to mind, minus a gurantee, but you can decide if it is worth or needed to give it a try. So first one goes back to o bat house idea .. but locating it nearby Mr. Bat's perferred hanging spot on your house. I kinda think things if i cannot beat it how can i join it? And thats when i find creative solutions and with the best aesthetic appeal . I don't have an idea of what the larger area looks like off or on that porch area so i am just giving ideas that might spark an idea in you, that you find if fitting... If i didn't have a tree or post close for a bat house i think a large plastic flower planter or of the like and insert lattice or a trellis or garden stakes and chicken wire... Make a half moon or V shape and a piece of something secured at the top for like a little place to tuck away from the elements... I see it in my head and trying to explain it best i can ... But its just building like a little alcove in a planter pot and then naybe add artificial ivy or artificial turf in the lattice ir wire or maybe even garden burlap..that then makes this 'bat nook' more screening and shelter from the elements ... A bat porch corner in a planter pot idea/theme 🤷🏼‍♀️ lol Hang a bat house in that nook bat alcove up towards the top under its lil 'roof' or put something there that a bat like to use to hang from....i use bamboo garden stakes for many outside of the box ideas and easy to cut, or secure together with wire/twine what ever works ...Now this idea i can also see being made or designed on a lil larger, or not, scale and be put up against your house ... Walmart amazon or garden home box stores do sell planter boxes, plastic or wood and come to be assebled including a trellis to make like a back wall for plants/vines to grow up so thats my thoughts with suggestions astro turf or fake plastic ivy greenery so that it can be sprayed with some vinegar and soap maybe a lil borax and essential oils mixed in and hosed off and cleaned as Mr. Bat leaves behind clues to be known as here ... Lol ... I hope you need no more ideas, but if you are still in discovery maybe this will help the brain storm.... Oh and one more thing ... Animals ~ animal spirit messages present themselves sometimes to rely a message and stick unround until its received ... Not always, but possibilities exist... i sm sure stranger experiences have happened before lol 🤷🏼‍♀️ and if it was me i would ask myself if there is a message here to receive, beyond being a favored air bat B&B by One particular bat, lol ...i would open up to abd ask to receive an answer and maybe another showertime answers drop in from divine or spirit or anyname energy capable to assist using mind speak.... i would also google spiritual meaning/ message for bat(s) or bat animal totem animal or vat animal spirit guide...you may be pleasantly surprised or confirmation or possible reason/explanation ...There will be many sources of info to choose quick article reads ... I explore many to gather a good scope of what is most to least commonly shared in agreement, or not, but most often i go what resonates and sometimes nothing does... 😊 i know this is long but i hope there is something helpful... If not, i apologize because i have done the same thing to myself thinking through to solutions and the ideas are great but not practical for this or that ... GOOD LUCK CHUCK! ✌🏼💚🕯️✨🙏

Hello Chuck, I’ve had success with Flying Squirrels and a small bag full of moth balls. Don’t know if that would work for bats, but pretty cheap to try. Just tack nail a porous bag it in that corner and see what happens.

Yeah, Vince, I tried the moth ball thing. Didn't work. None of the "normal stuff" seems to work here. I don't think this bat has ever read the rule book....

Maybe you can use a big spotlight with a cutout of a bat and shine into the night sky. He may go fight crime in Phoenix😊

No, Jennifer, no bug zappers. Besides, he doesn't get his bugs there. He catches them elsewhere, and just comes here to eat....and pee....and poop....

Bats are good to have around…. They eat a TON of mosquitoes daily! Why don’t you build a bat box ( house), put it in a nearby tree? They truly are beneficial little guys 😊

Oh, Maggie, I'm not anti-bat! I love bats! I just don't want THIS bat to be leaving his (her?) messes HERE. And, as I've said before, anything that eats mosquitos is a friend of mine, 'cause I hate mosquitos....

@@chuckjacobs-arizona7698 LOL! 100% agree that anything that eats skeetters is a life long friend! I’m sorry, I did not mean it to sound ‘anti-bat’ Chuck. if I hear of any bat-deterrents, I’ll def let you know! We’ve always tried to attract them…Just a bat house might get the little dude off your porch ☺️

Hey Chuck, I have had a bat do the same thing in our awning what worked best for me because I too love them and hate skeeters I used a Halloween motion detection ghost that shakes and makes noise when set off and then the wife made me make a batbox that birds made a house out of but bats are no longer invading my house

Thanks, Rusty! I have a little battery-operated motion sensor light, that I'm thinking about putting up there to try. I have porch lights that are pretty bright, but I don't want to leave them on all night....
