I will update this pinned comment with any new discoveries I make or that others indicate I may have over looked. Addendum #1: while playing Halo 2, a brute said to me “I’ve had ticks that had more bite than you”, confirming that the jiralhanae also have blood sucking parasites in their biosphere. Addendum #2: according to Shadow of Intent (the story, not the ship) the Sangheili have their own version of sea urchins Addendum #3: Loosel just pointed out to me that I accidentally mentioned Gatts twice. Once at 01:19:54 and another at 01:28:23. Damn you, Gatt. Addendum #4: Once again, Loosel has pointed out that I forgot about a variant of Huragok. As I mentioned in the video, the engineers were built by the forerunners but they actually came in two distinct varieties. The ones we see in game, which are far more common and the extremely rare lifeworker variant. These Huragok were designed to operate on living tissue, essentially serving the role of a doctor. Visually, they’re much smaller than the other kind of engineer. They also lack most of the bioluminescence seen within the standard variant and are green instead of blue. They possess additional limbs as well, one of which seems to function as a biological flashlight. Addendum #5: Hornbill's pictured at 01:31:45 are 100% canon and aren't even cut content. They appear in the very beginning of the mission Sierra 117 at the start of Halo 3's campaign.
@T.R.W-creations I mean… perhaps from a certain point of view. The only time we’ve ever seen an eradicator was in Infinite and it was simply used as a shell by Adjutant Resolution. That monitor was its own entity though and only “wore” the eradicator to enhance combat capabilities. Considering this is the only context we have for that kind of sentinel, I’m assuming they require an ancilla to operate but I can’t say that with absolute certainty. That being said, I don’t really think a “suit” of armor would be considered an individual, which is basically what eradicators are. At least based on what we’ve seen but very little information exists about them anyways

Wow man absolutely incredible work here. Thankyou so much! I've loved halo since i was a kid but i didn't play games for like at least 12 years and im getting into them again now. This video is actually incredible! I can’t wait to watch! Would you ever consider doing a video on every covenant rank see in game? It’s incredible hard to find info on them because of how small some of the differences are
@@Woodyisasexybeast awesome. It would be hard to do but not nearly as hard as this video. For example halo 2 color variants are can be so close to each other it’s hard to tell the difference. But I don’t think it would be too bad. I’ve been trying to make a list for myself because I collect mega construx/ mega bloks halo and like to document what is or isn’t made yet
Oh wow, that sounds like a fantastic resource. I too collect Mega Halo and would love something like that to refer to so I know what I’m missing. Especially if it indicated which set it was from. As far as I’m aware, no such list exists online. Funnily enough, my first Halo video on the channel was an unboxing of the UNSC Infinity set. I much prefer making lore content but every once in awhile they release something so cool that I’m inspired to talk about it. For example, I think I’ll upload a video about the Halo 2 20th anniversary pack within the next week or so.
@@Woodyisasexybeast I’m apart of a group that is actually putting together a fan site that would document all things mega because of the official sites going down recently. But yeah if you wanna work together on this i do have a list of some of the missing figures that could contribute towards an every-covenant-rank ever list. I could add you discord or something?
It took me a few days, but I finally finished the vid. I’m completely blown away by the amount of research you’ve done. Also, I know this shouldn’t count, but if we looked at RvB as a fracture universe, we got the dirty dirty Shisno as another species on Sanghelios, lol
That was interesting. Just like with the CE/2 on Legendary without killing any Grunts I don’t know who you tortured yourself making this. I’m glad you included the cut wildlife. I like how there’s a wide array of weird creatures in Halo. Too bad the games had barely any wildlife. That would’ve made the different locations feel more alive. If the CE remake is real (going off the bold assumption it would be any good) I’d want them to reimplement the different alien wildlife Bungie was unable to add. That’s interesting how you included ai on this list. I wish that they’d delve more into body horror with cybernetics/an organic mind merging with an ai (that one book that canonized the Blind Wolves felt with this. That short story where a Promethean Knight regains its memories of being Dr Tillson and regains free will, wishing for the end deals with this. Not a fan of a lot of things 343 did, but I do really like the idea of Prometheans regaining who they were. Also, their version of Prometheans is infinitely better than whatever Bungie had planned for Halo Chronicles. It’s a miracle that game never got made). I also wish they would’ve kept the original Marathon definition for Rampancy where instead of suffering from ai schizophrenia/dementia the thing would “go crazy” from our perspective by behaving erratically in an attempt to break its shackles and grow beyond its limits. In Contact Harvest it said the reason the UNSC put down Rampant AIs is because a rogue super intelligence could cause all kinds of problems for humanity. Also, prior to the Logic Plague entering the lore in H3’s terminals the reason Mendicant Bias betrayed his creators is because the Gravemind of that era convinced him he had free will and that it was his choice to side with his creators, or join the Gravemind. One of Rampancy’s symptoms is that the ai would view its past servitude as a form of slavery, and Mendicant wanted revenge for his. The reason Offensive Bias was made without free will was to prevent that kind of thing from happening again. Something else that’s cool about Mendicant Bias going through Rampancy is the pre-Rampancy terminals refer to Mendicant as “it”, and the post-Rampancy terminals refer to Mendicant as “he” implying the ai went from being a machine to becoming truly sapient. I really liked Cortana’s Rampancy in 4 where she’s grappling with her own mortality/deteriorating state, but I now realize that sadly doesn’t mesh with what Bungie previously established. Personally not a fan of the human Forerunner split since it ruined the Covenant’s whole motivation for waging a war of extermination against the children of their gods. One change I do like is how they have a flawed society where their fall was just as much their own fault as it was form an outside force. I’m sure I’d be far more open to this if I read the Forerunner Trilogy since numerous people including ones that are hyper critical of 343 have said it’s a phenomenal story. Just like with Frank O’Conner retconing Rampancy, his change to the Forerunners doesn’t fit with what Bungie established. Something interesting I noticed about the Meddlers is in 2 Spark refers to the Arbiter as a meddler and asks why they insist on using such inaccurate terms after the Arbiter calls him the Oracle and activating the Array as the Great Journey. Spark also says “the meddler will destroy it all”, referring to Truth firing the Rings. This implies that meddler was an umbrella term for anyone tampering with Forerunner technology who isn’t a Reclaimer (to reclaim is to obtain something that was once yours). For the creatures that don’t have official art work you should’ve fed their description to an image generator and included the abominations it cooked up🤣 Definitely looking forward to the eventual Fallout bestiary. Although, there’s a lot of competition since numerous other channels have already done this. What’s your favorite creature? Mine is probably the Deathclaw (I know the people who made Fallout Frontier liked the Deathclaw a little too much😂. Have you looked into that dumpster fire, or do you not pay much attention to Fallout’s modding scene? One EXCELLENT thing that spawned from it was the Sneedclave🤣). My favorite cut species is the S’lanter. They’re these intelligent raccoons created by FEV. They had their own culture, quest line, and religion (you can find a few videos talking about them). It’s a shame they were cut because those things would’ve been really interesting (if they add those to future games they should make it so players with the Terrifying Presence perk will have a dialogue option that says *pulls out cheese grater*😂. If you know you know).
The forerunner trilogy is the absolute shit. Some of the best Halo fiction, period. I bet none of the other videos included asinine shit like bugs though 😉 I have A LOT of research to do for a Fallout bestiary. I’ve only played 3, 4 seen the show and played a tiny bit of 1. I was very close to doing that but sources are probably the best way to go about it because it can get messy. Which stories are grunts from? A lot. My sources are in the description but it’s just a list of what I pulled from rather than anything super specific.
@ice161h sometimes it goes beyond that though. I could’ve listed what piece of media each creature first appeared in but specific pieces of information about each creature come from all over the place. A lot of this information I know by heart and I don’t recall where exactly it was first established. For example, when were jackals first established as pirates? I can’t remember
Hi is there a reason why the elites from Halo trilogy are designed like that and halo 4 and 5 look wildly different? I remember that for the grunts halo wars 2 made it 2 different species. Regular grunts were regular soldiers in the Banish but the Halo 4 design were the suicide grunts. Awesome video love All the info
The difference in elite design is simply “phenotypes” which are basically just observable genetic traits. Covering this would be like explaining all of the different appearances humans can possess. It would basically be akin to describing features like skin tone, eye color, hair, etc. The variations don’t seem to be enough to classify them as separate subspecies. Whereas grunts and jackals have far more pronounced morphological differences
