TBH: I wasn't a big Smashing Pumpkins fan, or a fan of Billy as a vocalist, until I heard Zwan. I've been jamming this album for almost 20yrs and it's the best album Billy has done.
Thank you to Billy,D'arcy,Paz,James & Jimmy,y'all changed my life at 14 years old. I didn't know what the hell was going on but I knew there were kids next door literally smashing pumpkins in front of my friends aunt's house, ..I hung out all night snuck into the set of 1979, kicked out, changed my shirt and Valarie, the director asked me if I had signed my release form cause we were filming in 20 min, I signed saying I was 18**** then I ask billy 30 min later what kinda music they were gonna play?!?!!!! WTF! I'm 41 now still the same kid sneaking into places maybe I shouldn't. I look back at my 20-30s working at bars , restaurants Hardrock Cafes & shit , they play 1979 music video on every screen every 45 min, people trip and tipped me.. Long story it's literally my only home video of me. I wasn't acting. Valerie told me to just have fun.. it was the most authentic footage..#1 video and now the pumpkins are forever with always. I got this when it came out and wasn’t that into it. I wanted more Bullet with Butterly wings and Everlasting gaze back then. But now I’m really enjoying it! Might have to buy it again.
Love this and the whole album, and the dvd, and all the bootlegs, they were like one of the last real rock bands, for real, saw them in Cleveland and Cincinnati
I went to see Swan twice and loved them a little too much apparently because I waa sober, but managed during what I thought was a flare let up from P.O.T.S., I passed out at both shows, if that's not dedication to a band trying to see them I don't know what is! I still caught most of both shows , just people always assume oh is she on drugs or is it a diabetic coma? So I had a med alert bracelet made and haven't been able to go to concerts during flares. Its been since 2009 since my last. I had to sit a lot, with crowds. 😅
