Gordon Murray's automobile taste is impeccable, just as one would expect from such a legendary designer. As a former automobile stylist and lifelong Alfa buff, the Junior Zagato is high up among my favorite Alfas: I love how advanced it was compared to most cars of the period, and Gordon's styling touches are perfectly judged. I'll never tire of seeing that car!

Saw this car at Alfaholics and it was utterly stunning. Max and Andrew produce some stunning cars and this one is really special. The first time I saw a JZ, I couldn’t quite believe it was a 105 series because it looked so modern. So much detail in this car that Gordon has had Max do. I love this thing.

Lightweight is what I like most about Gordon and his favourite cars. Cars have got much heavier over the last 30 years so power has needed to increase then more use of dual-clutch transmissions to manage the power along with traction control etc. Just removes the driving enjoyment and skill requirement. Then you have EVs that sanitize driving even more and weight in a 2300 kg or more. Another excellent video, Jodie. Thank You!

Lovely. Just the business. Many motoring hacks always commented on the famed "Italian Driving position " in the day with the floor hinged pedals on 105 series cars, and the whole feeling of short legs , log arms ,very Nuvolari! My father had a 105 series Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina and said he would have found the driving position most uncomfortable had been any taller. --as it was he was about 5ft 6 inches tall - so its still the car he talks about to this day , he had company cars after. Love all the Alfas from 1960s /70s /80s .Had a 1300 GT Junior myself ,1st of 5 Alfas

Gordon's not wrong with that poor rust protection thing. I had a friend working at an Alfa restoration shop (not Alfaholics but they knew each other) and the boss came up with the idea to try to find and talk to the old craftsmen in Italy who built these. They organized it for two years, as you can imagine most of these people are only working on Helios' chariot now, but they managed a sit-down in a little tavern with like 3 guys. One revelation was the permanent rust issue over or near the sills; turns out Alfa was world leader in the same thing why BMW won't sell you a body in white - lawsuits, so Zagato (and Pininfarina, Frua, etc...) bought production Alfas (Fiats, Lancias) then _torch cut_ the body off and built their own. The join was where the rust started later.

I said to my friend that I always loved these but wondered if I could even fit, given that I am 6 foot 1. Wonderful car! So much outward visibility, modern cars so often have huge blind spots, even in the A-pillars. I just bought a Jaguar F-Type, the A-pillars are so thick, especially at the bases with the mirrors and speakers blocking close objects. They are beautiful cars but take some getting used to.
That Zagato must be a hoot to drive, Alfas of that era are very amenable to heel and toe shifting, something I find somewhat lacking in current Mazda MX-5s and the F-Type I just got.
