I think the original was absolute train chugging. This one chugs too but they are being a little more playful here and messing with it a bit. I think the original has that real chug feel made with a vst probably running under the whole performance. I don't think this one has that. The original performance chugs like crazy but there's also a chug loop under the whole thing maybe put on in post, maybe played to. Dunno. You can hear it in the original when the band finally pulls up to the station and chugs down. The vst loop thing chugs on a little.
bravo vulfpeck always the best brought you a wind of freshness with your music, you return to paris for your next concert mr finish line tour, and I would see you again thank you for your music cordially karl
Vulfpeck uses a huge watermark in the dead-center of the video and literally nobody gives a damn. That's how you know people care about the music so much they don't care if there's a watermark in the worst possible place ever. Not sure if there's a lesson to taken from here, but I don't care either. The funk has taken over my body completely.
So may things make this great. Woody’s solo, Theo’s delicate use of the hi hat, the subtle compression on Cory’s guitar and the pocket. Great live session. I hope there are more that came out this. I noticed Theo’s 335 in the room so may be a clue.
This might be bizarre... but I would be down for hearing some Vulfpeck on the American Cowboy Bebop remake if Yoko Kanno isn't composing (also... making a big asssumption that the remake won't be trash).
looks like he was totally in control of the rhythm and opted to start on the half beat of 4th in his first measure of his solo! seemed like he wanted to throw everyone a curveball
bravo vulfpeck always the best brought you a wind of freshness with your music, you return to paris for your next concert mr finish line tour, and I would see you again thank you for your music cordially karl
Neva clicked so damn fast blah blah blah wow it's do minimalist and low volume. Good to know Cory remains in fourth position. Who's aye for them studio collab w/Knower?!
Good call recording this Vulf style and releasing it under this channel. Yet another reason Stratton is one of my favorite bandleaders/managers. Also one of the best live vulf recordings I've heard. And do I sense a little Vulf Compression in there?! I believe I do.
It’s not directly comparable, but listening to you play these lovely thick chords on the piano, makes me long for you guys to record a cover of ‘Don’t let it get you down’ by the Crusaders. I think you’d nail it. Please?
oh, this is so great. A great groove and a totally different take on the piano. At the breakdown solos, starting with Woody's solo in the key of B, none of them seem to land. The energy is not there and when the drums start coming back in I feel like they've lost it, but then the whole band plays, and they play so good., ya get a piece of everything and it's wonderful.
Nice understated boogie woogie phrasing, plus that one little piano glitch with the "arrghh" groan, which actually wasn't (a glitch I mean) just added something. Perfect little dash of sax. Just so much fun. Think you could do something extended with this thematically (maybe incorporate our girl Bethanni on trombone?) Thanks again for such a cool groove.
I love this rickety ass El Chepe. It's like the train is dancing and skipping on the track.
Nailed that shit right on the head. This totally sounds like a slow moving train boogieing down the tracks near santa fe
Who threw all these pennies on the tracks!?

All I needed was to see Woody smile during the break to instantly make my day 10000x better
Looks like Joe's been getting fashion tips from Cory
Striped shirts are the way to go.
He might be a bass player, but he ain't a follower.
I think I might actually prefer this to the original. And I LOVE the original.
This sounds like the opening theme to an early 80s sitcom! BEAUTIFUL!!!
My dad just overheard me watching this video and asked if I was on hold... hahaha
You were held.
held at funkpoint
Greatest hold music ever...
this version NEEDS to be released on spotify
Jack/Woody/Joe/Theo is my favorite member of vulfpeck. Cory/Joey/Charles/Antwaun is my favorite guest.
Siriusly funky.
Wait..............
Wut?
My favorite piano fill ever
RIGHT

Didnt even notice that hige watermark in the middle of the screen lmaoo
I noticed it but while listening to the song I forgot about it lol
I kinda like the water mark actually
what the fuck is a watermark? i can't see it
It's impossible to crop out that way.

Not to mention Jack Stratton's strident piano parts
Head phones on. My neighbors give weird looks when I let the funk wobble my legs as I walk my dog.
Jajajaja dude that's me everytime I Liste to Vulfpeck walking on the street.
I wonder why
He's the greatest dancer
Where my regular bean eaters at
This is like 10 times better than the studio version.
I can never have enough El Chepe. Now I have 2!
listen to See Saw by Aretha. similar vibe just a bit slower :)
Please release this on spotify.
i highly second this
if you want to truly support vulfpeck dont listen on spotify
@LokiRiver Is this a joke, you know theyre the band that released Sleepify right?
They own all the rights to their songs. So they make much more from the others on Spotify.
If you want to truly support Vulfpeck you would buy their albums AND listen on Spotify, double the dolla
this band and their music brings me so much joy
This has more treble in the hi-hat than':
Newsbeat
Adrienne & Adrianne
The Speedwalker
COMBINED.
most underrated vulfpeck song 100%
3:21 Is Cory laying down this sort of funk while outside the 4th position? The madman!
What's the or where's the 4th position?
@@oinkooink the guitar he likes to use has a five way pickup selector and the fourth position on that selector often can sound real silky funky
@@Poincianaa Right thanks. Is that the one just before the neck pick up?
@@oinkooink yeah it is
@@Poincianaa Thanks again
One thing I love about Vulfpeck videos. They're always having such a good time with the music.
As always, Vulf is exceeding my expectations x10.
What a wonderful snare tone! Thank you!
omg ur right
what mixing wizardry are you putting on those keys to make them sound so sweeet?
vulf compressor
i love the fact this song is so funky, cory had to get up from his seat half way through
This might be bizarre... but I would be down for hearing some Vulfpeck on the American Cowboy Bebop remake if Yoko Kanno isn't composing (also... making a big asssumption that the remake won't be trash).
HOLY. SHIIT YES YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT
YES MY FAVE VULF SONG
Somthing about the way this is mixed feels so good in my body
very full sound. feels great in the soul!
I've always wanted a piano run down of this one, and now this'll do👍
Those ghost cymbals sound amazing through the Vulf Compressor!
Ahh the breakdown is so great.
You all look like you're having so much fun! Love it.
3:08 Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Woody Goss
helmofon123 lolololol
Jack looks like he's gonna lose it...
Yessss what happened here?
Is he referencing another song with that riff? It's so pretty!
looks like he was totally in control of the rhythm and opted to start on the half beat of 4th in his first measure of his solo! seemed like he wanted to throw everyone a curveball
Goss with the bird shirt
I was feeling down just recently but hot damn did things change quickly when this popped up
bravo vulfpeck always the best brought you a wind of freshness with your music, you return to paris for your next concert mr finish line tour, and I would see you again thank you for your music

One of those songs I prefer listening to twice in a row.
You know you could have put this on the next album and called it el chepe II
The steel guitar adds so much to this song
Neva clicked so damn fast blah blah blah wow it's do minimalist and low volume. Good to know Cory remains in fourth position. Who's aye for them studio collab w/Knower?!
THAT WOULD BE GREAT OMG, SAM WILKES AND JOE DART IN THE SAME ROOM ? me dead
2:19 that piano sounds is absolutely orgasmic
El chepe with sax is liiiiit

Rhythmic tension is a hell of a drug.
Can you release som of this live stuff on Soundcloud or Spotify?
Someone accidentally missed the thumbs up
