Just beautiful! We just booked the Viking Star for 2018. For those saying this is for "old people": this ship is designed for a particular market and fills a much-needed niche. No one under 16 permitted which we are very pleased about. No casino is a plus: no smoke and no noisy slot machines. You want a lively, loud ship full of water slides and rampaging children? There's a market for that, too: go book Carnival. And remember, you'll be older some day too.
I had the extreme pleasure of sailing on the Viking Star on its maiden voyage from Bergen to Stockholm. The description of understated elegance is right on point. The food was wonderful, the cabins extremely comfortable and the service 5 star. This is the ultimate boat for intelligent travelers who enjoy history, art, music and good conversation. The onboard lectures were exceptional, and as with their river cruises, Viking includes a 2-4 hour tour in every port of call, plus plenty of time to explore on your own. Simply loved the entire experience. We'll definitely be back.
I've been searching for a good video of Viking Star's interior. You did an outstanding job! The video really makes you want to pack your bags and board the ship.
We had a great time on the Mediterranean cruise -- last of the season. We were shocked to be upgraded 5 grades, but, then, this was our third Viking cruise within a year. It did spoil us rotten!! We loved the absence of a casino -- always smokey and a nuisance to pass through on other ships. We also appreciated the fact that they were not trying to sell us stuff, like art work. Viking is the best. (The Chef's Table is pretty worthless, though. Just the chef make food that no one really wants to eat, but allowed him to show off. Husbands beware!! )
Coming from the city of sails Auckland New Zealand my wife and I (on our first cruise) can't wait to join this ship at Barcelona in April for a 29 day cruise ending in Stockholm. I think we may have chosen "the ultimate" for our first cruise experience.
These vessel really represent what is Norwegian cruising is all about luxury and elegant,i work for a Norwegian expedition vessel much better than any American cruise line hands down. They treat you like family not like slave like other cruises ship and food is much better👽👽👏🏻👏🏻
At the 12:22 point, that really was Torstein Hagen, the billionaire CEO of Viking Cruises, that walked by the camera, wasn't it?!?! THAT'S cool! Did you ever have a chance to talk to him?
fantastic video as always. sadly, the lack of entertainmemt and the fact that id be afraid to touch anything are two good reasons why i might not go on the ship but for their first attempt at an ocean liner.... its pretty well done. thank you for the upload.
Does Viking accommodate special diets such as my required gluten free, dairy free, including creamers for coffee? Coconut preferred, but I can bring my own. Also is there room for small scooters or wheelchairs? May I request a shower stool? Temporary bars on sides of toilet?
Does anyone have a video that shows all catagory of staterooms and not just the very best stateroom. Love to be able to see each one to compare the size, etc.
Im seriously considering making the jump to these kind of ships. Anyone have any advise for ppl like me jumping from huge liners to smaller ones? Never been on Carnival, Princess, RC or NCL (Not to my liking) l only do Celbrity cruises, mid 30s, dont gamble, still trendy and will feel uncomfortable on Regent (extreme elegance). The Celbrity Edge coming out is 100% my style, but looking for more inclusive, port intensive ships. Is Viking a good transition for me, or is there another line that would be good jumping point from a Solstice class ship? Worried that a drastic jump will turn me off from these ships in the future, so any advise to make it less dramatic would be helpful.
+Francisco Espírito-Santo The main pool is temperature controlled, and the ship is not very conducive to children. You're not likely to see many if any kids onboard. Thanks for your question and bon voyage!

i am not old and i prefer this type of ship over one that has continuous noisy events and parties and dance floors , i dont mind some noisy activities and maybe some night time club or dance , but you go on a cruise to relax and for a vacation, not for noise 24 hours a day you noot
Its not for old ppl, this ship was built for well off ppl with a finer appreciation for lfe, obviously something you will never be a part of, as proof of your ignorant comment. Enjoy your Carnival cruise and Justin Bieber concerts
Or those who don't want rampaging kids, yellow kitch swirly slides, mickey mouse poking at your ears and blaring techno music. This is a cruise ship for people who want to relax when on vacation.
My god!! What a boring ship! Basiclly a ship full of cafes and book shelves! I can do all that at home. A cruise ship for old people who think they are cultured!
What are your impressions of the Viking Star?
Enjoyed the Eastern Seaboard Explorer on the Viking Star. Fine dining for each meal. Unbeatable.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Did you try Manfredi's?

Exactly why I enjoyed my 2017 cruise!
Jesse Baldwin And why I am looking forward to my 2019 cruise!
That’s a rude comment for people who go on Carnival FYI

MsCruiseguy Thanks so much! I'm glad it was exactly what you were looking for. Bon voyage!
I have to say, this was a very well executed and informative video. Thanks for promoting Viking Star.
Cheers,
Darryl
Thanks so much!
I will take Viking Star to cruise Homeland. I had a trip with Viking River cruise and now I will go for Viking Ocean Cruise. Viking - never wrong.

Liked your comment about no casino's. Looking forward to not having such trash on our first cruise.
+Mike Ashmore this was a great trip we were the youngest passages on the ship bisides the crew.

Yup, that was indeed him. In fact, I've spoken with him and dined with him many times over the years. He's a great guy!

steven matheson It's my pleasure! Thanks so much!
Great review. This ship is very much the same as Azamara.
Beautiful Ship
It's a chance for once in a lifetime. No kids no teens. If you need anything just ask at no charge.
This is the only cruise line I would consider. None of the rabble and low class hordes like on other ships.
I can't wait!
Does Viking accommodate special diets such as my required gluten free, dairy free, including creamers for coffee? Coconut preferred, but I can bring my own. Also is there room for small scooters or wheelchairs? May I request a shower stool? Temporary bars on sides of toilet?
Yes, dietary restrictions are always well attended to. There are cabins with enough room for the equipment cited.
Does anyone have a video that shows all catagory of staterooms and not just the very best stateroom. Love to be able to see each one to compare the size, etc.
Muy lindo éste vídeo saludos cordiales para todos desde Nicaragua C A
Great video!

Fantastic
This kind of cruise that i love, not like Disney who full of pesky kids.
Hello! Does the main pool have heated water? And are children allowed in this área? Thanks!
+Francisco Espírito-Santo The main pool is temperature controlled, and the ship is not very conducive to children. You're not likely to see many if any kids onboard. Thanks for your question and bon voyage!
Popular Cruising, thank you for your insight and advice.
Actually, no children under 16 are allowed onboard at all.
I'm relaxed just watching, if I went (or when I go) I'll turn into putty
You're a travel channel....know how to pronounce "Thames"

Amen! I'm so there.
exterminador1904 sometimes people just want peace and quiet not screaming kids and loud teenagers.
Thank Goodness.....there's a time and a place for everything
You'll be older too some day.
Run away from this ship
My god!! What a boring ship! Basiclly a ship full of cafes and book shelves! I can do all that at home. A cruise ship for old people who think they are cultured!
irritating background music and monotone narrator. Typical sterile advertisement.
