I believe this is the first _complete_ sign-off sequence for WJW/WJKW uploaded to TH-cam? Interesting how the sign-off news report has stories seemingly all over the place...
So, WJW/WJKW like former fellow Storer station WSBK-TV 38 in Boston aired the Mormon's SSB. The third Ohio TV station to use that film aside from the former WAKR-TV (WVPX) Akron and WLWT Cincinnati.
Early-1970s L.D.S. "Star-Spangled Banner" (U.S. 🇺🇸 National Anthem) film clip feat. world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle chorale singing Stanza l, anthem was also used by WOR-TV (Ch. 9), N.Y. City, N.Y. in late-1970s/early-1980s for their "sign-ons", as well as then-NBC-TV Network-affiliated Ch. 3-TV, Phila., Penna. for their "sign-offs" in early-1980s
Now come up with the signoffs from our other stations (3, NBC 5, ABC 19,ind./FOX now CBS 23, ABC now ion 25, PBS 43 ind./UPN-WB/UPN/MNTV now CW 49, PBS 55, ind./WB/CW now independent and 61 subscription (Preview)/ ind./HSC now Univision and maybe the LPTV stations that came on

And at that time they had already dropped the CBS Late Movie for local programming and would not air any of CBS' late night schedule until Letterman (and even then on a delay at first) however they did air Nightwatch when it first started for the full 4 hours but after a while they dropped the last 2 hours of Nightwatch (but they did pick up The Kids in The Hall on a delay after Big Chuck and Lil' John on Friday nights) and for what it's worth The CBS Late Movie did return to Cleveland for a short while in the fall of 1984 when WCLQ (Ch. 61) became a full time independent station but they didn't keep it for very long (Ch. 61 is now WQHS and Univision and before that they were Home Shopping Club and that may have been part of the reason why Ch. 61 had to drop the CBS Late Movie because of going to HSC and because of two other independent stations that went on around the same time (WOIO Ch. 19 the original Fox affiliate now with CBS and WBNX Ch. 55 independent/WB/CW now independent again (it was 19 that basically sent 61 to HSC and gave our top rated independent station WUAB Ch. 43 a run for it's money, 43 ended up with UPN & WB when they first started and then let WB go to 55 and stayed with UPN until the very end and then went with My Network TV before taking the CW affiliation from 55 and moving MNTV to the MeTV subchannel of Ch. 19))
Part of the national anthem was later seen on a "Big Chuck and Lil John" skit.
As a big fan of John FitzGerald, what a treat to hear his voice all over this. Thanks so much.
