- Crossing Souls is a great Indie game title that has found the delicate balance between creating something original and preserving nostalgia. Compiling every type of game play from the early 80's and 90's classics, this Earthbound-like classic adventure RPG immerses gamers in all that was great about the early days of gaming, in a unique an seamless world-saving adventure! It is truly one for the collection of any RPG, Action, Classics, or Story-Driven gaming fan.
I didn't have high expectations when I saw this in the eShop at first glance until I clicked on it and saw screenshots. I like the art style, the mechanics, and the variety of gameplay styles. I'll plan to pick this one up soon.
It's true, it is a deceptive one. I couldn't believe how much there was to it though. The gaming elements I'm used to felt right, and the play element from gaming genres that I never really invested in, were well integrated, and made me step out if my gamimy comfort zone. And the whole story just kept evolving and growing the entire time! Really happy I got a copy.
Man, it's on sale right now. After watching this review, I'm really considering to buy it.
Same .
Me too 😂
I’m years late but just bought this for my switch lite. lol better late than never !!! Thanks for your game reviews. Love finding great indies at good prices.
No worries at all! Glad the content is still helpful. :D
Are you watching this because of black Friday too? Just buy it! Use those nintendo points!
(bump) #goodadvice lol!
@@BudgetGamerChannel Dude I'm loving it. As soon as you said it was similar to Earthbound I bought it😂
Budget Gamer! I just purchased this title while listening to your review. It was on sale for a slight discount in the eShop, but it's been on my wishlist for awhile now. The aesthetics are gorgeous, the color palette just makes me happy, and being a child of the 80s, I am really looking forward to the nostalgia and the storyline that this game is holding for me. Thanks for the recommendation and looking forward to all of your future content!
Youll have to let me know what you think, Brian. I know the game has its flaws, but dang if they aint endearing~
It's $3.74 on the eshop rn. Had to watch your review to remind myself why I put it in ny wishlist. 🤗
Lololol! Well I'm glad our old video format and poor audio didn't scare you off. Haha!
I was on the fence about this one but after watching this review I'm considering buying it now. You got a new subscriber too keep it up.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel. 😁
I'm ordering the physical copy of this! Thanks for the video! Just Subbed!
Haha! Awesome! Welcome to the BGC, and you're totally welcome. I love discovering these gems and sharing them with you all. :D
That physical copy has been announced! I've placed my order. Thanks for helping me decide on my purchase!
Oh heck yeah! I ordered mine too! :D
Just plowed through this one. Great recommendation. Well done story and trip back to my childhood. Worth every penny. I caught a few bugs where the final boss got stuck in the corner but what a trip it was.
Glad you enjoyed it Filthy! It was way more of a game than I expected, and I really hope they release a physical copy some day. Sorry about the glitch though. I had that happen too, but I thought it was just cause it took me so many tries to beat that area. Haha! 😅😅
I had the same thought
Special reserve games is doing a physical release for this game soon hopped on TH-cam to see a review because I’ve never heard of the game before. Definitely looks like something I would like depends on how expensive the physical copy will be
Ohhmuhgawd! Im totally getting that!!! Thanks for shouting out the physical release. 😎👍
Limited Run Games just put this game on sale as a physical copy for anyone that wants one!
I just bought this one and Ditto Sword from Special Reserve Games (havent reviewed Ditto Sword yet, but ive heard its oretty great). 😎👍
@@BudgetGamerChannel Great! I'm crossing my fingers for a Hades special edition physical release as well.
Oh, now that woukd be amazing. Im betting LRG will put that out in less than a year.
Special Reserve Games just released a physical, and Limited Run is selling a cover variant too!
Oh, you better know i got my copy already. 😆
But seriously, thanks for calling this out in the comments. 👊😎
@@BudgetGamerChannel you're welcome...your review was inspiring and you seem all about it so I figured I would drop the news incase you didnt already know lol. I like the SRG cover art and they're local to where I live...but dont really care about the laser blaster thing and added pricetag. But LRG is less expensive and I'm wanting doom64 too...so might save on shipping. Choices choices lol. How did you originally hear about cross souls?
Originally, I found it like I find most of my games. There was an eShop sale so I got it while the getting was good. 🤣😅
I know, its not a very magical process, but i cruise the eShop a couple times a week for the deep sales.
As far as the physical though... you can sign up for Limited Game News on twitter and they will send a weekly email with new physical releases. 😎👍
I'm sold on this decision, thank you!
You're very welcome! 😁👍
Physical copy goes on sale at Special Reserve Games on 9.29.20
Oh, you better know im getting that! It took them a year, but the phys copy us finally here! Woo! 🥳🥳🥳
Thanks for the review! great stuff. I love your format, good length and really tight script. I really like these!! This game really does look fantastic! I may have to pick it up! Cheers!
Gimpler, this has got to be one of my favorite Switch game to date. For the price, its hard to believe that there is so much to it. Thanks for the supportive feedback! Hope you enjoy the game! ^_^
I think my fave Switch games so far has to be Bloodstained Curse of the Moon and Axiom Verge! I'd love to get your take on those games!
Physical pre orders from limited run now available!!!!
Getting it! 🥳
I can only find it on the special reserve games website. It goes on sale on the 29th. 🤔
@@BudgetGamerChannel I saw it on limited run's FB page. It's probably the same version because it also starts on the 29th
Buying it today! 2 minutes to go. Woo!
$3.74 ..worth it
Yep. Just bought it myself.
I just bought it for 14 bucks. It's cool, retro synth wave music. Its tripped out.
Dope you reviewed this to!
Hahah! Yeah. This one was fun. 😁
I played the demo on PS4 and I loved it! Reminds me of the Goonies too. :3 Definitely will pick it up hopefully next month. Great review as well. Simple, quick yet informative.
I think I'm still in shock from this game. There's just so much content, and it was done so Well! I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for the support!
Budget Gamer Keep it up! I hope you get more subs soon.
Haha! I do too! 😅😅😅
But, don't worry, this is a labor of love so I'm not going anywhere, despite the number of subs. 😉
On sale in the switch eshop right now for $3.74
Special Reserve Games is coming out with a physical edition.
I must own it! 👊😎
I'll get this for sure. I just don't know if I'll be able to wait for a sale. Thanks for the review!
Totally worth it Fox, even at full price. I hope you enjoy it! 😁👍
Budget Gamer just now no eshop mexico
Great review
Thanks Dan!
1st time watching tour channel great job. Subscribing
Glad to have you, Anthony! Welcome to the channel!
I dealt with the bugs and the glitchs in this game all the way up to after the heartless fight. First half of the game great, the second half horrible execution trying to achieve more than it can provide. I'm glad I got it on sale for $7 I got my money out of it from the first half I'm deleting it off my switch I don't need to finish it
I just saw it on the eShop today, and i'm looking for some reviews yo see if worth it.. i think i'm gonna get this game lol
That's awesome! Thanks for the comment, Stephania. Crossing Souls is a pretty great retro adventure that almost feels like watching a Saturday morning cartoon. Loved the art and overblown plot. 😂
Enjoyed the review and your delivery, however some of the story spoilers were... spoilers.
I will watch some more of your reviews going forwards... with caution
Oh, hey atomicradiotheater! I'm really happy you enjoyed the review, but I'm really surprised to hear that you felt there were story spoilers in it. If you read the game description, or watch the official game trailer, I'm pretty sure the same amount of story is covered.
Right on the game's website, literally states that "a group of kids discover an artifact, which defies the laws of nature and allows them to fight a major government conspiracy between the worlds of life and death."
If it's not that though, please let me know what you felt was a spoiler, so I can try to be more careful on my future videos. Sorry again buddy. Hope to hear back from you about this. 👍
@@BudgetGamerChannel Phenomenal response. To be fair I had bought this nearly blind, avoiding as much as possible, in part because of the credited performers on the sound tract. Your thoughtful reply though, very professional! +100 respect.
Thanks for gettin back to me about this, atomic. As I'm sure you can tell, this channel is in its infancy and I'm still learning too, so your feedback is really important. As a head's-up though, nearly all my reviews will outline the game genre and story before moving into gameplay. But, I try pretty hard not to give away anything! 😅
Hope you enjoy, and happy gaming! 😎👍
Okay, this is so much closer to what I'm looking for these days. Too bad it's not on sale, but does anyone think it's worth the $15 asking price?
Oh, this is an older one! I'd say it's worth it... but I'm thinking, as soon as you buy it, they are going to announce a physical release. 😂
(Wait for a sale)
@@BudgetGamerChannel Yeah, I took a look at the Devs for this game and they've got a pretty solid list of games. However, I ended up getting caught up in Forgotten Anne, which I'm very grateful they've got a demo for it. It's on sale for $7.50 and with the demo, I'm definitely considering throwing down on it. O go for the story-driven stuff, which is why this game you reviewed is more up my alley, but at $15, I'm not sure if I should get this or do another month of World of Warcraft. Forgotten Anne is making it hard, but, you said you've got a good one coming on the 23rd of March. Definitely gonna hold off on this game until I hear from your Monday review. Anyways, stay safe out (in) there.
Hey, if you like story-driven.. this ones a little out there, but have you looked into "White Night"? Its a trip! 😱
@@BudgetGamerChannel No, I haven't actually. Have you reviewed it yet?
Edit: looks like you did. I'll take a look at your review.
Great video this is the second time I've viewed your channel I think I'm going to sub but for some reason this video freezes at the 2:45 mark
Does it freeze completely, or does it stutter? I'm trying to figure out what the issue could be. I cant seem to get it to freeze completely when I play it back. 🤔
@@BudgetGamerChannel it freezes completely for me and it won't let me finish the video I restarted the video and everything and it always freezes at the same mark and I have a Galaxy S7 if that helps
That's so weird. I have a galaxy note, and I've tried it on the pc... hmmm... I'll see if I can get hold of tech support monday. Thank you for pointing it out.
Great video...thanks.
50% off right now.
20s or 30s, kids from the 80s? I think your maths is a little off.
This or sleep tight?
Jason, It really depends on what you're into. Sleep tight is a tower defender through-and-through, but this game is an adventure RPG. So if you're in the mood for a tower defender, go with sleep tight, because there really aren't any tower defender elements In crossing souls. But that's probably because the tower defender genre wasn't actually around in the 90's. If you're looking for a nostalgic adventure game, I would suggest going with crossing souls.
